We might see this as something not major and considering all the preventions that will be taken and all the major opportunities that clubs have and millions of dollars thrown at the players, we  all now that a player dying is probably not even a %1 chance, its probably more like %0.1 even lesser than that. However I kinda do understand the Mayors opinion as well, even if one single person dies, even if its just a security guy that makes sure nobody goes in without permission or whatever, thats on the Mayor, thats on all the people who are responsible for the games to comeback on. So Mayors are saying no right now, even if they allow it to continue they will be politically able to say "I told them not to do it" and get out of the sticky situation.

What's with the mayors opposing the PL restart plan? few days ago it was the Liverpool's mayor[1], I didn't take his comments seriously because I thought he was an Everton fan and stuff...But it seems like these guys are on the same wavelength Lips sealed

Big Fat Joe Anderson is an Everton fan yeah. I guess they both just don’t want to be responsible for players or club staff potentially getting ill in their City.

Good news any way, breaking -

Premier League return on June 12: London mayor Khan says it is “too early” for the capital

Shame for Mr Khan that it isn’t his decision. Boris said 1st June earliest & he’s the guy running the country.

I really doubt that a team would want to not make money and pay penalties just to stay at the league. I mean basically cancelling the season would cost them a lot more than dropping in relegation because honestly I rather be a championship team than pay hundreds of millions of dollars in penalties for not playing the games.

Certainly, it may take a time to go back up, championship is good as well so its not just go down and come back up right away, however with all that much punishment the smaller teams would drop anyway if not today in few years. Go down now (and not even guaranteed they will) and just comeback next year with a stronger team, that way you can have money and actually get decent players and so forth with that money instead of paying for penalties.

Part of me doubts the validity of this ‘unnamed’ player who has contracted the virus. It’s in Brighton's interests to get the season voided or finalised on PPG as they’re 15th. Their chairman has been very vocal about not wanting to play at neutral venues. Let’s just say it’s very convenient that it’s one of his players who has all of a sudden come down with it.

The thing is the virus won’t go away until there’s a vaccine which could he years away. We’re just going to have to learn to live with it.

If players test positive quarantine them away from the rest of the squad. B&Q don’t shut all their stores & cewse trading if one employee gets covid19. We must try to get the world restarted.

That sounds like a baseless accusation imo. In otherwise, what if the team that keep insist to restart the league actually having players who test positive but the team hides it from media so no one will try to cancel the league? Don't get me wrong mate, even if the league is stopped, Liverpool completely deserves to win the title with the outstanding performance they were showing before this fking virus hit us.

I'm not living in UK, so I don't know the actual situation there. But based on from the statistic I got, the covid-19 case is still increasing there. However I read on bbc saying the universities and schools there would be open on June 1st so hopefully everything could be back to normal asap.

Everyone including me wants football back asap. But players safety must be the top priority. Anyway this week Bundesliga teams are preparing to play on the weekend. Let's hope everything goes smooth so other league would follow.

Maybe but still not certain. The club may be able to force players just because they are still have contract but for some players who break contracts such as not wanting to play, the club will take decisive action and one of them is not paid.

From a different point of view, I seem to be rather supportive of players who refuse to play for health reasons which they must maintain when a pandemic situation still exists, and they must accept the consequences such as not being paid.

Some player may be able to force their own way to not play during this pandemic if they are superstar like Messi or Ronaldo but for majority of the player, they will need to play in accordance to their own contract. There isnt much to speculate right now unless there is some official news regarding this and how will they start the league

Or better yet re-test all of the players and everyone in the pitch who have come and contact with that player, if they want to avoid anymore suspensions on when the league resumes I think this is this best way of maintaining the league to see if anyone else is also infected. Although this is a much expensive approach it will be up to them if the league continuing is what they really want. I still think that there is a possibility of containment here so they can prevent their players for even having it like in the Serie A I heard that they'll most likely play their games south of the Lombardy region where the center of the outbreak happen so they avoid as much contact from possible infected people.

Danny Rose (Newcastle) doesn't like the idea of the PL resuming in June: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/sportsnews/article-8308873/Danny-Rose-brands-Project-Restart-f-joke.html

I wonder if this has something to do with the rumour that was floating around earlier today:

https://twitter.com/SkySportsPL/status/1259744046278418443

maybe he got fed up with all the rumours??

Dont contradict your own words about this virus, if there is no vaccine at all that means extra precautions might be needed not that you should live your life as usual and hope the virus doesnt infect you

Trust me, you dont want that to happen to you nor to any of your favourite player  Smiley . Even if the player managed to survive or atleast not showing any deadly symptoms, their lives will really be on a borderline between dead or alive. Even I dont think all those top player will be willing to risk their lives playing in such condition unless there are some extra precautions.

agree, i would not accept to play if there is no extra precautions, so would not expect from them either
i know that all of us want to see football live again, and that is normal for fans all over the world, but everybody should be careful with restarting the world, it should be phased, and closely watched, so that anything could be stopped again in case of any unlikely event happen, we do not want to see new wave of pandemic, which is not stopped at the moment

on the other hand, expect that season will be finished, and not canceled or similar

With seasonal flu, the world has new vaccines every years due to fast mutations. From evidence bases the world have till now, the SARS-Cov-2 does not mutate too fast and it gives us hope on a vaccine and when the vaccine comes in it will likely be used for a bit few years. It is what we hope and no one knows how it goes.

You are right that the world population have to live with the virus that won't disappear after one year or maybe a few years. Don't let it destroy the whole world, from many aspect. Being more careful and try to live in a new normality.

I personally know someone in Brighton who has had the virus and is a nurse.

I think it was an early UK hotspot.

It also makes sense to reduce the time of the match to avoid players who are exhausted to avoid being infected by covid-19.
But have the rules been decided by the EPL officials? and how to react with others with the rules of this matter?

Still there is no official statement about this yet, nor if the games will be really resumed or not. There are always pros and cons on any new rule in football.

does anyone know what is going on here exactly? I had read earlier that there had been some complaints to this Saudi family, due to some criminal acts. as far as I understood, FA has not yet given the green light for this transaction.
is there really a possibility of rejecting them because of "dirty money"?

Well man, it's quite risky to sell a club that has many fans in the entire of world to a politicians or their families, which PERHAPS the money they invest isn't legit or the political issue linked with their position as politician could affect the club they invest. Remember when former Prime Minister of Thailand, Thaksin Shinawatra bought City but turned out he had to sell City due to his issue in Thailand. Fortunately the new owner Sheikh Mansour can brings City to be one of the best team in Europe now. Another example, AC Milan became a bad team after Silvio Berlusconi, former Italy's Prime Minister, had some problems and scandals which led him sold Milan. Football is for everyone, absolutely yes. But I think it's better to separate football with any politic thing.

A third Brighton player is found positive and he is isolated right now...
That's quite sad  Embarrassed But seriously if we continue seeing such instance where a couple of players from different teams get infections, then the FA will have to make the hard decision of cancelling the season and award the trophy if necessary.

^  You guys forget the buyer is from a wealthy family of Saudi oilers.  I think even related to the Saudi oilers that bought City.

Newcastle could be at top 4 within 6 transfer windows

That I understand but he said

"Newcastle still not getting new owners from Saudi Arabia"

So I thought that wasn't happening

Meanwhile some teams aren't very satisfied with resuming too quickly and about the choice of stadium (source)
Waiting for tomorrow meeting news..
It turns out there are still some players who are positive covid-19 so the whole test is still not done? so until now there is still something positive?

Indeed, some club clubs want to be done quickly because their players are not infected while some of his clubs are too fast because the handling is still lacking so that there are still affected by covid-19.
