^  Sure but even if it worked out for Button so many years ago, it still doesn't mean that it was the right decision for Leclerc.  It was a disaster for him as every race you're supposed to finish with the best possible time based on what the car can give and the skill of the driver.

I mean did Ferrari really think they could win the race by pitting Leclerc early to slap on the inters when the track was still dry?

And about Leclerc, he really needs to get out of Ferrari as it sapped him off of all confidence he has left imho,

^  If they tried winning by making Leclerc pit too early for the inters then those guys running the team are surely in denial.  As I've been saying before, the team is doing a disservice to Leclerc.  He deserves more imho.  He deserves a better car and better decision making from the pit.  And next year, Hamilton is coming in and I'm pretty sure Ferrari will have a hard time managing both Leclerc and Hamilton.  Leclerc doesn't deserve to be treated as the second driver...

Pretty sure that's gonna happen tho as Ferrari will chase Hamilton's next driver's championship cos it's an easy sell for some kind of next level marketing.

Jason Button in the past won several races with early pits with inter tires.
About what he deserves Leclerc, he needs to improve to be considered the number 1, often this season has been behind Sainz and not for Ferrari fault.

Side news, Botta is rumored to go to Mercedes but he may refuse if Mercedes will offer only 1 year deal.

I think Leclerc should have used common sense instead of listening to whoever is giving him the instruction in the pit.  Piastri was given the same instruction around the same time Leclerc made it to the pit stop, but Piastri said there was no need as the track was still dry.  Same with Hamilton, he refused to pit until a few laps later.

And no point defending 7th or 8th?  No way Ferrari was thinking like that.  As a team they want as much points as they can get at the end of the day.

I think the risk was a good take.
Even if they were pitting with the others it was a race for few points.

They tried winning.
They did the same thing with Perez so yes, Ferrari and RBR are happy to throw away 2-3 points if they can risk to win the race.

Ferrari is really getting worse in time.  Sad  They did a really good work at first. But now they are not only getting away from Red Bull, McLaren is also about to leave them behind.

Ferrari should take action on their downgrade immediately. Not only by improving the car but also dealing with their strategies. Can't they just sign better people for that?  Huh  Leclerc's race was destroyed by calling him to pit early.

Truthfully I don't think it was worth trying it while the other teams weren't expecting a good amount of rain. Red Bull also did the same mistake with Perez. It has been like Leclerc sees a bad dream lately and can't wake up yet.

Disaster as often for Leclerc.

I think it was a good risk they needed to take, they tried to win the race.
There was no point on defending a 7-8th posiotion.

But yea Mercedes found to fix their car it seems, only Ferrari is behind now in the top teams.

Martin led unchallenged and crashed his bike without being pressurised by Bagnaia... I don't understand it, but now Bagania is leading the world championship again, so now Martin has the bigger pressure again.
Jorge Martin is too hasty when he is at the front so that sometimes he forgets to look after his tires when he enters quite crucial laps like that. Because it will always be painful to remember the accident when the race had two laps left before the finish line and the accident cost him 25 points, putting Pecco Bagnaia in the lead. Now MotoGP has gone on holiday again because the next race will be held in early August and this can allow MotoGP riders to go on holiday and train themselves to become fitter before the next race takes place.

So Sir Lewis Hamilton is back to the win.
It was a fun race today even if we had not so many overtakes.

Another potential win for Norris thrown away, he can still win the title but they are going to be perfect now until the end of the season.

Russul was another potential winner today but the car died.

I'm delighted that Sir Lewis Hamilton won today. Nothing like winning at home. He hadn't won a race for a long time, and he did it in Britain. With Norris and Piastri, McLaren maybe gave away the race they had, but it's better this way. Any race that Red Bull doesn't win is good. Grin Lately there was no competition, the races were boring. Now the other teams are starting to push RB a bit. I hope we will see exciting races again.

I was very disappointed and saddened by the problems George Russell had today.
In fact, this was a competition in which he could still guarantee a place on the podium, as the English driver was in excellent performance, coming off a great weekend after leading the 3rd free practice and taking pole position in the Mercedes one-two.

And then, still talking about problems... as for Ferarri's disappointment, with Charles Leclerc only starting in 11th place, I already expected that this wouldn't be a good day for him. I even felt a little optimistic when I saw that I had achieved 8th place right at the beginning, but the several stops ended the pace and hopes for Leclerc... frustrating.

It was a good day in Great Britain.  Smiley  Hamilton did a mega job by taking the win home indeed. I'm going to be honest, I was fully focused on a Norris win. I didn't expect Mercedes drivers to keep a solid race pace unlike the qualifying one. But they surprised me a lot. Even Verstappen couldn't keep up and had serious issues during most of the race.

The Red Bull dominance is gone these days. This is what makes me really happy at the same time. I'm enjoying this season a lot after starting to see surprising results. I hope McLaren and Mercedes go on like that. Hopefully we can see Ferrari rejoining the competition too.

This is the last time we see Hamilton winning a home Grand Prix with Mercedes.  Smiley  But it was such a deserved win though. He was ambitious from the start considering how he dealt with Russell after being patient.

Verstappen was really scary in the last laps but he didn't have enough laps to catch up with Hamilton. But it was really smart of him to go for inters in the right time. It made him gain 3 places and later he was super fast with hards.

McLaren pit crew did a horrible pit with Norris.  Sad  If he had a decent pit maybe he could have still fought for the win. Congrats to Hamilton on his win once again and a really unlucky ending for Russell.

And the winner is Sir Hamilton.

It was really quite an unpredictable race, because from the start Piastri and Lando really pushed and left no room for Hamilton, Russell and Max to get a good position. But unfortunately Russell had to DNF due to a water system problem and Hamilton had to push himself to win this race. Hamilton really understands the characteristics of this circuit, in fact on several occasions he said that it didn't matter to him and he was very confident of being able to get P1 - and it was true that the result was that he came out on top, even when Norris and Max had pushed to the maximum.
And as for Charles, I don't know what the problem is with him, even though he was able to get P7 from the start, but Ferrari's stupid strategy meant he had to switch to inter too quickly and caused him to lose a lot of positions. I really felt sorry for him, how disappointed he was with his performance in this race. Hopefully this bad luck will end soon for him and he can record good results in the Hungarian race later.

He did it again, from 13th to podium (2nd) in the main race although he did not do it in the sprint race.
Bad luck for Martin as he crashed while he was leading + less than 2 laps remaining which give a gift to Pecco Smiley
Now Pecco take over the standing (as what I said last week) and now the position is that Pecco leading 10 points ahead.
Younger Marquez completed the podium, he did reall well too today as well as his older brother who gave the best performance.
For Marc Marquez's podium, I really wasn't surprised because the German circuit is his favorite circuit and that can be seen from his record of winning races when he was with Honda in previous seasons. However, for Marquez's younger brother, Alex, it was really beyond my expectations because he was able to get third on the podium in this race, which I didn't even predict Pecco to win today. But Martin, who was too persistent in the remaining two laps, caused more advantages for the riders behind him, especially for Pecco Bagnaia.

I did not follow this week FPs and Qualifying, but I read some news that Marc got injuries in his finger and ribs during the first free practice.
Perhaps it affects his performance a lot so he was unable to perform his best in the qualifying race.
However he experienced similar thing twice at least, when he started from 13 and 14 but he managed to get podium.
Will he able to do it again with his current condition (finger and ribs injuries)?
I am also a little pessimistic about Marc Marquez's condition for this race even though yesterday in the Sprint race he was able to finish in sixth position. However, for today I think he can aim for a third podium if he has the ability to do so because winning will be very difficult for him, especially since he starts the race in 13th on the grid in the next race. Apart from that, yesterday in the Sprint race Jorge Martin also looked strong so he will also remain in that condition in today's race so he could be an obstacle for other riders who want to win, including Marquez himself.

Crazy results in Britain.
Mercedes on top, and good result for Max with a damaged car he managed to be 4th.

The question is

Can Norris and Max do the 1st turn without collision?

Some words swirling around that before a drivers' meeting Zak Brown raising the issue of 'moving under breaking' which is a dangerous maneuver made infamous by none other than Max Verstappen.  Lol.  But if the stewards do nothing about it then I guess Norris has no choice but to toughen up and hold his line even if it means a collision...  :/  Which then will make the next GP another exciting race weekend.  Cheesy  Cheesy

I'm all for it!  Let those guys race!

Books have it at Russell at 4.50, Hamilton at 5.00, Norris at 2.90 and Verstappen at 2.90?  So we really take Verstappen at 2.90 here?  It's tempting tbh.
