Dear AoBTers,

Today is August 31 and that means that we will be back from holidays very soon (add an emoji that represents conflicting feelings here).

Thus, we'll need fresh proposals for new topics to be translated Smiley

Feel free to make your suggestions in the coming days (or I'll choose unilaterally one of Gazeta's topics Tongue).

Hello @Porfirii, so I came across this post by @witcher_sense recently. It's concern signing Bitcoin messages. A member of my Localboard had translated it already and I taught it would be good to pass also to our various locals. If you don't mind, you could check it out when you are less busy.

As promised, I have just finished my translation into Basque of the topic about block explorers. Added to the list of finished translations with the code EUS (Euskara), which I like much more than BAS (Basque).

Thank you, Porf! I added the translation to OP, to the foot notes of the original thread and I also announced it here.

I have a small mention though: can you edit your post name, please? And instead of "Re: Euskara (Basque)" add the topic title (translated in this language, of course)...?

Done! I already added it at the top of the post, below the author and title, but you are right that changing the title of the post is much more informative (we don't have such problems in local boards as we are obliged to set a title por each topic).

I think that I can help with that Wink

What do you have in mind? Smiley

even if they are not suitable candidates for the AoBT anymore, translating some of these topics into Spanish on my own Cool

Of course, what I meant is that this is not an impediment to start looking for new topics for the rest of the team.

I think we should still receive 3 translations for the existing topics... one from you, one from cygan and one from DS...?

Feel free to make your suggestions in the coming days (or I'll choose unilaterally one of Gazeta's topics Tongue).

Dear Porf, I am very flattered by thinking about choosing one of my topics for a future translation... But, sadly, I don't think my topics will be suitable... And I will explain why, of course... Looking at my thread containing topics to be translated you can see that all of them already have 10 translations and some of them have even more than 10... If you'll choose a topic of mine, it would need to be translated only in a few languages, such as Turkish, Arabic, Portuguese, Spanish and Ukrainian. Besides these languages, my topics were already translated in all other languages where we have translators (Pidgin, Indonesian, Filipino, French, Urdu, Bangla and Russian).

Therefore, if you'll choose any topic of mine, it could only be translated by the translators of Turkish, Arabic, Portuguese, Spanish and Ukrainian... Of course, I would not mind at all to have more translations Smiley

But I believe you can shoose a topic involving more translators, perhaps...? For example, if we look at fillippone's thread, we can see that he has multiple threads there with only a few translations, such as "NERDMINER: Bitcoin lottery miners", "Giovanni Santostasi - The Bitcoin Power Law Theory", "Everything you wanted to know about ES Volcano Bond and were afraid to ask!" and a few others as well. In any case, remember, fillippone's threads are very long; very useful but also very long, thus it will be a great effort for the translators. I translated all his topics and I know their length...

In the Spanish board activity decreased a lot in the last years but at least the atmosphere has always been good there in general, and the few active members who survive get along very well.

And you also have there one of the forums true pillars -- Ddmr...

Ddmr is our best standard-bearer and the greatest local pride without a doubt! Unfortunately his activity decreased in the last months, and, although a few other members continue to have high-level technical conversations, his absence is noticeable.

Russian, Turkish or Indonesian boards seem to be much more active. I wonder what things will be like over there.

I believe that Russian board is the most active local board from the entire forum... And it's also the biggest (in number of users). However, I have no knowledge about the situation from other local boards.

I share the same feelings as you. Local boards are true watertight compartments for the foreigners.

And then we have this melting pot of cultures called AoBT Grin

90% of posts are off-topic, produced by 3 members who argue non-stop (for years now with always the same arguments) about Islam, terrorism, immigrants and antisemitism.

I know the situation from French local board...

so I understand why all the people interested to discuss BTC just stopped to post.

At least you still have Becassine there... Roll Eyes

More than 50% of our "active posters" are already on my ignore list anyway.

Loooooooool!

The mod is cool and does his job well, but unfortunately he can neither transplant a brain onto those members, nor give them any interest in discussing BTC-related stuff. He has opened several topics to try to calm this tendency to hijack all the topics, but it doesn't change.

Yes, I also remember Halab's attempts... and his topics from Meta...

And this is even more sad, Porf... Inside Romanian board, ~99% of posts are made by me and NeuroticFish...

It's almost the same in the French section...

There must be 5 or 6 of us who are "active"...
90% of posts are off-topic, produced by 3 members who argue non-stop (for years now with always the same arguments) about Islam, terrorism, immigrants and antisemitism. They give to the board a depressive mood, since no matter what they discuss, they'll fall back into their arguments about Arabs and terrorism ; so I understand why all the people interested to discuss BTC just stopped to post.

The overall level of interractions is appalling, I'm not far from just ignoring the local FR entirely at times. More than 50% of our "active posters" are already on my ignore list anyway.

As you say, there are also lurkers and our translations can potentially help some of them, so it's fine.

I'm really sorry to hear that Sad it must be depressing to be so lonely or to have some local section mates like that. Your work has double the merit.

I wanted that situation to be the same in the rest of local boards, but after your comments it is clear that it is not in all of them.

Unfortunately, as you can see in the thread created for Basque, there is no activity since my last post almost two years ago.

I see and this is sad... very sad...

It is a reflection of what happens in other local sections of the forum too, where the activity has decreased a lot in the last years.

And this is even more sad, Porf... Inside Romanian board, ~99% of posts are made by me and NeuroticFish...

I'm sure that our translations contribute to a small extent to the activity in local boards, so it is possible that this one generates some movement, although I would not assume it for sure. At most, if someone reads it one day it won't have been a job in vain Smiley

This is true... I always hope that some people read the posts made inside local boards... maybe some which are not even registered on the forum... This is how I started too... We can never know which we may help with our posts, no matter that the activity inside some local boards seems to be nonexistent...

Hey Porf, there is no rush and also no pressure here... Smiley Feel at ease, please...
In fact, I am very excited about this translation, because it will be first time when one of my topics will be translated in Basque. So far I received translations in 12 languages, but none was made in Basque, thus your translation will be one of its kind Roll Eyes

My mistake, I miscounted. It's my 12th translation. Silly me... Tongue

I think you should count once more because, as far as I see (and I do not have a stellar view, lol), there are 13 translations listed inside that topic, not only 12

Also, as a suggestion, you should constantly bump your thread. I don't remember seeing it in Services section, so a weekly bump would be useful to make it more visible. There is no need to abuse the bumping (and it's also forbidden), but if you bump it once at few days or once per week, you will make sure that the topic will appear on first page from Services section. (Needless to mention, when you will bump it, you will have to delete the previous bumping post.)

Later edit: As I said, I do not have a stellar view, thus I misread, LOL. There are 12 translations, not 13... (facepalm Cheesy)

The original topic includes a poll for users to vote on but none of the translated versions. And even if they added a poll, there is no way I could, since we don't have a local board, there is no option for that, afaik.

No worries about that... I am aware that you can't do it without an existing local board.

Please add it to OP,

Thank you for this translation, DS and thank you Porf as well for adding it Smiley

Yayyy, I have now completed my 10th translation with this topic, time for celebration!!! Grin

You mean 10 translations overall? Or 10 done for AOBT? As far as I see, you have only 6 translations done for AOBT... so I think you meant your entire number of translations. In any case, congrats!

So it is 1 from DS and 1 from cygan now.

NP DYING_S0UL, I will update the lists with your translations as soon as you tell me they are finished. Vacations mean that we will not make new proposals for a couple of weeks, but I'll continue to be active in the forum, at your service Wink

As far as I know, we are waiting for 3 more translations: 2 from DS and 1 from cygan.

So it is 1 from DS and 1 from cygan now.

To all the rest, enjoy this short summer vacation!!

Thank you for your interest in translating this topic.
Sorry if I ask too many questions, but I'm a little confused about the part below.

The original topic includes a poll for users to vote on but none of the translated versions. And even if they added a poll, there is no way I could, since we don't have a local board, there is no option for that, afaik. I know I am supposed to translate all of it, from A to Z, but doesn't the sentence below become irrelevant/obsolete/invalid when there is no poll? You got my point, right? Anyway, I'll translate it but also wait for your thoughts Wink

I've included a poll and if you want, please leave a vote which block explorer is your favorite one. Everyone will have 2 votes, you can revise it at any time, like when the block explorer makes changes and features are removed / added or when it goes completely offline.
