On flat pitches both batsmen are dangerous and Rohit is miles ahead of everyone when batting on flat pitch as he has a habit of gets going and 3 double 100s confirms that so its obvious that India missed him badly at the top order. I really hope that he comes back and he should take his fitness more seriously and eat less vada pav.  Tongue

That is applicable for the other players as well. Rohit is not the only player who gained lots of weight during the pandemic period. Even youngsters such as Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant seems to have gained at least 5-10 kg during this period. Rohit is in his 30s and therefore his "gains" are more visible. On the other hand, look at the Australian players. All of them look 100% fit.

The difference may be due to the fact that CA is conducting domestic cricket this year, while the BCCI doesn't have a plan for the same. Especially for those Indian players who are not a part of the IPL, staying fit is quite challenging due to the lack of opportunities in domestic cricket.

Australia badly missed Warner while India badly missed Rohit. Great to see Natarajan and Shardul performing well.

India won the match by 13 runs. The credit should go to Pandya and Jadeja. They scored a lot of runs during the final overs, to get India to 300 plus. When the 5th wicket fell, no one would have imagined that India would end up with a total of more than 250-260. Also, credit goes to Natarajan, for picking up two important wickets in his debut for the national team.
India could not have collected so much without the contribution of Pandya and Jadeja. After 30 overs, India lost 5 wickets, then the team went under pressure. They collected 302 runs in Jadeja and Pandya's formidable batting. The bowlers also did very well. India could not have won without their good performance.

If you analysis the match, Australia played bad game in the last 5 overs of the indian innings and also in the last five overs of their innings. They gave away too many runs in the last 5 overs to Indians. Also when they could have easily chased the target, they lost too many wickets in the last 5 overs. It was game of nerves and India team stood out in this match.

We see this happen many times after a team has already won the series. Australia was not at their best in this match but credit goes to India as they were able to keep the momentum through out the match where Australia lost wickets and bowl poorly under pressure.

Did not expect India to win the last one by a decent margin. Very unexpected. They could have probably won by an even bigger margin if Finch wasn't dropped early behind the stumps.

It seems like the Indian middle order issue has been sorted out completely thanks to Pandya, Jadeja etc which is a good thing though the top order seems to be the issue now.

There are two theories surrounding this match.

Theory-1:
The bowlers bowl performed in the same manner as they did in the previous two matches. Well, it is just that the Australian batsmen did not bat to their full potential bacause they knew that the series have been won.

Theory-2:
India should have batted first in the previous matches then, they would have won both of them and would have eventually won the series. Unfortunately our captain Kohli was not in a mood of winning the toss.

I do believe in the first theory as I think the bowlers did not perform as anticipated, our expectation from bhumra and shami were too high if we consider their past performance.

This win was much needed for the Indians to keep up their momentum for the rest of this series. They won a good match by a small margin and this will lift their morals. The ODI series , however, belongs to Australia as they won it by 2-1.

This was indeed much needed win else whitewash would have resulted in demotivation. But inspite of narrow win this will boost them as in the end they registered their first win. India did miss Rohit Sharma because once he gets started then he is able to convert a big score and India would have got a good opening partnership. Bumrah particularly was not effective in first two matches and went for too many runs but today's spell was much better with better length bowling.

very very well played by team India, Pandya and Jadeja partnership was more crucial of the 3rd ODI and those should be rewarded. such a positive bounce back. I hope this result boost the entire team for upcoming T20I and test series.

Congrats team Australia for winning the ODI series by 2-1

AUS just need run a ball to win this match but they only have 3 wickets in their hand whicb may give some chances to India.

Just need 34 runs from 31 balls.
Even i was thinking it was an easy game but India bowled really well pulled the game back and i had to cash out at a loss  Roll Eyes.
Australia meed 21 runs from 11 balls and they lost 9 wickets and now it is an impossible task to chase this score, the new bowlers bowled well for India and Australia played some stupid shots when they were in a good position to win the match.

Edit:
India won the match. Undecided
Finally a win for team India after a long time but the series is on the hand of Aussies already, next India need to concentrate on T20 series which they are actually better doing it especially most players came in the prime for after the end of IPL. Natrajan played really well and took important wickets while Pandya is playing at his best even when he is not completely fit.

Australia needs another 120 runs in 15 overs, at 8 runs per over. It is still achievable for them, but they have lost 5 wickets by now. Alex Carey and Glenn Maxwell are like the last recognized patting pair out there and if one of them gets out then the tail will start with Ashton Agar. But both these batsmen are gamechangers and India needs a wicket very soon.

@pakhitheboss He mentioned today that he's trying to justify his spot as a batsman because he's not bowling much nowadays. But if i put selectors hat then i want to see him as an all rounder because he could ball medium pace and India badly need at-least one fast bowling allrounder.

@bryant.coleman I would be very careful if Pandya gets promotion on batting order, it should be depends on the situation like when India already crossed 250 mark and 15 something overs are left then i could think about it otherwise its big no.

All hail the run machine. King freaky Kohli!

https://cricket.yahoo.net/news/virat-kohli-becomes-fastest-12-044703073?isredir=true

This man is giving Sachin the chills since he is probably going to reach 13K and beyond runs in the near future. Even though India are losing badly and even if Smith is right behind him, he still continues to be the best Cricket batsman at present thanks to his consistency.
Its surely big achievement and if i dare to predict then no one going to break this record in next 2-3 decade unless Babar Azam gets going in all 3 formats. Having said that i feel that we Indians shouldn't celebrate individual records when we are on losing streak but that's my opinion i could be dead wrong.

Carnage from Pandya and Jaddu.. almost 100 runs in the last 7 overs. I felt like i was watching another IPL game, doesn't matter they win or lose from here but last 7 overs were totally worth it.

These two are genuine match winners, although both of them can be inconsistent. Among the two, at least Hardik deserves a promotion up the order. I have a feeling that he will be able to perform better, if he bats at no.4 or no.5. When other players are being given so many opportunities, there is nothing wrong in giving Hardik a few chances at no.4.

Hardik in recent times have being a good all-rounder and especially with the bat. His form is going be very crucial now in T20 as he can be promoted up the order and get him more overs to bat.
OZ still require 141 in 18 overs and Carey is batting on 19. If he gets out quickly then match should be won by India as Run rate required is almost 8. India winning the toss and batting first also made some difference in this match since chasing anything above 300 is not that easy always and couple of quick wickets always add back pressure on other batsman.

It was a good entertainment in the end, if not Australia would have reached the total without much struggle Wink. I was expecting India to post a huge total when they won the toss but they failed to do that but to build the score from 5 for 152 runs to reach 302 runs is a huge achievement.
Australia is creating many dramatic scenarios in this match as India is picking wickets at regular interval Tongue.

Australia lost their 5th wicket and if India is able to pick one more wicket then the match is in India's control and i want to see India win the match rather than surrendering the series by white wash.

Pandya has been consistently performing after the IPL. I guess his primary focus is more on batting. Last match also he played a wonderful knock. The target can be achieved easily by Australia, it all now depends on the Indian bowlers if they can get some more important wickets then the game might swing in favour of India.
