I find it funny that anybody would still have money with gox seeing as one could easily have withdrawn btc and sold for a profit on other exchanges during the past few days.

Cancel your withdraws, buy BTC, wait until the price is slightly higher elsewhere and then sell. Violla, no more wiating for withdraw at gox.

If your in the EU, check out BTC-e, their EUR price is nice and they usually have next day transfers.

If you're in the US, try out coinbase, their price is the same as bitstamp and they deposit right to your bank account.

So simple...

Did quick check of the respective orderbook on bitcoinity

Mtgox: $31.37m and 21.17k bitcoins

Bitstamp: $15.44m and 14.09k bitcoins

btcchina: $86m CNY (~$14.1m) and 15.85k

Quite clear that still lots of people have money on gox Smiley

However, agreed totally that we should use a reliable exchange as close to home as possible, instead of trading  internationally..

I find it funny you think that's easy, timing the market in order to "sell for a profit on other exchanges during the past few days". It takes an hour to transfer btc, there's a chance of Gox holding your btc transfer and during that time the market might as well drop leaving you with a loss. Oh well.

So transfer the btc to bitstamp first? not that hard, unless you have zero bitcoins left elsewhere.

Bitstamp and BTC-e have both proven to be more direct with customers and reliable than mtgox. Not to say that mtgox is dishonest, but they certainly are not direct.

BTC-e's EUR price has been above gox's all day.

now is everyones chance to get out of gox without a loss with the prices so close

Yep, if you are siting on usd hoping to withdraw, it makes a lot of sense to buy bitcoins and transfer to bitstamp or any other site with similar price. If you have euro and are in europe, I am not sure it's worth the risk, but might be.

This picture shows very good how the prices are now about the same.

You know what pisses me off. i was ready to sell when It hit $1200... As I was reading this, it hit $1240. When I realized I was not going to get my money from MTGOX if I sold... DAMN! now its back in the 638 range. FUKC!
Now you understand why Mt. Gox is not a legit exchange. When the price was going up, the excuse "well, you can get out BTC and sell on another exchange" satisfied some customers. When the price is going down fast and you're stuck on Mt. Gox, you go down with it.

Still nothing from my June and July withdrawal. I think I'm about to suck it up, take my cash, and buy in at $800 at essentially 1/8 my original Bitcoins sold. Lesson learned, never use Gox again.

 Angry
Very bad! I'm waiting the wire since September.

PLN is not SEPA.  SEPA is EUR only.  By definition.  Single Euro Payment Area.

[20:11] same for pln
[20:12] PLN and EUro issue is the same
Marionxd says pln & sepa same
Nope.  Read again.  She says the PLN and Euro (SEPA) issue is the same.  Same bank, same limit.  PLN is a domestic transfer, Euro is SEPA.

Still waiting for SEPA withdrawal to polish account. Request made 2013/10/22 (6 weeks ago) value: 423zł . Waiting for Support reply.
Mt.Gox: Situation as of 1st December 2013: We are currently processing withdrawals requested 3 weeks and 2 days ago
Reality:
  • Me: 6 weeks and 3 days and still nothing, just nothing. And no support reply for 4 days. (PLN) (SEPA)
  • BTCWorld: about 9 weeks (PLN) (SEPA)
  • Abracadaver: 3 weeks 3 days (EUR) (SEPA)
Why so different delays and why Mt.Gox is lying?

Christ, coinbase sucks balls dude.   I know its the best option if your an American.  But for the rest of us.  pffffft. no thanks.

I like Coinbase because they reliably give me my money within a few days.

I don't like that the price is low-ish at Coinbase sometimes, at least compared to Mt. Gox where their operational problems probably do cause some price inflation, and there is some price lag so I might have to sit on my hands for a few days before pushing the purchase button when the spot price is on an up-swing.  Usually their price is better than Bitstamp though it seems.  Certainly better than BTC-E.

At the end of the day, Coinbase so far gives me reliable service and does not require me to submit high quality identity documents which could be used for identity theft if they were mis-managed.  Also, unlike Mt. Gox, they have never lied to me or tried to set invalid expectations.  So far I've run $50k through Coinbase while Mt. Gox has been sitting on my $5k since last summer and still has not gotten it to me or provided any information about the delay.  The one time I asked about it many months ago, Mt. Gox gave me misleading info which they must have know was untrue.
