IMF approved a 17 billion dollar credit to Ukraine. The country has officially been enslaved.

Quote
International Monetary Fund staff endorsed a $17 billion loan to Ukraine to help the government pay its debts amid a projected economic contraction of 5 percent this year, according to government officials who have seen the recommendations.

They are just giving loans, not the subsidies which were given by Russia. They will have to pay this money back in a short time duration. Effectively, the IMF has re-structured the Ukrainian debt, without giving them a penny.  Grin

About 100 armed people attacked a military base in Artemovsk, Donetsk region. they used automatic weapons, grenade launchers and splintering handgrenades. No casualties, one soldier wounded:

This could be financially bad news for the Kiev junta:

Ukraine coal miners on strike, refuse to pay Kiev coup damages bill

Quote
Over 2,000 coal miners in Lugansk region have been on strike for the second day running, demanding higher wages and refusing to accept a pay cut to fund the restoration of Kiev, which suffered damage during the coup that overthrew the government.

Quote
“The mining industry employs about 500,000 people throughout the region, provides about 15 percent of the country's GDP and coal alone is 30 percent of Ukraine's energy consumption,” Sleboda says.

The article:
http://rt.com/news/154432-coal-miners-strike-ukraine/

And a very relevant quote from one of the miners:

Quote
“I don't understand why are we involved!” one of the protesting miners, Stanislav Denisenko told Itar-tass. “It was not us who dismantled the stones and burned the houses down. I get about 900 hryvna a month, that is around 9,000 rubles ($260). I don't understand why they are taking away my salary.”

...

“We are also against Kiev's junta. We do not recognize their authority. It is not legitimate. We stand for the memory of our ancestors fighting alongside Russians. We're all Slavs. We are one nation. We do not have heroes such as Bandera and Shukhevych. We are against these people because they are destroying our history,” one of the protesters said during the second day of the strike.

Hmm... Should Bitcoin miners show solidarity. Wink

Simon Ostrovsky, a journalist for Vice News, has been covering the crisis in Ukraine for weeks and was reporting about groups of masked gunmen seizing government buildings in one eastern Ukrainian city after another.

Pro-Russia insurgents who have been occupying police stations and other public buildings in eastern Ukraine for more than a week are defying the accords that Russia and Ukraine signed last week, urging on all parties in Ukraine to lay down the arms and vacate the public offices.

Lavrov: If Russian troops attacked, we'll respond in line with int'l law

Very dull response. The Kiev nazis are not going to attack the Russian soldiers across the border. They are going to attack the Russian citizens in Oblasts such as Donetsk and Lugansk. Lavrov should have warned Kiev that he would response in kind if the Russian passport holders are attacked. Rather he chose not to use the term.

And it looks like Kiev is back on its route to self-destruction:

Lavrov accuses Ukrainian authorities of not following Geneva accord:
http://ria.ru/world/20140423/1005096168.html

Kiev has not done any single thing of what was agreed in Geneva, says Lavrov.

Furthermore, Kiev resumes a full-scale offensive in the South-East (again):
http://1prime.ru/Politics/20140423/783377836.html

Entrance to Donetsk is manned by law enforcements (the article does not say, if they are pro-Kiev or pro-Ukrainian), checking incoming vehicles for weapons and other dangerous goods:

And, apropos of nothing, Turchinov's real surname is Cohan (Кoгaн), which has Jewish roots. The same goes for Yatsenjuk, who is Bakai on mother's line, and Poroshko, who is Veltsmann, and Timoshenko, who is Kapitelmann, and Nuland, who is Nudelmann, and Klichko, who is Etizon, and Tjagnibok, who has a Frotmann for grandmother and Cegelskij for grandfather. Digging deeper, it seems that all central Maidan figures have Jewish roots. Conspiracy?

An interesting interview with Lavrov. He usually uses rather soft wording, in line with Roosevelt's maximum of "speak softly and carry a big stick". This time, however, the wording is a bit more strict.

Lavrov: If Russian troops attacked, we'll respond in line with int'l law
http://rt.com/news/154212-lavrov-russia-will-defend-itself/

Quote
“If we are attacked, we would certainly respond. If our interests, our legitimate interests, the interests of Russians have been attacked directly, like they were in South Ossetia for example, I do not see any other way but to respond in accordance with international law,” he said.

Quote
“Russian citizens being attacked is an attack against the Russian Federation,” he told RT.

Quote
“There is no reason not to believe that the Americans are running the show,” said Lavrov, referencing US Vice President Joe Biden’s visit to Kiev and its coincidence with the renewed counter-terror operation on activists in East Ukraine.

“It’s quite telling they chose the moment of the Vice President of the US’ visit to announce the resumption of this operation because the launching of this operation happened immediately after John Brennon’s [head of the CIA] visit to Kiev,” said Lavrov.

Quote
“Ukraine is just one manifestation of the American unwillingness to yield in the geopolitical fight. Americans are not ready to admit that they cannot run the show in each and every part of the globe from Washington alone,” said Lavrov, adding Washington’s “ready-made solutions” cannot remedy a crisis that it does not understand.

This comes in the wake of Kerry telling Lavrov to publicly call the people in the South-East of Ukraine to lay down their arms, and threatening Russia with stronger sanctions in the process:

They did not have the support of Victoria Nudelstein.

Talking about Victoria Nudelstein, we have to keep in mind that her husband is Robert Kagan, the co-founder of Project for the New American Century (PNAC). The American invasion of Iraq is widely thought to be planned by the PNAC.

Quote
According to critics, including Paul Reynolds, the neoconconservative PNAC aimed to promote American "hegemony" and "full-spectrum" dominance in its publications.

Just found another Nulandism that goes beyond understanding, from the same CNN interview:

Quote
“You can’t compare the situation in Kiev, where now everything that is still being held by protesters is being held with licenses and with the agreement of the government of Ukraine, with the agreement of the Rada, or with regular leases from the owners of the buildings,” Nuland told CNN in an interview.

So:

Quote
People holding illegal arms and occupying government buildings are perfectly OK, as long as they are permitted to do so, believes Washington’s top diplomat in Europe. But doing exactly the same thing without permission is bad.

So , 5 mld in 20 years against 35 mld in 4 years.
I think that Russia was "investing" a lot more in Ukraine lately Smiley.

Russia gave the money in the form of gas subsidies and grants to the steel mills. On the other hand, the US money was used to buy weapons and to bribe the local oligarchs. Big difference there.

That would only be natural, considering that Ukraine and Russia share a common border, while US is on the other side of the world, and that Ukraine's export to Russia is approx 65% of its total production, while US/Ukrainian trade is non-existent.

You have to remember that in Soviet Union, production lines were pretty much spread over various part of the Union (much like Airbus is produced in multiple countries in EU) and those dependencies did not disappear over night with the proclamation of independent states, so Russia's subsidising Ukraine is pretty much a natural extension of investing in its own economy.

I go to all the trouble of reading the news from both sides , at least please read the news to which you post links.
It'a already clear to me that all pro Russian citizens are angels hunted by the demonic nazi forces in your opinion , but at least....

I have read the news and that is why I have posted above. A hit and run attack is different from a full scale attack. I don't know what you think about the right sector fanatics, but in my opinion they are demonic nazi forces.
