Yep, great observation!
I believe, almost all the cups that Italy participated, it was always a competitive team.

Netherlands, Germany, Brazil, Argentina, Italy, England and Spain are always one of the favorites to win the World Cup (of course, in my opinion).
I didn't research it, but I'm pretty sure that these 7 teams I mentioned were in at least the top 3 of the last World Cups we've had.

Haaland is surely one of the best wonder kids in soccer, but sadly Norway is not in this World Cup but most chances we will watch them in next event as now FIFA already increase number of teams from 32 to 48 which is good for many countries and surely Norway is also one of them.

Mbappe will most likely be one of the most important figures at the world cup. What I really regret is that Haaland won't be playing the cup. That's sometimes quite unlucky when you have an amazing player but he plays for a team that usually doesn't play a big role. Norway isn't a bad team, but they won't probably be winning world cup either for quite some time. Haaland not playing is a bummer.

I think the first match of the World Cup will start very spectacularly. In my opinion, Qatar is going to host the best event ever, which we are all waiting for. The first game  hosts Qatar against Ecuador. I am favoring Ecuador in that game. But I think Qatar will play with their best.

Well we already started with the surprise of not having Italy in this world cup.

The biggest surprise in my opinion was probably the defeat of Italy by North Korea during the 1966 world cup. And back in 1990, Cameroon managed to defeat Argentina. IMO, these were bigger upsets when compared to the defeat of Germany against South Korea. But these sort of upsets happen only once in one or two decades. So I am not sure whether we will get one this time. The chances will be higher for next edition (2026), since the number of participants have been increased to 48 from the current 32.

So-so, Mexico even has a reasonable and competitive team. But what surprised me a lot was the defeat of Germany against South Korea and also Croatia reaching the finals in the 2018 World Cup.

I imagine, in almost every Cup there are some surprises, let's see what this year's World Cup will show us.

England is currently in the process of renewing young players, and some of these young players occupy important positions in their respective clubs. interesting for us to watch the development of England in the world cup stage this time. although almost the entire England squad is filled with young players.

Pretty low odds on some teams. Portugal just x13, Netherland x15? Costa Rica, Saudi Arabia, and Iran x501.00, I think x 1 million would be fair here! If someone decides to put at least a dollar on these teams should win a fortune from that!

Well, I will bet a dollar on my country (Serbia), it's x101, and that's also low, knowing who leads the team... That will be my support for the national team!
