...

One way or another, there is no fucking way I'm going to give Mt. Gox the easy out of cashing me out at today's prices.  If they want to roll back the transaction chain and give me the 50 BTC that results, I'm game.  I made that offer in a semi-formal manner (and documented it.)  Unsurprisingly I've not heard anything back.

Fair enough.  To add to that though, I doubt many of these other exchanges would even be up and running had they lost 10M to a bunch of government thieves and that other lot.

I've always been relatively impressed with a lot of aspects of Mt. Gox throughout the years, and that remains the case today.  I have no trouble imagining reasons why they could have trouble's wiring me money so I don't necessarily blame them for the failure.

I don't, however, see any legitimate reason why they should lie to me and set invalid expectations through their support channels.  Or no legitimate reasons which have a positive side at least.  That is the main reason they are on my shit-list.

Wow, looking at this, can anyone tell me why MTGox is the most recognized bitcoin trader ?
Here are a few reasons:
  • People trust MtGox.  (How anyone can trust their money to BTC-E is beyond me.)
  • MtGox has the volume, depth and stability required to sustain large customers.
  • MtGox is the only exchange with a well functioning multi currency market.
  • MtGox has a very mature API, actually several, which do not look like they are designed by a 12 year old.
  • MtGox is a truly international exchange, not just a local market.  The country with the largest user share is China with 15% of the total.

I hear of them having more issues then anyone else. I have cashed out a number of times and never had an issue.

Being a Canadian litecoin miner, I use BTC-E for exchanges of LTC to BTC, and cavirtex to cash out into cad...

I NEVER had an issue, in fact cavirtex support has always been amazing, and BTC-E... well... you can replace heavy drinking or drug use by reading the "trollbox"... that shit kills braincells very efficiently. (dare I say, my braincells go... To Da Mo0on ?) (sorry I couldn't resist being stupid  Grin)

So again, why the hell would gox be the most known site ?

gotta wonder why MtGox always has BTC pegged a good $50 more than every other exchange, especially when their service is dismal.

Wonder all you like but the answer is this thread.

12/2/2013  -  $6000 - confirmed - no funds received
It should arrive one of the last days of December, unless the shortage of business days around Christmas cause more delays.

Why don't you just take out BTC, cancel the fiat withdrawal??   I'm still confused why so many people have this issue when prices have aligned on several occasions with the other exchanges to get out with no loss.   If it was my 5k I would of done it weeks ago when the prices lined up.   Maybe you've already stated why you won't do this somewhere in the 140/50 pages though.... Grin

I've stated it somewhere as described.  In a nutshell, I don't need the money right now, and I want to keep the option open to make a grab for the $5M that my government stole from Karpeles.  Hopefully we can add to that the $5M that Vessenes stole from Karpeles if the USG can claw that back.

I'll probably never get the opportunity, or get around to this project if I do, but there is some chance that I'll need something to do in the leisure time afforded by an early retirement.

Can anyone offer any insight as to how long it typically takes MtGox to wire money out after a request has been initiated ?
Yes, just read some of the previous posts or the support page about deposits and withdrawals.  It depends on currency and transfer method.

It is fair to say that Mt. Gox's support cannot be relied upon.  I know this personally because they mislead me about expectations.  Or tried to at any rate...I pretty much expected that a positive response would be bullshit.  I was disappointed that they gave me a misleadingly positive boilerplate response when I asked about it several months ago.

The sad thing is that I would have been quite understanding if they would have just been straight-up about the problems they were having.  They had no reason to lie to me.  Now it is my contention that they are not a reliable party to do business with.  (My $5k has been in limbo since last summer by the way.)
