I, too, believe, that the current system merit not friendly for newcomers. Unfortunately, this is the fault of the users themselves, who have too much FLUD on the forum.

Not friendly for newcomers ? I really think with the current merit system, it is easier for newbies to rank up. They just need 10 merit points for this. This can be achieved with a single thread posting some unique and useful content like stats related to members or an infographic. For the senior members, who now need 100 merit points or above to rank up, this is little hard to achieve. I also believe that merit sources will try to encourage new members more in comparison to the old members by giving merit points.

who are readily to send you merits if they think your threads deserved.
You idiots just don't realize how shitty your English is.  That's the main reason you're not getting merit.

If a fluent speaker such as myself finds your posts to be meritless, what do you think the rest of the pajeets (if they even read your posts) are going to think?  They're giving all their merit points to alt accounts and friends anyway--which will earn those fuckers red trust, and it's much deserved.

Yeah. This is gonna work out just fine.
Simply give merit abusers red trust. I think they should be banned (temporary, then permanent). It's hard to imagine the cases of merit exchanging from main accounts to alt-accounts, then return exchanging from alt-accounts to main-accounts, again and again.
For example:
Main account have 100 sMerits to send to one alt-account, then the alt get 50 sMerits to send back to main one, which will get more sMerits to send. Next round, main account send 50 sMerits to alt-acc, and so on like this:
Main account            Alt account
100                         0
100                         50
50                           25
25                           12
12                           6
6                             3
3                             1
And finally, over many rounds, main accounts will have 50+25+12+6+3 = 96 more Merit points
Alt-account will have 50+25+12+6+3+1 = 97 more Merits points.

In total the guy will get 193 more Merits points. It's terrible abusement.

I think those ones try abusing merit system should be banned.

Merit requirements too difficult not just to JR. Members but also to other members who want to be promoted also, I really felt sad and discouraged about this MERIT REQUIREMENTS that they are imposing in this forum because all LOW RANKING MEMBERS like us will never have the opportunity to promoted a higher rank anymore because who do you think will spend their time reading our posts and then giving us a MERIT? everybody in this forum are busy doing their own thing so having a MERIT is next to impossible thing. This is just a big discrimination for low ranking members which denies them the opportunity to be promoted.

Looking at your post history, I think you have tried writing constructive, high-quality threads in order to receive merits, but you didn't get them.
In my opinion, your problem maybe you didn't put creative ideas into your recent posts.

Creativity is one of the most interesting factors that can catch attention of higher-ranked users, who are readily to send you merits if they think your threads deserved.

Imagine, if you are now already struggling to become a Member then how much more when you are aiming to become a Senior Member like me. But don't feel discouraged, take it as a challenge and use it for motivating yourself to make better posts. Smiley

Stop asking for merits because there's no assurance that you will received one. Just continue making quality posts and hope that it will be noticed by others but you could also try to push your luck on the Services where others offer free post reviews. Smiley

If you're join this forum and expect for merit than this forum is no longer same like old time, you can do nothing except ADAPT !

This forum is great and I won't be surprise if more people getting interest to visit the forum from time to time but as for now, it's a bit challenging !

Yes, Bitcoin is a bit challenging right now because of merit system, yes it is not like before in signature campaign that you just need to be active from time to time and you just need to reply to a forum so your account will rank up. Now in merit system you need to post a quality a high quality rather, so your account will rank up, but still if your post was really a great and quality how many bitcoin user will propably notice it? Or if they able to notice it you will have low percentage of recieving merot from them and i think that is one of dis advantage of merit system. I am not againts the merit system because it really improved the quality, but it really defficult for those new here in bitcoin.

I think Theymos was quite smart in setting the merit levels that he did. A new member doesn't need merit to rank up for at least 10 weeks, and that should give him time to learn about the Bitcoin economy, and the operation of the Bitcoin Talk forum, if he is serious about acquiring knowledge about Bitcoin.

Merit requirements are too difficult for people who posts useless content, It's not about ranks. Whether you are newbie or legendry, if you deserve some merit point, you will get it, even if you feel that your post seems to be a high quality and you didn't get yet any merit point on it, there is some member that can review your post and award you some of them.

Nothing good will happen to you if you post this kind of thread that encourage others to post quality post and earn merits from other people, 80%of readers will just poke you and discouraged you! I wish there is a free page where in we can just say good luck! But I'll just do that in Twitter. Anyway good luck earning merits from others, expect to earn ten merits in six month!

Smiley Smiley I believe that a current merit system will jot be able yo attack new comers unfortunately it has a fault with the users them selve who have too much glud fovthe forum and then there are other threads about merit there are many more concern about a system or a forum should be posted on meta not here and this is a bitcoin discussion then you still have been familiar with but need to try to do a proper next time this the new  member and complained about it for all there is no choice really.should be follow on a system and for a forum sake as well and before all get amount of merit to get as menbim rank I will not find it difficult to all have a perseverance and wagerness to create and contributed well into the forum provide time in new system and each of them should be in good standing .

Actually earning merit points is kinda hard especially for beginners. It really requires them double effort to learn more, for them to come a good quality post and have merit points. But in some way, it teaches everyone to love and understand fully with the heart the whole cyptocurrency, so even a beginners can know a lot and used for the new merit system.

There does seem to be a fine between what posts should get merit and those that don't I have seen many merit given to smart ass comments than posts that actually have body and do add positively to the forums.
Unfortunately you guys are going to find it a struggle and hopefully you can get merit, where it is deserved. Then when you have smerit you give that where you think it is deserved.
I don't expect lower ranks to write full dissertations about crypto currencies. In my view if a post is considered constructive and not flat out spam then merit should be awarded.

many signature campaign bounties are closing for jr members like us. Gaining merit is not easy i have many quality post also but i didnt get merit.  just post informative and useful in this forum. keep on trying and dont be discourage in merit system. goodluck
The only thing you post are bloated dissertations on how great bitcoin is and how we need knowledge and hardwork to acheeve our goals and we can do trading to earn higher profit and sell when bitcoin is high....does that all sound familiar?  You post the same uninteresting, poorly-written shit as every other person in your dirt road village.

None of your posts stand out in the mega spam threads you post in, so what do you expect?

The only way you're ever going to get enough merit to rank up is if you suck off the right merit source, and I'm sure the line for that one extends around the block.  It's members like you that I'm waiting for to give up the futile effort and just go away.

You are not wanted.
Your posts are good enough as a Jr.member, so don't lose hope and continue what are you doing. Maybe your some posts was not yet counted to the tastes of some users but that is not means that no one can appreciate your posts.

I suggest to explore more and be confident to the quality of your posts you've been made. Aside on that try to review some articles that given you a lot of idea regarding with the bitcoin and other crypto currencies. Don't beg for some smerits because at the right time it is coming to you.

So I joined a signature campaign and they removed JR. Member bounties. Now I am having a problem on how to be a Member ranked. I just learned that I need 10 merits to have a member rank. So to any JR. Member here, let's do our best to make quality content so that someone will recognize our efforts in making our community better.

If anyone can provide a link to people giving merits after doing something good or productive please give link so I can earn merits not by asking people but because of my effort and for JR. Members to have a reference too.

Thank you so much. Have a nice day  Smiley
Very sorry, there will be more and more reward jr can not participate in the future, this unfair phenomenon is expanding.
