This rule is to make sure that the main players don't miss on their club matches very often. With the women's teams, it is not necessary to apply this rule, as their club schedule is not very hectic. FIFA doesn't gain any profit from the football tournament at the Olympics. However, they have allowed it in order to spread the popularity of football and to increase the funding from various government agencies. The same approach has been taken by sports bodies such as FIH, FIBA.etc. However ICC (governing body of cricket) has taken a different approach and they have refused to include cricket in the Olympics. ICC has stated that they are not interested in spreading the game and inclusion in Olympics may cause monetary losses for them.

I do not think it is so much about women's schedule being hectic or not. In men's team,,, the academies and youth structures are already well developed, but this is not the same for women's. So if you do not have the senior women playing the squads are technically very weak. They will need time and many years to get to a better quality but until then, we will see very "old" women playing in football for Olympics as they are still able to bring skill and experience.

Philippine Medal Tally:
  • Gold - 1
  • Silver - 1
  • Bronze - 1

Boxing: Eumir fell short on his semi-finals match as he settles for bronze while Carlo Paalam won unanimously and will be having another shot for the second for the Philippines.

On another news, Philippine Olympic committee announced that they will also reward non-medalists with ~$10,000. Not bad I guess.

The Philippines is currently ranked 46th, and has a chance to shift Indonesia's position as the most accomplished Southeast Asian country at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, now the Philippines' opportunity to get a second gold medal is still wide open after Carlo Paalam defeated Ryomei Tanaka in the semifinals. boxing match, so that at least Carlo Paalam has locked in one place in the final, then Carlo Paalam automatically has at least managed to secure a silver medal from boxing and if he wins against a boxer from England, Galai Yafai in the final round then Carlo Paalam will have the opportunity to get a medal gold so that it will raise the ranking of the Philippines as the best Southeast Asian country in the acquisition of Olympic medals.

Based on this news https://www.cnbc.com/2021/07/29/tokyo-olympics-how-much-athletes-earn.html the Philippines is ranked 5th as a country that gives big bonuses to athletes whos win medal , if they give bonuses also to athletes who do not get medals it will definitely motivate athletes to excel even more.
Singapore is in first place not surprising because they are a country with a good economy.

Yes, I've been quite successful in the Olympics categories on that site. If you see some markets where there is one person betting, there is a decent chance it's me Cheesy
Some of the percentages that are offered are very favourable. The only problem is that with the markets being so thin, the more you bet, the less favourable the percentages become. But there is a decent number of markets there to choose from.

Tomorrow lot of interesting things - semifinals in basketball, handball, volleyball, beach volleyball, field hockey, finals in women football and offcourse, athletics events. Will be difficult to pick what to watch.

Most of the team events will have finals in the next 1-2 days, because only four days remain now. And that is also one of the reasons why I believe that China will remain at the top of the medal table. Not enough items remain for the United States to overtake them. So this will be the first time after 2008 that the US is failing to secure most number of gold medals. Back in 2008 they had the excuse that the games were being held in China. But this time, a neutral country is hosting the games and there is no such excuse.

@Sithara007 they’ll blame it on the pandemic, and say due to that they were unable to prepare for this event and to be honest USA situation was very bad. Also you’ll are right so many interesting events and it’s actually getting difficult to finalise what to watch, but I think I may end up watching Basketball and Athletics Events.

We have another record in athletics beaten - this time in 400 metres hurdles by USA athlete Sydney McLaughlin. In these Olympic games we have quite a lot records beaten in athletics and it's a bit surprising because of pandemic athletes had limited ability to exercise (especially during complete lockdown last year) and less competition to participate.

Impressive thing in skateboarding park were Silver medal has been won by 12 year old girl:

And seems that in all skateboarding events, many medals has been won by children, not even teenagers.

In weightlifting we also have new World Record, where Lasha Talakhadze snatched 223kg:

Though, he was banned for doping once, but I hope he is clean now. In general, weightlifting is very dirty sport.

In the end, its the race between china and USA as who will receive the most medals. Most of the countries aren't able to win any medal in Olympics and return empty handed.  Sad

My country, Pakistan hasn't been able to win any medal in the last 17 years in Olympics. This year we have a hope of one medal.
Arshad Nadeem reaches javelin throw final and that final will be played on 7 August. Underdeveloped countries does not have that much facilities that they can focus on health and nutritionist as compare to the developed countries.

Being underdeveloped is not the proper excuse. Because I have seen some of the poorest countries winning gold medals. Cuba is currently at 13th position, with 5 gold medals and historically they have performed well in Olympics. They are a very small country with one of the highest poverty levels in the world. Some of the African countries, such as Kenya and Ethiopia also perform well in the games. So the issue is not with the lack of funds, but with the mentality of the people. In India and Pakistan, the importance is being given to non-Olympic sports (such as cricket) and that may be the reason.

China is at 32 golds right now, with US trailing them at 25. I don't think it will be possible for the US to close the gap, especially after their poor performance in gymnastics and track and field.

This Olympic Games have been very disappointing for the United States, obviously they are still at the top when it comes to the amount of metals that they have won and all of that but a great deal of their favorites to win gold medals have failed, and it will be interesting to know why this is happening, some people could blame the pandemic but the whole world was affected by the pandemic as well so that is not an explanation for what is happening.

Perhaps, this isn't a reflection of the pandemic?

We have seen many favorite teams and athletes not achieving the expected results and this may be due to lack of training due to isolation measures and even emotional problems caused by distance or loss of a close relative... it's possible.
On the other hand, these Olympics have surprised many people with athletes and teams that until last year weren't known and have now won an Olympic medal. Many of these "unknown" people/teams may have trained much more in their humble homes than high-level athletes who were used to a professional training routine.

it will be interesting to know why this is happening,
What else could it be? Other Olympians were better prepared or simply more talented than their US counterparts. We don't need to overthink this unless there are people who are looking at poor judging or possible cheating.

I am terrible at Fantasy Football!!!
I watched Armand Duplantis from Sweden got gold medals on the pole vault yesterday. he is a great young player, he is the only one person who can jump over 6 meters in Tokyo. Yesterday Night he also tries to create a new record of 6.19 meters, but unfortunately, he got failed 3 times. I think he got WR in a first-time trial, but he failed, it just a bit inchi touched barrier pole. Congrats

Once again, this was an event where the Americans were expected to grab gold. Sums up this edition of the Olympics for the Americans. No one really expected Armand Duplantis to win the gold medal, as Chris Nilsen of the United States was the favorite. In the end, Duplantis managed 6.02m, while Nilsen was far behind with just 5.97m. And the former USSR teams were nowhere in the picture (this item used to be dominated by them, until very recently). Similar to the case with Marcell Jacobs, Duplantis is also eligible to represent the US (he was born in the US, and his father is American).

We still have 4 days to go, although, major competition had taken place. China had always been arch rival at Olympic with USA, if they take a better position this time they deserve it. US will do everything to review the reason for the fall in position and I think the pandemic might also be responsible.

I don't think that they can blame the pandemic this time, because none of their star performers got tested positive inside the Games village. On the other hand, many of their competitor athletes from the other countries had to pull out for this reason. China is at 32 golds right now, with US trailing them at 25. I don't think it will be possible for the US to close the gap, especially after their poor performance in gymnastics and track and field. This time it is going to be one of the worst performances by the US team in the Olympics and I don't expect them to win more than 30-35 golds.

China continues to lead the medal tally and the difference from USA is quite far by almost 10 gold medals, it seems that this time it will be China who will take first place, the bettors who chose USA may have started making new bets on China, unfortunately there is no such bet available in the sportsbook where I bet

Why not try the futuur.com - https://futuur.com/q/category/2738/tokyo-olympics

Just some examples of their items under Tokyo Oympics - (also they have relatively good list of payment methods - btc, bch, doge, eth, trx, ltc, usdc)

Just alternative, because there is no direct item saying - Who will win the most number of golds - USA vs. China?

Neymar's golden generation won in 2016 and again successful this year without Neymar. The football event in the Olympics does not seem as famous as the FIFA event, but it is enough to provide entertainment for us. We look at the young players because I know the rules of Olympic football under 23 years old and 3 senior players. Of course I am happy to see Dani Alves able to lead young people and become champions. But the age under 23 does not seem to apply to women's football in the Olympics, their age is not limited.

Yeah this time it really looks like china will keep the lead in the medals table until the end as they are still 7 gold medals ahead of the US and we only have 4 more days to go. I think there are several reasons for that, the US was not so successful in the swimming competitions this time as australia was very successful there this time. It was very obvious there that the US does not have a swimming superstar like michael phelps anymore who won at least 5 gold medals in each of the last olympic games. Also some big favourites to win a gold medal did not perform as expected both Nyjah Huston and Hannah roberts did not manage to live up to everyone's expectations and did not manage to win their competitions.

I'm not really sure what are the outright odds for US to win or for China.

As far as I know, one of the bookies who have this bet is stake, but I don't really check how many odds for each country that is favourite as the most medal

The Japanese football team was one step away from reaching the final today, but unfortunately conceded the decisive goal 5 minutes before the end of added time. Now on August 6 we will see the match for 3rd place between Japan and Mexico, I think both teams will give their best as it will be a shame to take 4th place and be left without a medal at all.
The gold medal in football is quite prestigious, the Final will face between Spain vs Brazil, Japan will definitely struggle to get bronze but Mexico performed well against Brazil so it's not easy for Japan to win in Friday's match, If it now normal conditions, there would be a lot of Japanese people watching this match at the stadium.

. Brazil defeated Mexican football with pelanties shot 4-1 . Two teams can't determine any goal 🥅 within 90 minutes and lastly they faces Tyi  breaker that results 4-1 and finally Brazil ups the final match.

Well apparently a great example has given us the Olympic athlete Simone Biles, after her return and obtained a Bronze medal, which, is like an Olympic Gold for her, she managed to overcome her fear, she returned with everything, it is very good what made.

I looked for news about this because I actually was totally unaware of what had happened. Very happy for her,,, and at the same time sad that media and fans are having so much impact on sportspeople. Remember Osaka pulled out also before the Olympics because of the same media pressure/stress?

The funny thing is not everybody supports them. I read Djokovic was telling them they have to learn to control themselves on and off court, but of course he got knocked out the very next match and threw a tantrum:)
