It is easy enough as for me. But i`m not addicted to gambling, so may be my example can`t be useful for common gambler.
Just two rules for gambling i use:
1. I set the two limits: time for gambling and money for gambling.
2. When i reach one of these limits - i stop the game. And it doesn`t matter what situation on the table.
Even if i winning, but the time ends - i stop. And of course, before start the game we have to understand that money we plan to spend - would be lost. If we need money for food - just avoid gambling.

You can see the illusion of control take over when some gambler is on a "lucky streak", which convinces him to keep gambling, as if there was some mysterious power out there that would ensure he would keep winning for a limited amount of time.

Add that to the superstitions that some people have, and the illusion only grows stronger and more in control of that person.

It is important to stay grounded, especially during high emotional events like gambling.

And it's really hard to phantom this, I mean we all thought that we are in control when we gamble, but the fact is that we don't know if we are losing or winning because we don't take note of that, shows that we are not in control and everything that we might think is only just an illusion.

Funny though is that I have a small talk with a senior guy and he also says this kind of illusion of control. So I guess he has been gambling for years already that he knows what kind of control gambling has in our system and again, when we thought that we are in control, as he says, is very wrong mindset in the beginning and we should snap out of it.

I am one of those people who have lost a lot of money gambling. To tell the truth, I had no brakes whatsoever. I lost all the money I had on hand. I played until the last penny. Winnings in gambling is by luck, not because the gambler is very smart or that he has a winning strategy, even sports bets that requires some knowledge about individuals or teams to bet on can still be lost despite your knowledge. Any gambler that thinks that they are in total control of their gambling, the overconfidence can make them to lose all their money, so the ideas are just illusions. What works for you today in gambling can fail you tomorrow, that shows that there is no perfect strategy to win in gambling. People should not see gambling as a major place to make money because it is by luck that you can win.
