The OP is distorting reality with claims of dev having 2mn, citing a post for the proposed airdrop that never happened and purposefully muddling it with the instamine distribution.


That's good in the broader sense of the cryptocurrency ecosystem. Competition for improving features benefits us significantly. The problem is that no-one is coding...

There is

1. A camp that is expecting Evan to open up DarkSend for cloning and then say "ah yes, DRK was a scam, we are better because we stole their DarkSend and are now holding the moral high ground": clear scam mentality.
2. A camp that is cloning Bytecoin into multiple coins - many of which have clueless devs that can't even make a fricking GUI front-end. More scam mentality.
3. A camp that is scrambling to make something with basic anonymity so that they can capitalize on the rise of DRK as DRK-alternatives because they can't wait for DarkSend. They are not really promoting technology, just trying to get into the cash stream. Further scam mentality.

The facts in the OP are the facts, check them out for yourself.

The dev is the only half reaonable person involved with that coin. I believe there were linux instaminers that grabbed more than he did, even so he knows it was a terrible first 24 hours, and i think he realises now he should never have slashed the minting by 75% to stop others having a chance to mine. He is now merely a puppet bowing to the demands of the greedy drk holders. They forced him to stop the airdrop.

It's done now, lets see what happens. It was another master stroke to develop the masternodes super pump by making it 1000drk to run a masternode ... a lot of people will lose a lot of money on drk a few will make a fortune. Oh well people know the facts and don't mind risking their BTC. Sure no problem good luck.

One thing though, this has ensured every coin is racing for anon features. Then we'll be on to the next "must have" feature. DRK took anon seriously so they have a jump start, the others will be on it now. Then when every coin is anon the next feature will pop up that all coins must have.

But that is the thing: It wasn't a single person (aka "the dev"). There was plenty of WTS 500 / 1000 / 10000 DRK for x.xx BTC from various people (at the start).


With the fictional 2mn coins of the airdrop that were never created because the airdrop never happened. Sure.

I don't think you are paying attention to DRK accumulation happening in the rich list since April and people are still talking about initial distribution. Millions have been bought. I'd be more worried with the #1 buyer in the richlist who owns like 314k (buying in batches through Mintpal), and others, who made the price from like 2-3mn market cap to over 60mn.

I honestly don't care that Darkcoin launched with no Windows QT, or that it launched as a CPU only coin and only the dev and his close henchmen rented a bunch of Amazon instances for it, I could get over a small thing like that.  What makes this coin a complete non-starter, is that the tiny group of people mining with large amounts of Amazon instances on day 1 also got block rewards of 500 instead of 50, and then he somehow thinks it's a good idea to design a pyramid scheme coin emission algorithm where the more hash you throw at the coin, the less block reward comes out.

Every single thing about this coin from the ground up is designed specifically to benefit day 1 miners and hurt people who come later, that is my problem with the coin.  The coin has only been out a few months, yet day 1 miners got 100 times more coins per block than someone mining now (500 vs 5), it's a complete joke.  People coming into a few months old PoW coin should still basically be on the ground floor, but everything about this coin is designed to screw people who didn't mine it the first day.

I don't believe that BS airdrop story.  If the developer was serious about having a legit coin, he could easily remove the pyramid scheme coin emission algorithm to make things at least slightly less scammy.  Block reward should be set to a flat rate instead of depending on amount of hashpower on the coin.

Nothing surprising in the statements made here. People who instamined dark and are now selling it as one of it's strong points. They'll pretty much sell any flaw as long as the pump and dump crew insure the pump.

The instamine worked great to provide sufficient market liquidity upfront, first miners were selling DRKs left and right for batches of 10.000 DRKs / 0.25 BTCs and thus the issuing rate / debasement rate of the next coins was better. Epic win.

Fast mining at the start => quick distribution at dirt cheap prices (nobody valued their instamined coins) => slow inflation next => good for price stability / increase.

DRK is issuing 2880 coins, BTC 3600 and LTC 28.800 coins per day.

If it wasn't instamined i even doubt dark would raise in price because it's dev wouldn't have a big bag of dark coin to work for

If a single darkcoin has a value of over 10$ now, think of where it would hav been if it wasn't instamined.
