Many altcoins are promising and probably it can defeat bitcoins. But not quite. Not that easy. They will go through many challenges and it will take a lot of time for it to happen. Ethereum have the highest possibility in defeating bitcoin.

I don’t see altcoin have any chances against bitcoin especially in purely on peer-to-peer payments will ever be as successful as Bitcoin. Whether it splits into two or not, I doubt that Bitcoins will be overtaken by any other cryptocurrency because Bitcoin is the first digital currency and despite its problems, it has gained so much momentum that there’s no stopping it or overtaking it by other P2P payment blockchains - they will simply steal a bit of Bitcoin’s market. However, if you’re talking about the price and what to invest in right now to get decent returns in the future, these three are my absolute favourite coins to do so:
   1. Ethereum(ETH)
   2. Litecoin(LTC)
   3. Ripple (XRP)

I have been seeing Bitcoins' price rising with a stability in its growth, but due to the higher mining fee that is being levied on transactions these days, big businesses are now moving their funds towards alts and taking advantage with their least fees as well as shaping a completely new economy in the trends of altcoin markets. Do you think this may harm Bitcoin's dignity and open up a chance in real for alts to rise?
As of today i think altcoins has no chance to overtake bitcoin even if it has a higher fee. bitcoin developers are aware on competition and they stay vigilant on the current situation.

Why not! There are many altcoins available in the market which are technologically superior than bitcoin and also holds a lot of potential for the future. I can name ETH as a worthy contender of bitcoin. The transaction fees are low in ETH and the transactions are almost instant compared to a 30 minutes waiting for bitcoin transaction. However, bitcoin is enjoying the pioneer status in crypto world and that's why we are seeing a lot of investments flowing in to it.

Bitcoin will be available till 2023 and I am sure some other coin will come up and replace bitcoin for good. I have already started investing in to ETH and Dash thinking about the future potential. So I am sure some altcoin will surely replace bitcoin in future but not anytime soon.

I believe altcoins also have their chances to go up against bitcoins. The problem that I think is that because of those some alts that turned out to be scams other alts who might have the potential are affected because investors are quite skeptical to invest with their projects. Maybe they can go up against btc in time but I can't see ot in the near future because we have to admit that btc have the upper hand since it was developed first.
Yes true, of course the developers are learning the bitcoin weaknesses so they will make better coins than bitcoin so I'm sure someday there will be coins that can replace bitcoin.

I dont consider so, bitcoin is the father of all alt cash, and it has the maximum value between other cash. I believe they will be far more nearer to the value but bitcoin will constantly received. Bitcoin has the greatest have faith in value also due to the fact it operates about many years ago. And several buyers spend on it. Bitcoin is the most populat amongst all.

BTC has reached its own standard now. ETH is on its way. We have so many altcoins coming into market. Their innovative projects are really unique and promising. This is really hitting the market and growing healthy in the market. Each altcoin stands out with their values.

Altcoins will always depend on bitcoins. Not just from its framework but also bitcoin has more stability than any altcoins. Yes altcoins may be profitable than bitcoin in such a short time but I think, if even altcoins gets more popular than bitcoin, it won't be long. They always base everything to bitcoin..
I think you compare altcoin to bitcoin chick in the market value of altcoin and bitcoin there are too many different in bitcoin in altcoin there are many people who invert big amount money in bitcoin and they are trading to each other in bitcoin an look at the altcoin value this is nothing the main point is this bitcoin is more better then altcoin
Look at the price of altcoin on the market, almost altcoins are decreasing while the price of Bitcoin keep at high price. Why the altcoin market can not recover? Yeah, because most of the traders are holding their money in altcoin and they do not want to sell their altcoins with cheap price to whales.

All altcoins have the chance to defeat bitcoin, for example, some big coins like ethereum or waves are increasing in performance. besides that the number of new coin projects can also be a chance to beat bitcoin.

That's not really possible because no matter what how much they increase they will always stay low in terms of market capitalisation and as well as prices that they carry.

Look at the ethereum and waves, whatbhave they done after being used as way to invest into ICO project? Can you imagine the amount of ethereum that might be bought everyday for sending those ether to ICO contract? But still the prices are not moving around because at the final stages the alts and ether or tokens whatever it is, it's traded against bitcoin and the money come backs to it. This is why it will never cross the bitcoin in first place. Speaking of number of projects, remember there are more than shitty projects to collapse the altcoins themselves.

None of the alts have any chance to defeat Bitcoin, because basically all of them are cheap ripoffs inspired by the success of Bitcoin. Even 99% of the technology is similar, but crypto-users give too much importance to the remaining 1%. My prediction is that, all the alts will die off in the next 2-3 years and their market cap will flow towards Bitcoin.

High fees is one of the biggest downside of bitcoin for a long time. Even I have a hard time to decide whether to make a transaction or not. However, bitcoin has maintained its value for many years. Just like what you've said, it has stability in its growth which entices more people to invest to it. As long as the value of bitcoin is as high as it is now, or even grow for the coming years, I don't see altcoins replacing bitcoin on top of the list of best cryptocurrencies.

I believe whatever we call it the alts, or altcoins they are basically surviving because of the bitcoin and also took the current form because of the bitcoin only. It's just that they were made on the basis of smart contracts over the blockchain but the core thing is same. Bug businesses might be using because it is cheap to buy and easy to transfer but that won't hurt bitcoin at any cost because bitcoin is one of its kind and people will never stop investing into it. That's actually very important to know that it's market cap is wa way higher than any alt which means it is not going down at all.

I think it will really take a very long time wherein a altcoin can surmount the price of bitcoin.
It could be possible that some altcoins can go near the bitcoins price.
but to say that one of them will cost more than it may not happen in our lifetime.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I don't think bitcoin is the future. The blockchain technology, sure, but not the crypto currency itself. There are too many draw backs to prevent it from being globally adopted - the cost to transact, the speed, the supply... These are really really substantial issues for breaking into mainstream.

So, do alts have a chance? Absolutely, providing they're based on a human need and the right technology.
Excellent post. We need more on the bolded.

How bad are these problems?

What coin is better in these areas (and still reasonably good in all other areas) and therefore is the competitor?
