This is a little surprising but I suppose it's a necessary evil in order to keep the information sufficiently obscure to keep out non-serious users.

I get spammers is annoying, I get the 4 hour delay. I don't get the logic in making me post 5 times when I have one board. Seems counter intuitive.

lmao, this is my view exactly on the subject...you say you want to stop spam and trolling but you require people to make 5 post..there are some people like me who have come for a very specific reason and that is to sell an item, maybe in the future more items...now if you are requiring me to post 5 times to do so..that is kind of backwards because you might assume im bringing a contribution but in all actualization It is counter productive because I did not even want to make more then 1 post originally so its not genuine, wouldnt you want a real community except a forum with 100000 post from people who really didnt want those post to be there anyways? like this one. If there was not a 5 post minimum then you think I would have cared to even reply to this thread? smh.
I know what you mean, but I guess, they also want people to be active withing this community or something similar to that. It might have been nice though to not have the newbie cut off on the market. Oh well. Undecided

Why are we not allowed to send private messages to members? I believe this to be somewhat unfair.

Personally, I find the "newbie rules" annoying as, I'm more of a lurker and don't post very often on forums, but I can see the point....

So onto post 5!

While I understand your decision entirely, it is a small nuisance to force all of the newbies to wade through the spam. Don't get me wrong though, it really is smart, I'm gonna enforce that on my forum actually. Also (I couldn't resist, sorry): trolololo.

The bitcoin community, as with most PC related communities continue to surprise me. They haven't eroded like console gaming has, and they still care about the trolls. I will happily work for my trust.

This kind of thing is exactly why I am coming to like the bitcoin community! This will really cut down on the trolls, AND the parasites that want to erode bitcoin from within, because they are afraid of CHANGE. The level of attacks on bitcoin just goes to show that it really must be scaring people! They can see it wont be long before the establishment is toppled, and they are doing all they can to delay that from happening, even if its filling this forum with crap posts, or trying to scam people.

I think the requirement should be even higher than 5 posts, though, you can make that in no time, there is plenty to post about in this section anyway that people shouldn't have a problem making a few dozen thoughtful posts!

I know I'm new and untrusted here, I have to prove myself just as I would in any community, anyone who expects to be trusted right off the bat is obviously pretty naive, or is a scammer.

Glad to have found this forum!

I agree, but what is a better solution?

Some forums charge a dollar for full access.  Maybe something could be setup with bitcoin faucet. Like, you can post 5 times or you can donate some small amount (maybe the equivalent of a dollar) and be able to post immediately (or as soon as your transfer is confirmed).

trolling happens on every single forum.. nothing you can do about it besides ban the person and check the ip to see if its a repeat offender.. if it is.. ban the ip.

OK I was wondering why I couldn't reply to a couple of articles, I was beginning to think I was going mad.

A bit of a shame as I wanted to get involved in a few conversations, particularly with PayPal being dropped from Bitmarket, which is a bit of a bugger if you are European.

Still these things are sent to try us, what a shame there are so many spammers and thief's. While I am thinking of it and those that knock Bitcoins, it makes me so angry!

What gets me is people should be angry with the banks and should support bitcoin instead, you have to ask where is their logic. Oh well such is life.

I have a small business and take small payments from all over the world and most of my payments are €3 of which  PayPal take €0.45, on that alone shows you why we need Bitcoin to succeed. I also accept bit coins, but may be I should promote it more!

What these detractors do not understand is that with the likes of PayPal and credit companies can do is take the money back from you after you have sent the product to them, Bitmarket is a good example why Bitcoin is so much better.

OK that is my rant over

Keep up the good work you guys, I am routing for you all.

Due to a mass of trolling, only established posters are able to post in non-newbie sections. You are considered "established" if you have spent 4 hours online and have made 5 posts.

If you have really good posts, you can post a request for preemptive whitelisting in the appropriate topic.

Also:
- You must have made one post in order to send PMs.
- You need 10 posts to put a link in your signature.
- You need 50 posts to put an image in your signature.

Note that it may take up to 10 minutes for your PM or posting permissions to be granted.

That sounds totally reasonable.

Understandable but a bit annoying if you try to reply the first time on a "normal" topic Cheesy
