Guys,

Question:

I've tried to mine DCR and ETH using CDM

I could not get any stable operation with default mining settings (I think it is -dcri 30)

Cards: 4x R9 390, -100mV, GPU clock 1100 MHs, memory clock 1500 MHs

If anybody use double mining - what are your settings for stable work?

if you have added all the cards at day one you would have earned more bitcoin for sure

yeah maybe you didn't had the money or something, but you did lost money for sure in that way

Funny how we all start out with 1 GPU, then add another one. Then another pair. Then another entire rig. Then maybe 2 more rigs.....

yeah  but I am almost there. (max).

realistically 3kwatts for me in the summer is a no go  due to heating issues.

with the 230mh-240mh soon to be 255-265mh

I will be right on top of my heat cap.

Yeah the rigs can do 11    r390s  5 at 2 gpus 1 at 3 gpus.

By tomorrow
I will have :

7 r9 390's   = 175mh
2 r9 nanos  =   50mh
1 r9 380     =   18mh
1 hd7970    =   16mh

since the 5 rigs can hold only 11 gpus.

I am near my max.  I suppose I could go all r9 nano and squeeze in 13 cards  since my operation is riser free.  And I know the nanos could be rom modded.. but that will not be done.

Unless what we see for eth has more upswing .. Grin

but here I am for now.

at -100mv , I'm at 150mh/s at 170w per gpu.
not matter what clock I put in afterburner , it doesn't change hashrate ..
I begin to think afterburner doesn't really change the clock when I slide the selectors. I've heard it sometimes happen.
Maybe with the Stilt Bios I could go further.

Should that be 25 MH/s or a typo? How many GPUs do you have?    Have you tried the Sapphire Trixx?

he has 6 x 25 = 150  at 170watts each gpu  or 6 x 170 = 1020 watts.   I think?

Good efforts. But your rig density is not high enough. That causes lower efficiency and high power usage.

These rigs are bespoke rigs to be sold to gamers at a discount.

I did this with

 BTC 4  years ago

 I did this with

LTC 2 years ago

I will do this with eth rigs now.

The gamer will get a 1000-1200 usd 2 card rig.  for 600

My goal is mine to pay rig down to close to 0 cost.  then sell at ½ price.

I know six card rigs are better to mine if you only have mining on your agenda.

All rigs have plat or titanium psu's and model t intel cpus

So a gamer getting the rig  will be able to overclock his ram and his gpu's , but not his cpu.

I have multiple people that I know that like this kind of rig.  and they will be able to  mining while sleeping further lowering their cost for the rig.

If I make a 1000-1200 usd rig  and get back 1500 to 1800 usd on it  in 3 months I did well.

thats a nice clever profitable strategy Philip - newer cards with good wattage are also coming in so in future you can invest on those too without getting stuck with legacy cards.

btw, speaking of legacy cards, which ones is worth keeping? I read somewhere that this guy kept mostly his PSU and Radeons 7xxx from the BTC/LTC days and was able to reuse them for ETH quickly at very little costs.

I had three hd7970s just sitting.

One I have owned since 2012 it has mined btc ltc now ETH

It has a high end after market air cooler it is in the first page of the thread.
I sold two other hd7970 to a fourom member .

So if you have hd7970 cards with 3gb ram they do 18 to 21 mh

In my case I have mh/s shown , but numbers are between 100 and 200 and it changes very fast. So I have to check by pool the average (about 150mh/s) but it's only accurate after 2 to 6 hours...

You need to change --farm-recheck 400 to --farm-recheck 4000. You can see the hash rate, then change it back.

I have grown from 1 gpu to 11   from 18-21mh to 235mh- 250mh.

Based on your average hashrate as well as the average block time and difficulty of the Ethereum network over the last 24 hours.

Period------ETH-----------USD-------BTC

Minute   0.00161        $0.02        ฿0.0001

Hour        0.09670        $1.33      ฿0.0030

Month   69.62754       $959.75    ฿2.1671

I can not do a sixth pc     but  with moving and shifting  I can get close to 290mh.

 rig 1 has  1 r390  +  1 hd7970     =  about 44mh  could convert it to 2 r390's  about   52mh
 rig 2 has  2 r390's                      = about  52mh    that is it   >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>  52mh
 rig 3 has  1 r9 380                      = about 17mh    could convert it to 2 r390's  about  52mh
 rig 4 has  2 r9 390's + 1 r9 nano  = about 75mh   that is it  >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 75mh
 rig 5 has  2 r9 390's                    = about 52 mh  that is it >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>52mh

  so I am at >>>>>>>>>>>>>>about 240mh 2200 watts I      could up grade to      283 mh 2600 watts

I have 1 more r9 390 coming on monday

so rig 3    will go to about 43-44mh   and I  will be at 264mh  2400 watts.

I do not think I am going past that.

I use genoil ethminer , but hashrate is not easy to see with those settings : --farm-recheck 400 --cl-global-work 16384 --cl-local-work 256 -G -S

About memory clock, should I max downclock ?

Do you mean that it is not easy to read ? I had similar problems, with my hashrate displayed in h/s. Now, with the newer versions, it's displayed in MH/s.

i can find everything at around 430 euro on amazon, risers on ebay

Amazon gives me a good price for this set up (I have 850W power supply)

Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB Kit (4GBx2) DDR3 1600 (PC3-12800) 240-Pin UDIMM Memory BLS2KIT4G3D1609DS1S00/BLS2CP4G3D1609DS1S00 by Crucial
$33.98

ASRock Motherboard ATX DDR3 1066 LGA 1150 H81 PRO BTC by ASRock
$72.09

Intel Pentium Processor G3240 (3M Cache, 3.10 GHz) BX80646G3240 by Intel
$58.94

Patriot Torch 120GB SATA 3 2.5 (7mm height) Solid State Drive - With Transfer Speeds of Up-To 555 MB/s read and 535 MB/s write by Patriot
$39.99

Subtotal (4 items): $205.00

Should I start from loading with 2 R9 390 and later add 2 more?

Is this card good?

XFX DOUBLE DISSIPATION R9 390 1015MHZ XXX OC 8GB DDR5 DISPLAYPORT HDMI DUAL DVI
$320

seems that the 390 is the best, but polaris is coming not sure if it is wise enough to buy gpu now

By the time the Polaris is out, you might already have ROI on the 390 cards. These are the best for Ethereum mining.

If your core frequency is around 1000MHz, the memory frequency of 1125 MHz is fine to give you about 25-26 MH/s.

Polaris according to my country's local agent, their Hong Kong office mentioned Q3/2016 launch... so we may be looking at Sept...
On the other hand, those Nanos are also good because of its superb undervolting capabilities.... I am getting a few and would be doing Ellovp/Heliox's ROM mod.
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.14404213
With his mod, the R9s can do the following: 134 Mh/s @ 2.25A, 495watt (6 Cards) stock settings rom OR 185 Mh/s @ 4.8A, 1050 watt (6 Cards) 1020 Core, 300 Mem
Mining ETH is about racing against time (before POS) so you will lose a couple of mullahs if you wait for Sept. My 2 cents.

yeah the nano has pretty good effy, but it cost too much, and it seems that amd can not mine very good certain algo, maybe not optimized/private miner, like spreadcoin and cryptonote

yes those algo are less profitable, but i don't like to have limit, i want be able to mine everything fine, because some times those algo are more profitble, recently i made more profit by mining bitcedi for example, which is cryptonote

and amd has only clymore for cryptonote which is private and has fee, really bad
