The world changing into a bitter place, no room for failures and if one happens to failed, he might face condemnation from the same people who are saying he shouldn't have committed suicide, and if he eventually asked for help, absolutely no one would tender that or give him listening ear, we are human, and every single one of us have flaws which is public or discreet. Committing suicide is never an option, a problem shared is half solved. I think he was depressed because he would face actual blames from his parents and his friends, so he needed to avoid all these obstacles, besides he had alot on his mind.
I agree that the world is changing and becoming more difficult and people are getting selfish, those who fail will get a very narrow space to be able to correct their mistakes and the worst thing is that the people closest to them who should give themselves to help judge, but suicide is not a solution of every failure achieved and I think he will commit suicide for other reasons, I mean if he doesn't kill himself because of gambling then he will suicide because of other problems that can damage his mind, people like that have a very weak soul so they will choose shortcuts to end the problem.
so think gambling can be destructive and people will think of suicide because of addiction then addiction to anything else will give the same result.
this type of problem arises when at home people tend to behave maliciously, repress others, are violent with others. there are houses where the mother and father cannot resolve problems peacefully and are always resorting to blackmail and threats when the children do something and can't help themselves they start to resort to physical aggression, the parents beat the children and threaten them to send them away from home, as children suffer this type of serious violence, they are afraid to tell their parents when they do something bad. for example, parents choose the course that their son should take in college, something like being a doctor, but the son chooses to be an engineer because he likes engineering
it turns out that since the son lives at home with his parents and his parents are violent and they are the ones who pay for college, then the son has no choice, he accepts the course that the father chose, after that the parents start demanding good grades and the son can't get good grades, how he can't get a job to leave his parents' house the son sees gambling as an alternative to earn a lot of money quickly and leave his parents' house and follow the course and things he likes, but how gambling is not a secure source of income, so he loses money and prefers to kill himself because he has no other choice. cases like these have been very frequent, although many of them do not involve gambling, but other addictions such as drugs and alcohol
I read this article:
Quantitative evidence suggests that suicidality is high among those who gamble at harmful levels. In clinical populations and in treatment services for problem gambling, between 22 and 81 percent of individuals have been found to have suicidal ideations, while between 7 and 30 percent of individuals have had suicide attempts (9–16). In other reporting, approximately 40 percent of help-seekers have been identified as presenting a risk of suicide. In community samples, between 17 and 39 percent of those who gamble problematically have been reported to have suicide ideation and between 2 and 57 percent have reported suicide attempts (18–22). Suicidality also appears to increase alongside the severity of gambling-related problems.
