I have 6X 390 on a ASrock H81 motherboard. The voltage is 0.984 V and the frequency is 970/1000MHz, they hash about 165MH/s. The power consumption from the wall is 1050W with 93% efficiency PSU.

which rom mod did you use?  Shocked Shocked

I mod it myself, using the HawaiiBiosReader. There is a thread in this forum about using that editor. It is easy.

what brand are your 390s? does it work the same for sapphire, asus, msi, gigabyte?

The Claymore mining client also mines for the dev for a slight time, too. That can contribute to a small drop in reported hash rate.

Guys,

Will it be safe to mine with 5x R9 390 on EVGA 1300W G2 PSU?

 NO.

The R9 390 is basically a bios-updated rebadge of the R9 290 - my triple R9 290 rig with a TITANIUM power supply eats right at 1KW at the wall, despite having TheStilt modified bios on them to undervolt (and other stuff).
I do concede I've got my R9 290s pretty seriously overclocked, but stock clock on them was only 947 (Sapphire ref cards).

4 would be viable as long as you don't overclock and overvolt them to very high extremes.

5 forget it unless you can do some VERY serious undervolting and get the power draw down at least 20% per card, or underclock them a lot at which point you might as well just run 4 of them NOT underclocked.

Will try now with Claymore miner in Ethereum mode only...

flux does happen  my charts below have flux

claymore miner

If I was perfect:

default  would have a 56mh  average    it has 53.0
rig1 would have a 101mh     average     it has 97.0
rig2  would have a 25mh      average     it has 24.7
Rig7 would have a 60mh      average     it has 58.0

I had a windows update  muscle in on the left and dropped to 3 workers
I had an amd update  push in on the right  and dropped to 3 workers

But the middle stretch was stable

and the blue line always moves up and down since they show the variance of shares made.

you need to undervolt, below 200 each, so you have 180 for 25MH and it should be ok

i would avoid to stress too much a gold psu

aka "whocares"
I think I paid $180 for my "refurb through Newegg" 290s.

thanks for info..

At this point I am mining with 4x r9 nanos doing around 100mh at 750 watts

-65 mv 1000 clock  for gpu       500 clock  for memory   no mods

i'm consuming the same with my 5x970, 773w(system included) at 100MH, i think you can do 88MH at 320w(system excluded)

p.s. shouldn't nano be at 80w, with that mod?

I think his setting is not right. I use the mod BIOS with 6x nano. I can do 159 MH/s at 750 W. He should be much higher.

Each GPU is very different and modding your own rom is simple and yields the best results.  Most mods that are done for "the masses" are not the most efficient by any means.

My 6xNano@[email protected]@133MHs using Heliox's -150mV rom mod

Did you use the -175mV or -200mV rom mod to get 159MHs?

I have similar setup with 6xNano. I run 900/260 MHz, with about 760W, 159 MH/s. I use the -200, -175 mod. I use the 93% platinum power supply.

so you use the DPM-175mv.rom file? What brand of Nano?
I am at -175 now, but I use 1060,300 getting 60MHs with 2 x Nanos.
How do you use the -200, reduce another 25 from -175?

The best results can be obtained by modding your own rom for each card individually

My 5 x MSI-R9-390s = 150MHs draws about 1290-1340w, EVGA-G2-1600

Afterburner settings: -100mV/1050/1125 @ 30MHs per card.

I have tried it with EVGA-G2-1300 and it works fine too, however it's really stretching it even for top rated EVGAs.

To have a 15-20% buffer is good practice to ensure your PSU has a long life.

Hello, I have been mining BTC for a few years now, but got interested in ETH for the last few days ( I love messing around with GPUs and stuff ).

I got myself 1x 480, and a couple more on the way...

However I cannot get stable hashrate reported by pool. Is this normal for ETH, as I come from BTC world, where hash rate is constant at the pool monitoring.

I have tried 2 gpus from 2 different locations, and both are doing same thing. Mining at the ethermine.org startum.

OS Win 8.1
Latest ATI Drivers
ASRock H81 Pro BTC
PowerColor rx480

Any ideas?

This is graph of 1x 480 and 1x 270 mining. And its fluctuating from 25 to 42 MH/s

This is 480, with --farm-recheck 200

So I've finally consolidated my four 480s onto one platform, utilizing the Biostar Z170 board noted below.

However...  The stability of having all four cards hash consistently at/near 24-25 MH/s is just not there.  After a few hours, one of cards seems to drop down to about 8 MH/s and stays there.  Is this par for the course, or are other peoples' rigs "rock solid"?  I have a 750W gold-rated PSU pulling about 630W at the wall.  I do have a 850W I could swap around, if that would help. I've been contemplating a script that reboots the machine every 12 hours, or so, to get things to return back to normal.  Are other people rebooting often?

 mine is rock solid

what are your settings?

630 watts for a gold is close to my 590-600 watts for a plat  but not that close.

three guesses.

1 poor card
psu  is weak
a poor pcie cable

mine just runs and runs and runs and runs.

I never reboot. other then when windows 7 manages to force an update on me.  10 to 20 days even with the never update settings.
