Why did you guys want to shorten the match? What's the purpose? The article was only about a hypothetical thing, about what it looks like if the games were only run for 75 mins.

I think EPL can resume ASAP if they play the game without supporters, even better if they broadcast it for free to the world as a charity.

They won't broadcast for free as some sort of charity imo.  Obv money is the issue here, that's why the clubs and the broadcasters seem to be pushing for a restart even if the best thing to do is just finish the season as is given the circumstances.

Premier League teams are losing their money during pandemic which they have to pay their players and staffs even though no match played and lose millions in their broadcast deal. Broadcasting the matches for free is pointless.
All European leagues will definitely suffer losses because this pandemic is not just EPL, with the game restarting it will certainly make it better because their finances will be running again but I think the team does not need to worry about the important salary the game will start again in time near this.

There is a lot of news about time cuts during matches I don't think that will happen because football matches will always play for 90 minutes it's a more normal time.

Bundesliga is still some time away plus you need like two weeks to see if everyone is still ok, by that time it could be basically decided to start back but you can't just decide to start tomorrow, you need to give a heads up as well, so it will take some time. I think the earliest we could wait for EPL to come back will be late June or early July, that way we could basically just have the games but also everyone will be ready before they start back.

Honestly football is easy to come back, they already play like 50 games at most and they played the most already, probably left like 10-12 games at most to finish everything, with 3 games a week they could be done in a month very easily. I am more afraid of NBA right now, 20 games plus playoffs is a lot harder to come back to compared to premier league.

and especially from a player in the Championship who you may or may not know.

Man you are like a bulldog with a wasp. I don't know the player I didn't say I did.

I said I know his personal friend, and he told me they were called back to training and told matches will probably commence behind closed doors. I also said things may change.

Now it seems they are being called back to train. ORLY

If they want to continue the league and end it as scheduled that means they need to rush and there are still alot of matches. Players could be playing 2 or 3 matches per week and that will drain their stamina. Therefore shortening it into 30 minutes for each half with 15 minutes breaks is reasonable.

Also dont forget that the whole world especially UK is still on pandemic . Everyone that is tired will have lower immune system which could be dangerous for their players as well

This could be all just assumption but lets wait for the official news regarding the league

There is a scheme for premier league of this season, From talksport.com news, all premier league clubs will be cutting the time whistle to 75 minutes and will be counted as full season in the end. Source

If this true, Liverpool still has a chance to be a champion for this season. This is a league positions based on Daily mail researcher:

There isn't a scheme to do that. Read the article. It's just the usual crap article from TalkSport showing you how the league table would be if they went with the results from games if they finished at 75 minutes of play. Even if the restarted games were shortened - I'm not sure what for - they wouldn't be re-scoring the previously played games.

It was 1 level of separation away from me. I don't want  to dox my friend to prove anything. If he said his personal friend has been called back to training? I believe it.

I know him well in RL and he is famous in his own right in certain circles again I don't want to dox either of us.

It was not just some speculation. But thanks for my new title.

But players being called back to training doesn't mean the Premier League is going to restart, and especially from a player in the Championship who you may or may not know. Could just be a precautionary measure. The gov hasn't even given permission for a go ahead but teams would be wise to start preparing just in case that changes (assuming it's safe for them to start training).

Better to play 30 minutes x 2  Tongue
Personally I don't see what's the point of doing so? Infection risk will occur whether you played 5 minutes or 90 minutes. The only thing that i think could be beneficial is the time of recuperation between games will be less in case of 60 or 75 minutes game / 2 games per week!

It doesn't make any sense to me either and just seems like nonsense from what people are speculating online what changes might happen, but shortening the games seems nonsensical to me. Either play the full matches or not at all.

@hilariousetc it seems that talksport has got this information completely wrong, as there’s no way that other teams would agree to such a cut off time to decide the new table, as it could impact thier places in the champions league and Europa League.

Furthermore it’s quite possible that we may not even see the Premier League resume their season again as the clubs are failing to agree to play on neutral grounds, and it’ll take lots of efforts from the organisers to get all the clubs on board and restart this season.

If this wasn’t bad enough now the clubs are alleging that Klopp will play kids against them once Liverpool wins the Premier League title, and that’s why they want the league canceled which is a ridiculous excuse in my opinion.

Quote

Jurgen Klopp caused a storm in February by fielding the Reds’ youth team in a 1-0 FA Cup replay win over Shrewsbury.

Now some top-flight rivals are arguing he will repeat the trick as soon as his runaway leaders bag the title — and they claim that is a reason to stop Project Restart.

It seems that the players have returned to England, meaning that the match will start soon in the near future some of the big EPL teams also do the same where players must return to their respective teams.
It will be more exciting in June where European matches will start EPL, LaLiga and Bundesliga are the most fans of course I want to see the Liverpool and Manchester city matches again.
Not necessarily. They're being told to come home so that they can be ready if things do restart, but nothing is guranteed. The government can still shut this down in an instant, but it's obvious everyone is doing everything they can to get football started asap which is easier said than done. Apparently the Bundesliga is starting in two weeks so I think that will be a good tester to see if anything goes wrong or they can succesfully play football in these times.
If testing in the Bundesliga matches goes normally there are no obstacles then I think the other leagues will also apply the same rules because they want everything to be as normal as before.

But I think for the players to have prepared everything to return to their respective teams so that whatever the government's decision later then it must be obeyed.

Speaking of booking betting on high number of yellow cards can be a good bet during this time.

What is your logic here? can you explain a bit more?

It is simple logic.Since I believe many goal scorers will forget about the rule of not celebrating there will be high chances of them being booked with yellow cards thus increasing the number of yellow cards and making this an attractive bet to try out during this time.

Who says it will be a bookable offense though? It's probably not a law per se but a guideline or something they've been told not to do for obvious reasons. I doubt it's something that will get them booked unless they're doing it excessively and don't stop doing it when told.

In response to the they want to cancel everything comment, I got this from a reliable guy I know personally,

Mate of mine in the championship is back at training being told they have to play behind closed doors for remainder so don't believe all you read

Nothing is set in stone and things can change. But again there are very conflicting news and reports saying the opposite to each other.

See I wasn't lying. Its filtering through now

But that's like saying it's going to rain tomorrow then when it rains saying, see I told you. It's also not that you are lying, but believing something someone else told you without sources. You don't know if they were lying or told you something that they got from an unreliable source.

It could be just a request for their player to come back and do some test wether they are infected or not. If no, then they will proceed to train for matches or some other precautions. Well it is still a good news and If thing goes accordingly then we might see some matches to be played at the end of this month ( the latest possible ) .

agree, it could be matches next month, but without audience IMHO
season should be completed, if their is enough conditions for everyone to be safe, it is better than froze it on this point, or cancel it
If there is no increase in cases of spreading of the virus, I think it is safe enough to continue the match or competition at the beginning or after the quarantine period it would be better without spectators. Anyway, this is good news, hopefully this pandemic will pass quickly and the competition can continue immediately.

Where did you hear that there has been a decline in the corna virus spread. I have not seen any news network saying that the spreading has gone down significantly globally. I am only hearing that it is increasing everyday.

Untill they actually come out with a vaccine rather than claiming one I do not foresee any matches to happens in the near future. No one want to get infected especially the players.

Then you should probably stop reading news instead and find your own fact regarding it. You could find the data here https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/

There is less people infected and less casualties since a week ago so yeah things are going good for now. The reason why you cant find this in your local news is because people like you favor negative news more rather than this kind of news. Negative news will most likely give the media more readers compared to positive one

It feels like a long time since we saw PL football. I think it will give everybody a lift in these tough times to see football again. Football is such an important part of so many peoples lives, it’ll be good to get a small bit of normality back.

If nothing else they will at least start to train together and that is important, I think Manchester United calling their players could be seen as a "league is starting" thing. I know it is not directly related but even if it will take a long time before league starts, maybe United just wanted to make sure players are in top condition, even if they are at home they could send someone to test the players and see how they are doing and their body weight and so forth to see who needs what. This is a billion dollar company, they can literally send a truck full of training equipment, food stocks, chefs and personal trainers for each of their players to get them back on shape in no time at all. So, I think this is a prove that league will be back soon.
