Honestly if the virus is beating my june, we could still somehow get the league next year as well as squeze in the last one this year as well. I am not still convinced that we will beat it, it looks like we haven't even reached peak in many places, so I assume it will probably continue for a long time. However lets assume that may is the last month we have all this trouble and in june we can go back. We can realistically ahve 3 games a week, that means we can finish it in july at latest and just focus on next year that way while having august and september open as well if teams want to.

I still think cancelling the whole league will happen, but as long as we can come back in any time this summer or early spring, we could just squeeze in games with 3 games a week and still get back to regular schedule eventually.

Smart is not enough, there must be skills
English Premier League became one of the competitions that received high attention related to the current situation.  The FA (English Football Association) has taken the decision to extend the postponement of all competitions in the country until April 30.  The delay can be extended depending on conditions in the UK along with the increasing number of reported cases and fatalities related to the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
It will be longer if England's condition is still unstable especially if there are many victims because of Covid-19, football throughout the world is now extinguished because the plague cannot believe if this will continue for long there may be a lot of bankruptcy that will be experienced by the club itself.

But Covid-19 in Britain is not as severe as in Italy in reports from the news that in Italy one day could reach 700 deaths a day due to Covid-19.

Continue the actual season (+Champions & Europa Leagues) between [August-November] then a month for recuperation in December then start an exceptional EPL League in 2021 with just 19 games for each team instead of 38 + same rules for CL/EL. We will have nice schedule and time to watch Euro 2021 (and Olympics 2021?) calmly. That's my opinion!
All of these are based on the hope that the pandemic will been contained well next months. We all don't know what will happen next months and will be another waves of outbreaks after the next massive containments globally. If you look backwards at the SARS-2003 chart, there was another peak after the all time high, just around 2 months after the all time high.

I don't expect the same thing for the terrible pandemic, this time, but it is what we have to keep in mind. In the meantime, let's contribute to stop the pandemic by washing your hands, stay indoors (if unnecessary to go outdoors) and stay safe.

...to finish their leagues this year, even with a little delay.

At least, they will help the next season nearly begins on time.
The priority now should be restarting the league in the best conditions to prevent the spread of the the virus. Restarting next season early enough should no be a major factor in that decision.
Football is great but the survival of humanity is far greater. Restricting matches to be played behind closed doors would reduce a major spread of the virus but would endanger the players who can not work from self-isolation conditions. Until the pandemic has been effectively defeated, there should be no discussion of restarting the league.

The beauty of football is the atmosphere the fans create in the stadium, In Arnfield, camp nou and the other stadiums you can see how "diligently" the fans sing all through out the game, that's what makes the game interesting, that's what makes the players give their all to win, for the fans, for bragging rights, no football fan at all likes to see the stadium in lock down while the players play in quiet.

If the league would start up with empty stadiums while we wait for things to improve, then it is not bad, as things get better then we can get the fans back in and return to the normal way we all enjoy football.
Matches inside closed doors will only be run if the pandemic changes in better conditions, not only in England but also around the Europe. It is truly always better for the Premier League and other leagues as well as the UEFA to finish their leagues this year, even with a little delay.

At least, they will help the next season nearly begins on time. Ultimately, the most important thing is healthy lives for all of us, that must be the first priority now. What happened in Italy is a serious lesson for all. A little hesitation and delay of serious orders (strick lockdowns) caused a very bad situation in that nation. England has to learn from it, and avoid the same thing.

But close door matches are not always exciting. The heart of any sports is it's audience. However it's something better than having nothing though.

You know El Salvador already ended their stuff early and declared the champions with only 11 games played! And everyone seemed to be happy with them.
Nah, the Premier League won't take the same approach as a low-tier semi professional football league.

This is today's cover of the Daily Express. It's pretty clear that the FA have no intention of voiding or cancelling the 2019/2020 season:

Well...  El Salvador's clubs prolly don't have as much financial incentive as the EPL clubs to finish higher in the league and get those CL and Europa slots and staying up.
I mean, they do have the CONCACAF Champions League, you know?  Cheesy

I saw some suggestions to play in June and Jully, short closed for public, only on TV. They have a big loss because of TV rights and this is the only way to mitigate the damage.

I do not think they make much from the ground, I mean from selling tickets. It's a very small percentage of the income they had. The main income source is from TV broadcasting and sponsors. The advertisers are their main source of income.

Are you 100% sure?  Cheesy there is much more games to play.
although the whole thing is with the virus so serious, FC Liverpool's case always makes me laugh. After 18/19 season and losing title just because of one point (or few millimetres in goal line), Now is a big chance season 19/20 to be cancelled. Regardless of dominance, he will remain without a title. However depressing it may be for Liv supporters, for others it may be funny.
They (Liverpool) waited for decades to have a national title, and this season it seems nothing can prevent them to get it. But only one thing, the Covid-19 forces the season to be postponed and maybe cancelled. Liverpool has been very close to the title and if the league goes next few matches, Liverpool can make it well. Anyway, it is a general case for all and they have to accept it (if the season will actually be cancelled - that I don't believe it will happen). It is more than a joke for Liverpool and their fans.

Yeah, I do think it is quite funny. Even if they can play 2 more games to win the title, how do you decide relegation and promotion for all the other teams? Or even,,, who qualifies for champions league etc? You know El Salvador already ended their stuff early and declared the champions with only 11 games played! And everyone seemed to be happy with them.

Cheesy Cheesy Oh, El Salvador's league is so relevant.
One game like Manchester United vs. Manchester City cost and make a profit much more than completely El Salvador's league.

Yes Liverpool deserves the title but it will be hard for the Federation to decide whether or not to give the title for Liverpool due to many aspects as you have mentioned related to relegation and CL/EL spots next year.
IMO it is better to wait for a bit longer time while waiting for the updates related to this global pandemic. Absolutely all people in this world want to see something that can destroy the virus forever so everything will be back normal again and all sports events back as usual.

Choice for winner is easily and is not a complicated one. Liverpool deserves it. For relagations and Champions / Europa leagues spots, it is a very tough decision, and will cause massive complaints from many clubs. The best one (in my opinion), is having a direct limited cup between candidate clubs. They will draw slots in 2 tables, and play directly to find who will get those spots. But even Champions or Europa leagues, we don't know that they will happen next year or not. The pandemic has not yet given us any clue when it will end.

Yeah and they were going like a record breaking season as well, they got a loss from Watford and we know that however do not forget the 100 point record, they could have broken that if they kept this up, and that would have been a generational difference, they were that good. Yet now they are totally gone by the looks of it.

Nobody has any idea what will happen, nobody knows if it will continue later or if it is totally over, everyone is afraid of whats going to happen and so forth, we all know that but honestly this is a serious discussion by FA as well as all other leagues, like the league has been going off so long when this happened, I don't know if they could somehow suddenly say it is cancelled and this season doesn't count, that can't be done right?

But for other leagues, it can still be won by several clubs, unlike EPL, whose points are far from first place.
Let's say hypothetically that there will be no more matches of this season in EPL. Clearly Liverpool wins the season title but from the 2nd to 6th position they will always have this regret that they could do a bit more to get their position up a bit especially Utd coz they will end up in Europa eventually.

So they are planning to re-start the season at the end of April, I'm not sure if this will go ahead as things are getting worse even with the lock downs in most countries. Also we then need to think about what the economy will be once the virus is over, right now its not looking good at all and if things get worse, no one will worry about football matches. We are heading into something that the world has not seen in a very long time, I just hope we all come out of this mess and we start to see sports back playing again but I still have my doubts that this will happen in the next month or two.

It is said that during the end of April and the beginning of May will come the second wave of coronavirus.
I am not optimistic that the Premier League is going to start again. Possibly the league is going to end with the current standing with less games played. It is obvious who is going to be the winner of the championship this season.

It's clear 2x more matches for Liverpool will win the championship this season, but the current conditions there is no certainty in April or May that clearly Covid-19 continues to grow worldwide so this pandemic will be widespread everywhere.
But for other leagues, it can still be won by several clubs, unlike EPL, whose points are far from first place.

We see the situation and the development of WHO on Covid-19.

Why not lockdown the thread for a while

without any actual football to discuss

I guess if people are in self isolation they enjoy chatting about the football, just general football chat.
April 30th is when the league plans to start again any way.
Its mean this time we have very short break with next season start in August and this is going to end in July likely if we have start again.

I don’t think locking this thread down is such a great idea, instead we should now focus on discussing what this season now holds for us. I’m referring to the following: 1) Liverpool will finally win a Premier League title, (but they’ll never be as great as Manchester United is.) 2) Manchester United finishes in top 4, and that means Sancho is coming and I’m pretty excited for his arrival. 3) Last and most importantly what happens to City if their ban is not over ruled therefore you’ll see we have so much to discuss till the league resumes again.

https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1257480/Manchester-United-transfer-news-Jadon-Sancho-Ole-Gunnar-Solskjaer-tactic

Yup.  Anybody else could start a new EPL thread and it'll be as if nothing happened.  Lol.  I think it's a good idea to disable sigs in here like the WO thread at the speculation section tho.

And how can you say Liverpool will never be greater than Man United?  Check LFC's history.
