It's not the Lakers' fault. It is either Dennis Schroder or his agent who is at fault after declining a big contract that was being offered by the Lakers 2 or 3 years ago if I remember it right. He actually became a trend after that and even a meme for not accepting such a big salary.
Anyway, once again he proved that is a top-caliber player. I don't think anyone would doubt that anymore and I expect the Lakers to also trust him to handle the ball and make plays on his own. Get Lebron some rest and try Schroder to lead them.

He's always been a quality player; some teams in the NBA probably do not appreciate that, but he can always be trusted in crucial times, especially in championships. He has not won an NBA championship yet, but he now belongs to a good team, and who knows, in the seasons to come, he will create a name for himself as an NBA champion. The Lakers were wrong not to offer him a better contract, as he is a very reliable player. He should be considered on par with the superstars, as his job is to make a team better, just like what he has achieved with Germany.

When the coach decides to play the team B  or young players surely he had other plans or at least knew the consequences, I think the USA wants to try regeneration while providing sufficient experience for the next tournament for example at the upcoming Olympics. No one thought that Germany would become champion they are not the favorite team, we know after USA then Canada is the 2nd favorite almost everyone predicts these two teams will go to the final but our prediction was wrong

What a game! It was an excellent shot from Bridges! I also realized this, in the overtime the US team "slowed down" and the Canadian team overcame them and took third place.

The USA actually had a terrible performance in this World Cup, sometimes I feel that the US team tries to save effort and they don't call up their best team, I believe they imagine, sending the "second unit or third unit" they could already be the champions, but I realized that this is not currently happening.
Even though the US team in this World Cup had a good quality, I have no doubt that if they sent their allstar players, the USA would easily become champions of this World Cup.

It's a great honor to host the FIBA and the support from the crowd is very amazing.
Many are surprised about the result of the game and every teams deserve their wins. Losing on our bet is normal though, this is gambling after all and a sports that are unpredictable since the start of the World cup, so many upset happened. Excited for the next World Cup but for sure, many teams will bounce back in Olympic.

I've seen a lot of people get lost in that match because they really thought that the USA would win the bronze, but it turns out nothing. USA is really the crowd favorite, but they just ran out of gas, and Dillon really had a great game that time. The ball is really in a circle, we really don't know who will win, but Canada really deserved the win.

The final game is really thrilling, and it is really a great match, and Germany deserved that win. We are just glad to host the Fiba, and we do hope that in the next Fiba it will be exciting the same as this, and I do hope that the team US will have the higher roster teams.

After having some ours to reflect I can only say, what a tournament.

Maybe basketball will get it's well deserved hype in Germany now. Only showing the final on free tv and not 1 of the other games was really ridiculous and shows how under the radar this sport still is.

These men deserve a bigger stage and hopefully their welcome and trophy presentation back in Germany will be just as amazing as their performance this year.

In Germany there were quite a good a mount of public viewing events by true basketball lovers. Saw a lot of videos and pictures shared by friend on instaram and so on

Our team made history and I am grateful being a witness of that!!!

The result between USA and Canada was really unexpected and yes, I'm part of those who lose the bet because USA didn't perform that well.
Canada did a great job on ever field and having a huge lead against USA is something that we didn't expect. Though rumors are saying that it was a fixed game so that Canada will get their first every podium finish in the FIBA, well no one knows.

While he was still with the Lakers, he also did great but that didn't end well for the team. Maybe he can show better with his stay on the Raptors.
And this finals of the FIBA world cup sure was all unexpected. When everyone else has thought that it's gonna be other popular teams that will face each other, these two came out. Those who were able to bet on Germany and did a YOLO bet, well, you deserve it as well bettors as it's truly a gamble. And for those that bet for USA and Canada for the battle of the bronze, I am sure that many have lost.

Congratulations to Team Germany on winning their first-ever FIBA World Cup Championship Title.

I know for sure that the proudest basketball legend in this Germany's historic basketball history is none other than, Dirk Nowitzki. After Germany officially became the champion in this year's FIBA World Cup, he went straight to Twitter and tweeted: "Weltmeister!!! Unfassbar! 🥇 Was für ein Team!!!!! which means “World champion!!! Inconceivable! 🥇 What kind of team!!!!” in English translation.

Germany also went undefeated in this tournament. What a dominant team on which others don't even consider them a contender before the tournament. Also congratulations to Dennis Schroder in winning the MVP title. Good achievement to boost his NBA contract next time lol.

Dennis Schröder is a really quality player, we saw that again today.
Germany owes him a lot for the championship.
We have seen some beautiful and enjoyable games during the World Cup.

I wish that would happen. He also deserves that too. He made a mistake on the last offer for him by declining what the Lakers is offering but now his contract should be fixed.

This FIBA tournament made a lot of basketball fans open their eyes that there are great players outside the NBA. I think that is the lesson that will be learned and this will flow to the Olympics.
@jakelyson was right, the USA's dominance in basketball is over. Soon there will be other countries who will try to get that gold medal. There are Latvia, Lithuania, Slovenia, Serbia, Canada, and more countries (I won't mention all) who proved this year that they should not be underestimated anymore and I bet the odds of betting will also change next year.
The other bonus of this peaceful event is it gives hope to other countries that being a champion isn't out of reach anymore, they can do it too. Germany just did it and Canada was the bronze medalist for the first time, soon other countries might snatch that.

And let us all give thanks to the host countries this year. Japan, Indonesia, and the Philippines, despite the bad weather somehow we made it until the end. There were floods in some parts of the country and yet we did it.

Germans for sure are rejoicing such win as their countrymen were watching their game in a nationwide broadcast.

Germany was not early favorite, even in the group competition, Australia was favored over Germany.
Well, this is another game that we can say, upsets do happen all the time. Congrats to Germany!
And for their players, seems that they also have lots of signing to do when they come home, not only for their basketball career but maybe advertising perks as well.

And the USA can not do a thing, for sure The USA got a decent spread but it was not enough, regardless of what the Basher will have to say to him (including myself) Dillon Brooks is really something else he has shown a totally different Brooks in this game, for sure the coach has said that he just lets Brooks play this one, and for sure if his defensive pay isn't effective in him then his offense was really something and from that press conference after the game Dillon Brook was weirdly humble at all, we can see a different side of Dillon Brooks for sure,


For sure it really was a bad game for the USA Canada along with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Dillon Brooks have an amazing game today have an amazing run and are for sure a better team When it comes to the USA I was really disappointed they likely weren't to win and they aren't really motivated in doing this, for sure and they just want to finish this day and leave, but for Canada for sure Dillon Brooks is really motivated in doing this for sure,

What a game from Germany, winning their first ever FIBA championship title.
Dennis did a great game tonight and Germany played very well. Many opportunities will surely open to other Germany players and yes, Dennis already signed with the Raptors which I think can be a great addition to the team. Congrats Germany and to those who place their bet with Germany.

SGA's game sense and his ability to make plays is really great to watch. He knows what to do inside and on the outside. It's just that Serbia is too much for them to handle. Brooks had the support, but Serbia's tight defense made it too hard for team Canada to score.


I always thought that USA will finish 2nd if not the champions. Also thought that it's a possible Slovenia vs Spain. Germany was never on my radar, but here we are. I'm not surprised that Schröder was the MVP. He played well on the last 2 games leading to the finals. Not as popping as SGA, but still enough to net him the attention of the masses and the officials as well.

The era of USA dominance is long over. All the countries in the world have already caught up with the USA in terms of basketball skills, especially European countries. They cannot send college players and rising stars and still expect to dominate. That time is long gone. So, if they are sending a half-ass team to the World Cup, they should be prepared to be humiliated. All other countries are sending their best players to compete. Please do not downgrade the success of the winning countries because the USA lost. They lost fair and square. It is their fault they got humiliated in the world stage.


I am sure after this humiliation they will form their dream team again to compete in the Olympics. I just wonder what incentives they will give to entice their superstars to play for their country in the Olympics.


I doubt there is game-fixing in this tournament. I doubt the players will want to get involved in that because it is their country's pride on the line. The officiating is done by the referees of other countries. I doubt game fixing can be done in FIBA.


Yeah, they are not the favorite and they stunned as all by winning the World Cup. Schroeder is a different beast when he is playing for Germany. He commanded the offense of Germany and did really great. He deserves the win.

I feel that SGA was by far the best player of the tournament (did not watch much of Slovenia so can't say anything about Dončić).
Schroeder was the best individual of the champions, and the best player of the final - so the choice to give the award to him makes a lot of sense as well.

I have to say that at the beginning of the tournament I'd put at least 6-7 teams ahead of Germany so this comes as a real surprise.

In the beginning of the tournament, I wasn't expecting Germany to win the world cup also but they deserved it. Including their win against USA, they were the one who always deserved to win. And rightfully they deserved the World Cup. Serbia in this game was a little bit disappointment. The 3rd quarter for both teams were a disaster, or as a fan, I was just too bored. Serbia tried to bounce back in the 4th quarter but the last 2 minutes were also a disaster for them. They played the last minutes like a team very unexpected from them. Bogdan Bogdanovic should have gotten the ball more and he could maybe turned the game. He didn't even touched the ball in the 4th quarter, almost. Congratulations to Germany.

When germany won against america, i thought of the movie The Redeem Team. It was many years ago, but USA failed in 2004 and then it got better in 2008. They won against Spain in the final, but now they didnt play the final. As a Das Redeem-Team 2 movie could be made in the future, that would be painful for many NBA fans, but if they win the next big tournament, then they are doing everything right. For germany it is the first title in history.
