There is no rain expected during the sprint and race both for now. Actually it is really surprising to see this because heavy rain is expected earlier than the race for example. Rain could have made the remaining events really enjoyable for us. Qualifying results came different due to rain for example.

Under normal conditions, it is very difficult for any driver to compete with Verstappen at a similar level. Verstappen had big difficulties in Singapore under rain. I wonder how good he would be here under same conditions if the weather prediction changes before the race.

Wasn't able to watch qualification yesterday and when I saw that Magnussen won, I thought it's joke. It's one of the biggest surprises of the season and his reaction after it was priceless. Very happy for him. Anyway, I doubt that he will be able to hold Max behind longer than until first corner.

(I do not remember much when it snowed to be fair, anyone remembers anything like that?)
LOL, it would be interesting to see F1 cars racing on snow with winter tyres with spikes or chains Cheesy. Something similar what Red Bull have done few years ago :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LgFyFGeL604
But seriously, F1 calendar is made in such way to avoid cold weather and potential snow. This why we don't have races in Europe and Canada in November

Magnussen got very very lucky but it is also important how long they could keep that luck. It is understandable after such a situation why Mick Schumacher doesn't have any team offers, I am upset that Daniel Ricciardio doesn't have a contract neither and Mick too, both racers I really like, but Mick became 20th in a qualify that his teammate became first, sure the first was just a pure luck I don't deny that but being in Q3 wasn't luck, that part was talent whereas Mick became the very last.

Now it’s very important for Magnussen to keep that position as long as possible, of course other teams will pass him, there is no doubt and he won't be first, but how low he will go down is the key here, being 5th for example would be awesome, being in top 10 is not achievement when you start at the pole, so top 5 should be the aim when they have such a once in a million time chance.

Most likely Magnussen will lose his place in the first corner or at the very latest in the early laps,I am sure Redbull will not have any trouble to just surpass a Haas car because they are far superior in both engine, aerodynamics and also Verstappen is a much better driver than Magnussen.

The important part of the sprint race is for other drivers to improve their positions for the race of tomorrow as for tonight I doubt that Verstappen will not win this sprint race.

Max Verstappen is not really concerned with the championship at the moment. Why should he? He is very hungry and wants to win all the remaining races. His 5th place in training doesn't matter much to him I think. When we really start racing, we often see the real Verstappen and how good he is. In training sessions you have a free track and or you do not have to overtake cars and it is only 1 lap each time. I think Verstappen is the greatest F1 talent there has ever been.

Magnussen moved fast from the rain and took pole position at Interlagos and it was an interesting day. The Haas F1 team thus achieved the best grid ranking in their Formula 1 career. We wish this coincidence didn't happen on a Sprint Qualify weekend but that doesn't change the fact that we had a fun qualifying session nonetheless. From q3 to the first 5 minutes of q1 all cars pushed through the session. The standings changed instantaneously and some of the names that stood out in all sessions showed that they were ambitious for their front grid positions. Especially Alonso, despite his age, is extremely energetic and still a very fast driver. He probably could have pushed his good form higher this season had he not been grappling with his stamina issues.

How Ferrari keeps failing every single time.

This is embarrassing

I don't know if it's just an excuse, but I've been reading that Ferrari is justifying the poor performance by the fact that they are focused on developing a "new car" for the next F1 season in 2023.
One thing we all know... Ferrari has invested a lot for the 2022 season and many here believed that it would be achieving a better place (or at least failing less).
Will a few more billion-dollar investments make a difference for next year?

It will make a difference if those few billion dollars more are invested in the right part of the car development. If they just spend this balance without a clear goal it is going to fail them,Redbull spent them wisely as in the beginning they were not performing very well but after spending a bit more than the budget cap and spending them where they saw they had problems soon brought new car performance which completely dominated the season after the 6th or 7th race.

For the sprint today it is going to be a really good race as it is starting first Magnussen but I doubt he will finish first,Verstappen is just at his tail and in the race we know how aggressive Verstappen is.

It's time to watch WSBK at Pertamina Mandalika Circuit. From yesterday until today I have seen Yamaha's Toprak excel in scoring his time and several times being the All Laps Record Team in Free Practice and Superpole. Looks like the WSBK race this time will be very fierce in Mandalika starting today for Race1 until tomorrow for SP Race and Race2 if the weather can be sunny or not raining, because now in Indonesia it rains very often.

Much? Since Formula 1 is taking place most of the time during Spring / Summer / Autumn and races in Spring / Autums being in the desert / tropical countries like Brazil or Mexico, there's just no chance to see snow in Formula 1. Maybe a hailstorm can happen but a hailstorm would certainly result in a red flag of course.  Cheesy

Great pole from Magnussen, lets see how many points he can get tomorrow.
Surviving the first corners should also be important for him.  Smiley

It was definitely the weirdest one we have ever seen in a long long time. Sure the rain situation did make it happen, and Ferrari would have been lucky if the rain came a bit earlier, and there was no crash, but at the end of the day, they were the unlucky ones. In a season where Hamilton, Vettel and Alonso all failed to get a pole position as a whole season, Kevin fracking Magnussen got it and that's really a shocking thing. This was a very weird one for sure, and we are going to see Max end up passing him easily, of course, both on sprint and on the race itself it will not become an issue, but even the pole itself is definitely a great thing to be happy about.

I wonder where Magnussen will be able to finish the sprint race. It is obvious that there is no way they are retaining the lead. But I assume he would lose a few positions the most. Verstappen should be able to start from the first position to the main race.

I don't think that there will be any driver to bother him much in the race as usual. Leclerc - Perez duel can be delightful to watch. Perez is starting right ahead of Leclerc as far as I can see. Maybe Ferrari are still continuing to block Leclerc's way by unbelievable mistakes but Leclerc would still do his best to beat Perez in the race.

A very fine performance by Kevin Magnussen to keep Verstappen from sprint race victory. Not that Verstappen will sleep worse because of that, but Magnussen normally never wins anything. It was actually a very boring season this year, only in the beginning we had the necessary tension when Leclerc also managed to win some games. But after that he has not managed to win a single circuit. Would Hamilton have made any plans for the coming season? It seems unacceptable to me to give Hamilon the same bad car again next season.

It was one of the very interesting qualifying sessions in the recent times truthfully.  Grin  Because we witnessed a huge surprise such as Magnussen's taking the pole position! It was a very special moment for him and Haas at the same time. Because as far as I know this is the first ever pole position for not only him but also the team. They will definitely celebrate this big success until the sprint race tomorrow.

In addition to that Ferrari were very disappointing again. They decided to try a different strategy for Leclerc and chose inters for him. However it was a huge mistake and he pitted right away. He was so angry and rightful about that too. Because after getting softs Russell made a mistake and got stuck in gravel. There was a red flag after that and Leclerc couldn't have any lap time as a result. As the rain started later on there was no meaning for the drivers to go for their second lap attempts.

Sao Paolo is starting today, it’s going to be a bit wild weather we do not know how it will be. People know that wet weather, like rain and such do make a difference (I do not remember much when it snowed to be fair, anyone remembers anything like that?) and that’s fine but people forget that too hot is a thing too, and if it’s too hot you don't race very well, and what is expected this week is from weather to go from hot to cold to hot and that’s going to make tires a bit weirder in the long run.

Let’s wait and see what happens, but I believe that Max will not shock anyone and end up with a win all over again, unless there is a crash of course in which case who knows what will happen.

Yeah, qualifying is earlier this time so I expected the drivers to care about FP1 more. There were 3 drivers in 0.009s and this was really fascinating.  Grin

It was a solid session for Ferrari, Red Bull and Mercedes all. Sprint is going to be more important than qualifying of course. Drivers can collect extra points in this session however having a good place at the end of qualifying is also important to climb the positions easier in sprint. I think that Leclerc might be able to get the pole position in qualifying. Verstappen has less number of pole positions compared to Leclerc (6 against 9). Ferrari can manage to be ahead of Red Bull in this session at least.

It is going to be difficult,I believe Verstappen is not giving his 100% as he has not a single motivation why he should,of course his ego as a driver should lead him to perform at 100% but even if does not what he has got to lose, absolutely nothing.

I see very close gap between the top 5 and I expect a Mercedes comeback in this track, last race Mercedes dominated completely the race and won the race despite starting from the back of the grid.I think this track is still favorable to them and most likely they will perform well here.
