for the time being I prefer to do short-term trading because the situation in the exchange place is currently unstable so it will make the movement horrible, but if you don't have much time to be able to see the exchange place then you can do long-term trading.

better long-term investment. It is estimated that 2018 will be an altcoin year which is why I think the focus on altcoin is the best choice. You can invest in Ethereum and hold it, so if you are in the long run you must have a target and not think about the price if the value of the coin drops in value.

At the moment I do not buy coins for long-term storage. I do daily trading and this brings me more profit than investing.

I prefer long term invest but this year has been terrible for this type of investors, if you did not sell then you are probably down 80-90% in your coins...last year the hodl tactic help many people to get rich, but this year many became poor unfortunately

How are you handling your portfolio? How much are risking in % of your portfolio in short term gain vs. Long term gain?

I generally don't add new coins to my portfolio for short periods, because I prefer long term investments. My situation of portfolio is not going well, but this is not a big problem for me, because I believe the crypto.

I can not risk more than twenty percent of my portfolio in short term trading and investment.  Long term hold always work in Cryptocurrency provided you are holding quality coin!

I much prefer long term, my days of mining and dumping are long since over. The key is to find promising new projects and spread your funds / hash between several of them. Some will die a slow death, but if you do your research there's a good chance of striking gold.

Plus it's beneficial at tax time, at least in the U.S., to have a long holding period i.e. greater than 1 year.

As a rule, each crypto system has a restriction on both the total number of coins that will be issued and the number of virtual currency units generated over a certain time interval. The number of people looking for additional earnings in this area is constantly growing, and this greatly complicates the generation of new units and reduces the profits of users who are engaged in it.

I personally buy the crypto currency only for free money. I invest at least 1 year. I think this is the most downtime and profitable strategy

Both had advantages and disadvantages. For my opinion, it is better to choose long term because it will gain more than the short term. Many risk takers choosing long term period because they know that it can benefit them bigger. You are having investment not to sell it immediately instead of holding it and earn from it.

the analyst in this market is extremely meaningless, because only the fundamental planned changes can be calculated with a certain degree of probability. But cryptoworld is diverse, unpredictable and interrelated, which makes it so volatile and interesting for traders.

Long time means holding coins, in my opinion it`s very important to be patient and so this is a good way to do so. However, no one knows how coins will develop the next morths, I would spread therefore some money in altcoins (shorter term) and some money in btc

I tend to believe that the ICO market should be self-aligned against the background of investor experience. That will lead to a greater number of really in demand and realizable projects, which in turn will lead to further growth of this crypto currency.

Speculations are not part of investments... its more like a lottery which can give you possibly high returns or loss. honestly no idea if there is any such ratio in portfolio management or investment. It mainly depend on investors risk appetite. If an investor is trading for long and comfortable with market volatility then he can go for speculation.

It depends on how knowledgeable you are about the investment/trading fundamentals and how much time you are willing to spend on researching the markets. Any investment is speculation if you do not research it well. And any speculation can be an investment if you are strict about the logic of investment, clear exit criterion (in case of profit or loss). My approach I have been trading for a while now. I have usually very high percentage of my portfolio in speculative investments (this is a subjective term). But I have managed to keep my losses in control when things did not work out by using stop losses or hedging. This way, the profits I made in some trades are still higher than losses I had to book. Overall, I have beaten my conservative portfolio by big amount by using these short term investments. Typical financial wisdom Typically, Financial advisers will tell you that you can take higher risk when you are young and you do not need your savings to be consumed. And when you are close to retirement or when you need you money available soon, you prefer to go conservative route more and keep the safety in mind.

Long term investments are in a companies that are trying to make a profit. It takes time and resources to do that, but they think they are filling a niche in society that people will pay for. Your investment in their company is an agreement that you think they are right, they will be profitable over time, and you want a piece of that later. With sufficient diversification, you'll pick up a few winners and a few losers, but historically, the average is around 7%/year ahead after inflation. It just needs a decade or two to tend to the mean.

Day trading is a zero sum game. For every winner there is a loser. Most of these day traders are professionals being paid out the ass on wall street who do this day in day out and have time to research every trade and make an educated decision on if they think they will be the winner.

Are you going to be a winner when they are on the other side?

I prefer to play on investment for a long period of time, maybe now is the time for you to collect a number of profiled coins in the future. so that it is burdensome for even a few years in your opinion the right time to sell, then do it

both are preferred. short-term investors trade daily in the crypto currency market and pursue opportunities to earn money quickly. long-term investors are those who have no trading experience. I prefer long term investment.

I guess short-term activity is only for the experienced traders. It is an extremely difficult business. Yes, there are some guys that get profit without enough knowledge but they simply have the luck.
That is why i think that short term should be the goal for traders and long term for people that want to manage their savings and put them in some coins on our market.

I prefer to use the long term. Because for me the long term is far more profitable. The longer we hold the coins we have, the greater the benefits we will get later.

Buying a cryptocurrency is not worth risking your funds for more than 10%, because this is an insignificant amount from the common funds.

Long term sometimes can have a very high risk if you hold it for long enough and the market continued to fall. But, besides that, long term investments can give you a lot more profit.
And for the short term investments is the opposite. Both have pros and cons so choose wisely which is the best with the situation.
