there are so many altcoins that you can use for long-term investments, usually a newbie makes a long-term investment using ethereum because etherum is the safest altcoin. but you can also try some coins like litecoin, cardano, neo or IOTA.

everyone has a different view in determining the best altcoin, as I am currently believing in ETH and ADA which will give a lot of luck in the future. if you want to find the best altcoin then you have to do a lot of research

Anyone can decide to invest in alt-coins and after that to hold them. Just trough 2018 or longer
is up to each of us. I am in crypto-currencies more than I year, I hold from my early days, I don`t
have any other plans. Holding is my key for success.
I can`t suggest any coin. I started with Bitcoin, after that I bought some Ethereum`s, NEO`s,
Litecoin`s, I earned many tokens trough bounty campaigns. It`s good to start with top coins, but
if you have other wishes you can go by them.

Ethereum is a good altcoin to hold, you may see many other altcoin especially those that have a platform similar to ethereum very cheap but ethereum actually have a working platform!

Currently all the coins in the market is totally down and there are thousands of coin in the market, so you can choose from these thousands of coins in the market and make your investment, the market is still in bear situation and investing in any good coin now could be a good choice so that when the market sees bull run, you will make a huge profit

I suggest you look to NEO and ETH fundamental projects with great future. Now the price is very low but in 2019 I am sure they will show huge growth.

for a beginner the best investment strategy is probably holding. because for daily trading or margin trading you should have enough experience. but if you find a good project and invest in, you probably can earn good money by just holding it.

I will go with NEO, Etherium, Ripple, in this order too. A lot depends on how long are you willing to hold. Don't lose hope even during volatile times and remember to never put all your eggs in one basket.

Yes. it is very possible for a beginner to hold his/her coins for long term. I believe that long term hodling of coins is not something that exactly need special skills to do like day trading. As far as you got a good coin, you do not need any special thing to hodl the coin. As a matter of fact, hodling coins can be said to be the safest thing to do in this industry.

. You can choose a coin in top 10 which you think suitable with you capital

. It's not too difficult to find out a good coin to hold for long term at the moment. Beside I think it's really a good chance to hold because almost good cryptocurrencies' price are really really low right now.

I think Tron is one altcoin I can recommened for any starter to hold. It is a project with great future potential. Tron aims to construct a worldwide free content entertainment system. Tron is one altcoin that always try to hold firm even in the bear market. So, i'd advise Tron.
