Topic: Merit Requirements too difficult to JR. Members (Read 2560 times)

HmMm.. Just like what I've said..

Knowledge first before profit

It's not as easy as you think to get merit.
Extreme effort and knowledge is what we need.
And that's the real essence of merit. It must be comes in hardwork and real effort.
It is interesting to see the topic, which has almost inactive since May, has started re-activating again, especially the new rank requirements for Junior Member rank implemented around two weeks ago.
Are there coincidence there?  Grin
I believe that the topic will become more actively because demoted Junior Members, who felt hard to rank up back, will join it more.

To earn Merit you need to be useful for the Forum and members of the forum. This will make the forum only better. For example:
1. Simply links to interesting posts or accounts https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/bitcointalk-3247259
2. Table for selection and Bounty and AirDrop https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/new-3270775
3. A member of the forum shares his experience of how he earned Merit https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/finally-101-merit-and-84-activity-celebration-post-my-thoughts-on-merit-3306385
4. Directory of the most useful forum topics https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/the-most-useful-forum-topicsbitcointalk-navigation-thread-updated-3534750
It is worth thinking about than each of us will be useful to the Forum.

Some very good links, the best you can do is to embrace the system and try to make useful posts the benefit the forum as a whole. I think there are less spam posts now already since you need merit to become JR and it's a good development.

Myself, I am on that list of all-time most generous merit-senders, but the catch is that I don't merit anyone who writes crappy English--unless the post is particularly useful and I can reasonably understand it.  Sadly, most posts forum-wide don't meet those criteria.  I love handing out merits to posts that deserve it, but the vast majority of posts by the non-native English writers aren't even constructive.  Most are vapid nonsense obviously designed to meet the minimum number of characters such that the writer will get paid from the campaign he's in.

I'm on that list as well, and I've tried a variety of projects to try to help members to improve their posting and gain merit. Despite all this whingeing and chest beating about merits, you can count the number of members who are trying to take advantage of the projects on the fingers of one foot. This is my latest project for posters on the local language boards - https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/translations-of-some-of-the-best-posts-on-the-local-language-boards-4034912
We'll see how that goes, but I expect that will end up on the shelf as well.

my old (hacked) account was few more days to become full member.
made a new account (this one) and asked a mod to restore it, still no answer until now.
i thought, okay, i'll just use this one and become a full member in few months time, then this merit rules came up.

now look at my account, enough activity points to be a full member but still a jr. member because i have no merit at all.

no problem though since i don't care anymore about this rank system, it's silly.

this.
i'm not a native speaker myself but i got irritated everytime i see people write in crappy english or using google translator but their text only half translated and they don't even bother to correct it  Angry

Yes the system is too harsh and strict for newcomers. Apart from encouraging them we are inflicting fears in their minds

   THIS IS JUST SO TRUE.
Higher ranking users kept saying we should shut up and stop ranting about the merit system but they did not experience it in the first place. Sure, having a merit system may reflect on the capability of a user to create useful posts, but how about the responsibility of those who own sMerit? Who has the eagerness to read replies in a thread and give merit? It's actually too hard and a matter of luck. No matter how you construct posts, if no one who has sMerit will recognize it, you can't get one.
Assuming this is your one-and-only account, I'd have to say that you registered at an inconvenient time.

I'd also say that you apparently don't realize why the system was put in place.  It wasn't just for the hell of it.  It was to keep shitposters from ranking up at-will, because that had become a glaring problem.  The ones who complain about how their posts aren't earning merit are usually the ones who mistake post length for post quality, never understanding that a 200-character post in scrambled English won't ever be worthy of merit by anyone fluent in that language.

I see so many good posts not being rewarded with Merit, and although I get the essence of why it's been created, I just don't think it works. Disappointing addition to the forum.

Recently, I saw a thread which someone used to cheat in Merit Systems. It such a pain to know that somewhere out there in this forum is cheating. I used to see some good and quality post of others too but they are not credited for it, it is quite sad though.
I also, find it difficult to rank up though I also understand the essence of why Merit System existed, but I wish it should be adjusted fairly because it is really hard to get even one merit, and most of the campaigns are accepting from member to legendary. I hope they’ll do something about this.

From what I recently noticed on the forum, that the less one needs merit the more and the faster he gets it and vice versa if you need merit and chase after them you will not get anything. Here on BTT users are very perceptive and sensitive to all kinds of attempts to break or stretch rules and very quickly and accurately sensing the true intentions of others. So, if you write posts just to get merit, the effect will be completely opposite and you will not get anything in the end. If you start to enjoy what you are doing here on BTT and stop only hunting for merits, then in a while, you will see how merits arrive into your account. So, stop hunting for them only, enjoy writing and discussion. You will find out then how easy it is to get merits when you combine pleasant and beneficial.

I'm not asking you merit and I don't want to get merit that way (reporting other people, they may be just struggling earning merit like me). I'm

just pointing out the dark side  of merit system. I hate to repeat this but in this Meta box, legendary and hero members give each other a lot of

merits as a way of liking or agreeing in their attempts against crybabies (seriously, I don't find any meaningful thing from those legends or

heroes' post or comment). Besides, if merit system is a policy then let the community judge it. If it works, people should automatically benefited

from it instead of being nominated by other (to receive merit).

I cant read this shit, why all the spaces? why does it look like this is written by someone with learning difficulties? do you not see the correlation between the above and no merits?

No offense but what if I show you a lot of low quality posts but still get merit?

Do so, or you could do what I asked. one will get you merit, the other wont

Nice findings, TMAN!
3 months you say, Mr Altcoin bounty hunter..

Then why oh why:
Date Registered:   July 14, 2017, 11:58:41 PM

another purchased account?

Furthermore, the thread is likely composed using Google translator or something like that. Words, sentence structure makes me hard to understand, maybe I am not a non-native English speakers; but I believe it is really hard to understand.
Such messy thread will never earn any merit.
Me too, I have been in the forum for more than 3 months if I remember correctly, and currently I'm still a member of Jr no less.
The truth is to get very hard merit
And merit is not limited to it? If so then of course will be rare

There is no hard work for a hard working man, it was made for us to be worthy of the right time, all we have to do is to improve our writing skills, understand how appropriate we are to the question, all we have to do is to impress them with what we say in this forum, for us to be given merit,  also they gave us a guide on how to get some merit, check this one https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2766177.0https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2766177.0
All we have to do is read and follow what is says.

I have seen sooo many high quality posts around here which deserves at least a few merits, but who gets nothing because no one is sharing. So don't expect it to be easy. But good luck, and hope you make it! Smiley

They are too difficult for everyone.
But I learned to live with it. I'll never be a high ranked member, maybe not even a member lol.
This system is probably here to stay. I don't like it but that's the way it is. Signature campaigns are not the only way to make money, there are many others so we might as well accept it and move on.
