Ferrari forces drivers to make mistakes; They make so many mistakes during the season that the pilot has to deal with more pressure than he should and the result is frustration. We saw it in Alonso, we saw it in Massada, we saw it in Vettel and the new victim is Leclerc. To be successful at Ferrari, you have to be reckless and maverick like Kimi. I think it is the most inexplicable event in f1 history that Alonso and Vettel did not become champions in Ferrari. By the way leclerc is a fine driver but is it enough to be a champion?? There is speed, there is defense and he can control the race by himself, so the problem is not caused by him. Also, seb and alonso made mistakes many times, but there is no team to cover up the mistakes.

Ferrari are really such a failure this season. They are still unable to solve the problems of their car and they are still making bad decisions in the race. Leclerc stated that he made a mistake in that turn maybe but he couldn't come back to the race because of a throttle issue. This issue repeated itself after the same happened in the Austria GP. I really don't understand how Ferrari can be this much bad when they actually have the best car in the grid. Now the gap between Leclerc and Verstappen is way open like 63 points.

Seems that Ferrari is biggest enemy for themselves. Something always should go wrong for them. Either their strategy fails, either it's reliability issues or driver mistake like this time. And inviting Sainz to pit when is literally fighting for postion - c'mon seriously? Then mistake for unsafe release... I'm not going to question his 2nd pit stop, maybe Ferrari decided better safe than sorry.
Russel complaining about Perez when it was fault of Russel that Checo left track. Offcourse, Perez wasn't better when in final laps he was complaining about Russel leaving track. But that when Russel caught Perez not ready for the end of VSC was nice.
And for me moment of race was Stroll telling to team to leave him alone in Raikkonen's voice Cheesy

Verstappen has achieved a very important victory. I thought Leclerc seemed to have very good chances of winning at first, but when he crashed it was all over. Not only does Verstappen now have a lot of points again, but because Leclerc does not have a single point, Verstappen is quite out. Verstappen took another big step towards the championship today. At Mercedes they were also very happy I think.

The penalties are cumulative.

The 1st time you unlock a new engine it is 10 position penalty but the second time it is only five.

I don't know what will happen after and why the second time is a small punishment.

I agree with Ferrari this time, they did the best choice for Sainz, sure he would have been second as he would have passed also Hamilton with the pace he had but I am sure he would have had a puncture if he kept racing at that pace or if he would not get the pace the tire would degrade surely in the last 10 laps and everybody else would have surpassed him again. So Ferrari did for once the right call with Sainz, they even got the fastest lap of the race.

Leclerc made the mistake exactly where he needed the most not to do it,now Verstappen 62 points ahead and when Leclerc loses Verstappen extend the gap with minimum of 15-25 points, when Verstappen loses Leclerc closes the distance by just 6-12 points and this says a lot for the title fight.I agree that in 10 races is almost impossible to close the gap by 62 points unless bad things happen to Verstappen.

Ferrari may have the most performant car right now but Max is more solid at the moment.

Keep also in mind Max is already in his 8th year in F1, even if he is so young he is still experienced, the rookie Max was the more exciting driver but too reckless.

Another advantage in the second part of the season,  Ferrari already got a penalty so they have some free parts for the cars, while if Redbull will need more they will take a penalty.

I agree that Ferrari has the most performing car but only in tracks like this one where a lot of turns makes up the track.I am pretty sure that Ferrari will struggle at tracks like Monza despite them showing today that brilliant 344 Km/h from Carlos Sainz.Redbull has a better top speed in the race so far and it would be nice for this to change in the upcoming remaining tracks except Hungary which we know it is a low speed track, this would give Ferrari equal ability to fight for the title although it looks really difficult after today race.

A penalty may result decisive for the title fight but only if the gap is closed.

Solid race from Sainz and a dumb mistake from Lecler, today Max probably won the title.

About the pit stop, was for safety.

In other words, if they didn't make a pitstop and the tires exploded what would you have said?

Had an another mechanical issue and Leclerc got spinned and got out of the race while he was in a comfortable first position. What a bad luck for him. Meanwhile Sainz climbed from last place to fourth, just passed Russell now. But he got a 5 second time penalty from dangerous pit exit.
Lewis Hamilton is going good in his 300th race. He has a really good chance to see another podium.

There it is...  Another throttle pedal issue for Leclerc according to the radio.  You can really feel his pain.  He doesn't deserve this.

Leclerc got a really nice pole position by deserving it all the way. If Verstappen didn't mess up in the final moments then maybe he could have got it. I expect a really tough rivalry between them in the race tomorrow. Leclerc is still my favourite for this race but it is all about tactics in the end. I don't trust Ferrari completely about this and I hope that they don't mess it up. They did a good job in the Austria GP actually and I will be expecting to see the same again.

I guess racing isn't all gambling. Ferrari and Red Bull are by far the best, and on a normal day there is no one who can come close to either team. Hamilton doesn't stand a chance either. That LeClerc or Verstappen will become world champion is 99.9%. And if that doesn't happen, then it's Perez or Sainz. I'm more curious with a view to next season what will happen to Mercedes and what Hamilton will do. Does it still want to drive this way if you're just filling? In the current state he is going to become world champion, and I don't see any significant changes taking place for the time being.
It is sort of gambling in any case. I mean Man City beats lower level teams at all times and yet you still gamble on that game right? People mainly gamble on City and that is what matters. For example, if you had a brand new amazing F1 car, and then like some beetle from 60's, that would still be a wager, it's still gambling because even though we most likely know the result, we are not going to end up with 100% result until it's over.

What if f1 car gets issues and stops? Then the beetle would win. This is how you end up wagering on anything outside of Ferrari or red bull. For example I like to gamble on Aston Martin or Williams getting a point, that really is a big wager Smiley.

Another pole victory by Leclerc, with a good help of Sainz. One more race we will see Ferrari start first and RB will follow. If Verstappen couldn't pass Leclerc at the start I give Rari a very good chance to win the race.
Sainz have to do a lot of work to climb up tomorrow. Even though if it's not the podium I believe he'll move up to a good position to get some points.

^  You know if Sainz had something to fight for in this qualifying I think he'd be getting the pole imho.  Sainz is faster than Leclerc at FP2, FP3 and during Q2 at qualifying.  It's too bad he'd be starting at the back of the grid no matter which spot he ended up with.

Anyway it's LEC - VER - PER.  The first 10 laps should be interesting with two Red Bull cars behind Leclerc's tail.  I feel like Verstappen will be in villain mode starting this weekend til the end of the season.

Yup Sainz was in a brilliant state today.

For tomorrow we can be expecting an exciting race for him, according to sky sports, with these cars should be not so hard overtaking in this track, so he can do a huge "remuntada" and if a Safety car will come...

Ferrari is on another level. Tomorrow if they are reliable it would not be surprising if they are in the 1 and 2. I think there will only be one RB on the podium with that pace of the Ferraris. From my analysis, Perez has a chance of actually even winning. He must be careful of losing 3rd place and stay among the leaders and take care of the tires. In addition, I hope that Sainz is going to come back to position 4 or 5.

In this track is difficult to overtake although we have seen a lot of overtaking last year.It means that for Sainz he needs to do really good at the start to not lose stream. He could have used the hard tires today as he knew he was going to get penalized so for tomorrow race he could have been a lot more helpful for Leclerc. He did great by offering slipstream to him and Leclerc got pole from 0.009 second distance with Verstapen to 0.30 and something.A lot of questions for tomorrow race but I am a lot worried about the reliability of Ferrari in such hot conditions,it is near 40 degree where I am and the same should be in France.

Ferrari today used Sainz very effectively. He wasn't fighting for any position today, so helped to Leclerc by making slipstream which gave significant help for Leclerc. It's likely that he would pole without help, but now it become even more confident.
Tomorrow weather is going to be even more hot. Interesting how tyres will work. Also, wouldn't be surprised if some drivers will have problems with overheating breaks and maybe some engines may fail in such conditions.

^  Close to impossible for a Ferrari 1 - 2 as Sainz is starting at the back of the grid now due to more parts replacements in his power unit.  What has become more interesting tho is Sainz to finish top 6 which he could do.  Anything more than 2.00 could be value imho.  The lines aren't up as of now.  It could take a couple more hours.
