As said yesterday RBR got an easy day today, especially with Max.
You can't just beat them, Ferrari today was the second-best car.

Hard to say who is really the second car at the moment, The performance changes a lot depending on the track, only one constant stays and it is at the top of the chart.

Last year we had some problems in the first lap with a Ferrari and a Mercedes touching themselves and pushing Russell out of the track in the first double corner of this track.Max should be very careful to not make any mistake as he is starting in a sandwich between the Ferraris.

When asked from Skysports journalist how will you get that 10th win today he joked by coming first but jokes aside he said I am not that concerned about 10 victories in a row,all I want is to get another Championship in my pocket because in the end this is what I fight for,so he is focused on the Championship although he has already won it.Maybe he wanted to remove attention from him and try to win this race.

For F1 , I think Ferrari will win today as Redbull kinda screwed up yesterday with the fuel on the car so today they will have to run it on low fuel and I'm afraid Max has a chance for DNF today but we will see...still almost 1 hour to go until race start.
What?  Cheesy
Why run it on low fuel?  Huh

Don't you think if any issues after qualifying occured, why RedBull couldn't fix it? Sometimes we have huge crashes in qualifying and cars will be fixed in time to participate racing.
Yes, Perez had a fuel leak yesterday before qualifying but it was fixed. Even if still necessary, RedBull could fix any damage after qualifying again.
Shouldn't be an issue at all and RedBull will be able to run their car as usually.
Or did I miss any important information?

Awful race crash in moto gp with at least 5 riders being involved + ambulance and red flag immediately deployed on the track. Hopefully , all the riders are ok and no real injuries have been made during this crash.

But one question its real? or only for this time?
I believe it's only because Monza is a very fast track and fast tracks are suiting Ferrari right now. I don't expect Ferrari to compete against RedBull from now on because most likely, McLaren and Mercedes might be ahead on slower tracks again, as usually.

However, today's qualifying gave us a few interesting results and I expect Williams to be very strong here. After rain affected Williams in Zandvoort very badly, I've placed 2 bets on Williams:

Albon (6) is very fast and at 6.00 odds he might even overtake Russell (4) and stay in front of Hamilton (Cool and Alonso (10).

Sargeant has had some difficulties but Williams is a very fast car, so getting in front of Bottas, Hulkenberg and Zhou should be possible.

Opinions?

Yes we all know we have race until the first turn, in which Verstappen overtakes Sainz and pull him and his car in another boring solo until the checked flag.

So like always we are gonna enjoy the fight for the podiums place only. Anyways nice to see the step forward made by Ferrari. But one question its real? or only for this time?

I was expecting some improvement from Ferrari in Italy as it is home country for them. But I didn't see this coming in qualifying. What an insane effort by Sainz for the pole! It is really not easy to beat Verstappen with this powerful Red Bull in qualifying as well. But finally we have seen someone doing this.

I hope to see one of Ferrari drivers on podium at least but I hope the team don't mess things up. Because they tend to make simple mistakes in every race.

The tire management of RBR is better, Verstappen will be an easy race unless some hazard happens.

I can't see how he can lose, remember also under DRS the RBR is the best car and on Monza DRS is huge.

Yep , correct + Ferrari not having a good race pace with current car so I think Verstappen will easily take the W tomorrow as well. However, we might have a great battle for second and 3rd place as Ferrari might snatch a 2-3 podium if somehow their strategists won't ruin the race  Grin Grin

In this qualifying I didn't see any other team except Russell exceptional personal performance that can fight with the Ferraris,I am really surprised at Hamilton low pace today and of course the Aston Martin and McLaren were nowhere near fighting for one of the top spots. It will be interesting to see tomorrow the fight with Perez against Ferraris,if he beats them then it means he is not sleeping anymore and want to go from being a mediocre driver to a driver that asks always for more,he should do so as he just secured his place for 2024 at Redbull and what better way to celebrate it.

I know the distance is very small in a single lap like you say at 0.013s but in the race distance I am pretty sure Redbull is a better car and of course a much much better team when it comes to pit stops while for Ferrari I have a lot of doubts that they will not screw up their drivers race tomorrow with wrong strategies.
Most likely you are right here and Verstappen will have many good opportunities to pass Sainz.
Even Perez can still get 2nd place.
On track, RedBull should be better in saving tires and like you've said, strategy in a close race matters.
Even if Verstappen can't pass Sainz on track but follows him closely, RedBull could try to do an undercut and get Verstappen ahead. Considering RedBull's very fast pit stops (and Ferrari's slow pit stops  Cheesy), Verstappen has a good chance to pass Sainz during pit stops, even if Verstappen can't overtake him on track.
Of course, start is also a key issue.

I was thinking that Ferrari would take pole position today. However I picked the wrong driver. I picked Leclerc as he was more successful in qualifying sessions in general. However Sainz really maintained his great performance in FP sessions in the qualifying as well. He took pole position by only a gap like 0.013s. Verstappen must be really frustrated.

Ferrari drivers both did a great job in the qualifying actually. But the most important thing is to maintain this look in the race as well. I'm afraid it is really difficult to trust Ferrari crew now but let's see.

I see no reason why Verstappen should be frustrated, just because he lost the pole position does not mean that he will lose the race too.He of course I believe to have the maturity to not screw up in the first corner and if he maintains his calm through the first corner here most probably will get an easy win.

It looks like there will always be rumours for Perez's seat. For example I have seen news such as Verstappen is leaning towards having Norris as his teammate. It doesn't make sense to me when I look at this situation from Red Bull's point of view. They want to have a dominant champion like Verstappen. They don't want a very competitive second driver who can make difficulties for Verstappen. Norris is exactly the definition of a competitive driver as you know.  Grin

Verstappen and Norris are really good friends now. But the team need to think of their main strategies first.

Meanwhile Perez is confirmed for 2024 and the top teams have all confirmed their driver line up which will be the same as this year for them, only average and slow teams have not yet come up with 100% of their line up for next season.

For today well done to Carlos Sainz and well done to all in the pool who have put him in the winner seat of the qualifying,Ferrari looked to have upped their game a bit yet I am not convinced they will continue with this performance during tomorrow race in which I predict an easy win for Redbull.

Fantastic lap from Sainz and generally an impressive performance from Ferrari. After a long time of bad results is position 1 for Sainz and position 3 for Leclerc very deserved in my opinion.
Ferrari was very fast on one lap and Verstappen couldn't beat it.

Have they boosted their engine at the maximum in their home race with the risk of breaking it or taking a penalty or the next GPS?
Probably not because Ferrari has performed very well on fast tracks with long straights like Azerbaijan, where Leclerc took pole.
So, I believe it's a genuine achievement from Ferrari but it will be difficult to maintain during race. Ferrari is usually fast on one lap but tire management will be worse compared to RedBull, where Ferrari is estimated to have a hard time to keep RedBull behind.
Of course, a podium position is possible for Ferrari here. Always considering Ferrari won't do a bad strategy call.  Cheesy

Actually, Ferrari is very fast in timers here.

probably.

That would not be smart at all but I agree since they have got nothing to lose anyway and in front of their home fans they want something to show them,a victory would be a huge achievement for them.I highly doubt it though as the Honda engine in a track like this full of straights, big straights will absolutely make a difference and I don't think the free practices show the true performances of the cars. For me only the official qualifying tomorrow will show it and in the race anyway we know that Redbull still have the best race pace especially in track like this one.

As far as I know Red Bull boss Christian Horner has already announced their next season drivers as Verstappen and Perez. But even if this is true we are talking about Formula 1 where everything can change anytime.  Smiley  As a result Perez needs to maintain a good work by being on podium as much as possible.

As long as he stays in second place of the driver standings there shouldn't be any issue. However if he loses his place at the end of the season Horner might change his mind about Perez.

In this case Ricciardo might be in the spotlight for Red Bull again.

They won't replace Perez anytime soon. Why ? well , the same story was with Bottas every year , and he still managed to stay for 6 years with Mercedes knowing well that he won't fight for championship as long as Lewis was there and now , same story is repeating itself on Redbull but this time with Perez. Maybe....if RedBull won't have a decent car next year , I'm sure they will replace Perez but as long as the car works and Max is winning races and championships , nothing will be changed. Cool

I think that should be exactly the opposite. As long as Max is winning races they can replace Perez with another driver,I am not saying a top driver as Redbull management would not want that but with a better performing driver than Perez. There are tons of them available now with most notorious at this point being ex Redbull driver Albon,he is doing wonders with Williams and he should be given another chance at Redbull, when he was there the first time he clearly lacked the experience and now I think he is much more mature able to maybe even put up a fight to Max.I am sure that Redbull knows well what to do with Perez,we are only assuming here.
