In my own understanding between these virtual currencies. All of them has  a unique and different juridical personally so in other words all of them are independent to each other.
The disappearance of one virtual coin will not after the other coin and still they can perform in the market.

I don't believe altcoins will die if Bitcoin is dead. Blockchain technology has begun to work in every field. Bitcoin is a monetary value, technology doesn't die when Bitcoin dies. I think,  altcoins will continue to live.
Never bitcoin will die not all altcoins die because the users of bitcoin and some altcoins are going increasing with high speed and as the users are present in market of all these coins then these coins will also be present and when users of these coin disappear then there will be the possibility of dying all these coins.

Alt Coins cannot exist without bitcoin.
Alt coins move when Bitcoins move.

ONLY Bitcoin is accepted in 400,000 stores in Japan.
ONLY Bitcoin is accepted in retail stores in the USA, coffee shops, godaddy.com Overstock.com, namecheap.com, etc.
ONLY Bitcoin is accepted at car dealerships in the USA.  I know of 4 that I found so far.
ONLY Bitcoin is accepted for new ICO, Initial Coin Offerings, when another crypto is attempting to start up.
ONLY Bitcoin has banks, credit cards, Visa, Master, and ATMs for Cash.
ONLY Bitcoin is on the Futures market, and soon Options market.  (real options markets that deal with real stock options, not that fake scam sports betting type sites)

Yes I own a BitPay card that accepts BTC, and works as a VISA and at ANY ATM machine for cash.

ONLY Bitcoin is setup to work at credit card machines for stores to accept BTC.

No alt coin is accepted at any retail stores yet.
Only ETH is accepted by some online retailers (Non reputable ones)

Alt coins have NO value without Bitcoin, because alt coins can ONLY be used to trade for:  BITCOIN and other cryptos.

Alt Coins have no other use other than converting to other cryptos.
No other Crypto is worth anything until you trade it for BTC or Fiat currency.

ONLY Bitcoin is accepted in commerce.
That means ONLY Bitcoin is accepted in stores, and legitimate online retailers.

Alt coins will never catch up to the wide spread acceptance of Bitcoin.

your opinion is highly appreciated. Smiley

I think .... the world will be affected, especially in the value of the economic aspect

The Decentralized TCP/IP Internet Protocol
December 24, 2017, 05:17:52 PM
as far as my knowledge goes, most of altcoins are not built using btc at its foundation. Hence, it is kind of independent towards how btc turns in the future. On the other hand, not all the altcoins are turned to btc, maybe most of it but not all, so there are still some left which are exchanged to other form of altcoins.

It has nothing to do with how they are built. Bitcoin is the mother and if mother is sick then all the children are sad. As you can see today's market, just because btc dropped, all the others followed.
No, the cryptocurrency do not keep this trend for long time, it depends on the cycle and the demand of trader. Ethereum, Monero, Ripple or other altcoin can still keep high price in the Bitcoin rates. Although the value in USD rates decreased some percents, but in Bitcoin rates still higher than last week.

I don't think bitcoin and altcoins would have a dying phase, a decline
stage would likely be the proper condition. But supposedly if bitcoin
does decline and is deemed unusable or dead as a proposed scenario
on the topic, It would only render a successor and trigger new upcoming
altcoins to take the limelight and have it's chance to flourish, circulate
and be implemented.

The situation only invites opportunities and competitive potential solutions
on the field. Bitcoin wouldn't back down without a fight and so does
altcoins, this competitive cycle is the spark that ingnites the essence
of the crytpocurrency phenomenon.

Maybe it would not kill the altcons, but the idea of having a decentralized currency would lose power, and that would be enough to make most cryptothermies lose more than half their value

When the king of crypto dies there would be a successor, but it will depends on how it dies. if bitcoin dies due to limitation like maximum number of bitcoins that could be created, eventually some crypto with unlimited supply could be the new leader. But if the crypto king dies due to the technology itself and the community and government denies to utilize and accept it all of the crypto will one by one fall apart...

It all depends on what actually happens to bitcoin. We can see even today bitcoin takes a fall of close to 30% nearly every other coins follow they are all very much intertwined with each other.

it might depend on why bitcoin dies?if all the central bank ban all the altcoin then the chapter will be closed but if bitcoin lose its appeal for other reason then it will not make altcoin die.
like Zimbabwean dollar,if you take a bag full of dollar  you can buy a apple. so people now use usd for transaction.
if the same thing happen to bitcoin investor will substitute it by others.

Probably if btc dies the other alts will die because every other altcoin is depended on Btc and Btc act as a reserve currency, so if gold dies also fiat currencies die.

If bitcoin dies due to state intervention, then after it the altcoins will die. If there is no intervention and at the same time the cryptocurrency will go into oblivion, then bitcoin will be the last coin to die.
I don’t think so that bitcoin will be die in this world because the users of bitcoin is increasing  day by day and in future it will get large number of users so as the users of bitcoin is present in the market then bitcoin will be live in world.

I think bitcoin will not be affected if altcoin become obsolete in this industry; since they have separate and distinct pernosality. .
I think it is a great thing in bitcoin when altcoins gones since they will eliminate the competition in cryptocurrency and they are the only company will provide this kind of service.

I think if bitcoin die, altcoin won't die. Maybe altcoin's price may rise extremely since all bitcoin users will surely switch to altcoins. They will invest so much money that can make its price higher than expected.

There is no reason for us to be afraid because bitcoin will never die, but if bitcoin dies i think people will lose interest to cryptocurrency. maybe ETH, litecoin, altcoin will take place of bitcoin
