Fun fact we got I think 3 GPs with rain in a row so far.

Now we are going in Britain where the rain is almost daily and according to weather website it will not rain for the 3 days needed for the race.
The drivers who can navigate their cars on this track good enough in the rain will do well in the race.
We will see who can handle the wet conditions if there are any today for the first practice which begins in approximately and hour and a half from now.

Nice countdown clock at the top right hand corner on the F1 site for those who want to know when each practice run begins at their own local time:
https://www.formula1.com/en/results.html/2022/races/1114/great-britain/practice-1.html

edit: Watching the feed for the timings there it is showing a 0% of rain  Grin
So @coinlocket$ you are right and we just might finally have a dry British GP in a long while!

You're absolutely right! Rain can add an exciting and unpredictable element to a race, and Silverstone is known for its challenging track conditions, making it even more legendary. In wet races, the skills of the drivers truly shine as they navigate the slippery track and make split-second decisions!!!wet races at iconic tracks like Silverstone can create thrilling moments, and teams need to gather as much data as possible during practice sessions to optimize their setups for qualifying and the race. Flashscore is a handy app for quick updates, while the Formula 1 website provides more in-depth information for avid fans. Grin

And what if the McLaren engineers were slowly getting their upgrades in during the races prior in order to get the car really ready to fight for a top 6 spot for their home race?  Grin

Mercedes does not have the most powerful engine this year (power train) but still competitive, but I see RedBull, Ferrari (since the last update) and Mercedes also Alonso ahead of McLaren.

Even though Leclerc was really bad today I think he could play a role in the race.

The FIA has also published the new calendar for next season with a total of 24 races, so it's very tight from the beginning of March until almost mid-December.

Nevermind guys rain is expected for Tomorrow but Sunday it will be sunny according to Sky Sports Italy.

Should be an easy pole for Max Verstappen in this race.

True true..  I was just thinking Mercedes should prolly get somethin going with the car this week after the weak showing they had last week.  But yeah, we'll see.  Hope it's a good race between Verstappen and whoever is behind him.  A funny little stat for Silverstone is out of 6 races only a couple won from pole.  :/

And good one with McLaren and Norris comment.  I kinda forgot about them.  Lol.  But yeah, an English team with an English driver.  You guys think he could finish top 6?  Seems like a fair bet at 2.50.

Mclaren has been reborn with the recent upgrade.
Piastri will have to this weekend and they didn't install all upgrades the past week.

The top 6 will be hard but if everything works, why not.

Lando Norris is also on the home track and if they will add some other upgrades to that McLaren then they can fight against Ferrari as they have already beaten Mercedes and Aston Martin in the last weekend race in Austria with a great performance with some nice overtaking done.I think Silverstone is a better track,a bit more technical,in fact a lot more technical then Austria and most likely we will see more battles here than we saw in Austria.

I think it will be easily achievable for Lando to be in top 6 in the race taking into consideration that they will upgrade even more the car then I think Redbull and Ferrari will be ahead but no other team like Mercedes or Aston will be able to fight against such McLaren.

And what if the McLaren engineers were slowly getting their upgrades in during the races prior in order to get the car really ready to fight for a top 6 spot for their home race?  Grin

I think the Mercedes engineers could bring something good here too as it's both of their drivers' home race.  But we'll see.  Sometimes I just like to imagine different possible scenarios...  Prolly why I always lose money betting on these.  :/

The team that could decline is Aston Martin if both Ferrari and Merc could get their act together.

Rain in a track as legendary as Silverstone?Of course the drivers with the best skills should be high in the rankings here if we manage to have a wet race. For the practice they don't need to overdo it,they only need to collect as many data as possible by conducting as many laps as possible and this will be valuable insight to the teams before the official qualifying tomorrow,in which from this data they can obtain the perfect setup for such event.

There is even a better way to know the times of every session, free practice, qualifying and races by just using our phone app Flashscore (which I assume every gambler should have in their phones) and there it shows directly on local time for each of us,although I agree with you formula1 website is the best resource for these type of things.

This is a really important race for Mercedes especially. Because both of their drivers are British. The last race on Silverstone track didn't end well for Russell. He was out of the race at the beginning already. But there was a really serious incident at the same time. Zhou had a really serious accident and thankfully he was okay after it.

I hope we can see a clean race here this time. Hamilton was on podium in the last race on this track. I wonder if we can see the same effort from him. But I'm still favouring Ferrari rather than Mercedes to collect more points in this race. Sainz was even the winner of the last British GP.

If Ferrari don't make big mistakes with strategies they can carry both of their drivers to top places.

I see both of such drivers out of the podium places, the car is in a complete downtrend and I doubt within one week Mercedes to fix all their issues, other teams are working better,McLaren for example is the team with the biggest step forward in terms of upgrades and performances and I definitely see Lando or who knows even Piastri in some top 6 places.

I also think that Ferrari has a chance here only if Redbull screws up like last time where Verstappen had a problem and he could not recover after it which was why Sainz was the winner of this race last season.

Yeah the Austria GP didn't go well for Hamilton at all as he had a huge problem with penalties. It was due to the car's being really difficult to drive of course. But Mercedes are really interesting this season. Sometimes they look quite fast and sometimes they don't. Therefore it isn't easy to be confident of anything about the British GP for me.

But if we consider the last race the most then yeah they don't look promising for this one either. As for Lando and Piastri I think Lando would again stay way ahead of Piastri in this race. The last race was horrible for Piastri. His performance isn't so different than Ricciardo so far.

What do you guys think of either Russel or Hamilton finishing in the podium.  It's their home race so they're prolly gonna be extra motivated for this one.  Odds for them are 4.25 and 2.00 respectively.  Both lines are kinda juiced but what can you do...

Very difficult to assess, motivation alone is not enough, at the last race in Austria I expected Mercedes to be stronger and in contrast Ferrari was stronger. In terms of track layout, i think Silverstone is similar to the Red Bull Ring.

Last year it was a three-way battle between RedBull, Ferrari and Mercedes, I will wait for the practice sessions, fortunately this weekend is not a sprint race.

not sure if they are able to pull top6, but they are improving, it can be seen on each race
but I expect a lot from Hamilton during the weekend, it is home ground, and he should not fight for places outside of podium, since winner is already known, expecting at least fight for position 2, Perez showed skills in Austria, and have better car, but home ground is home ground

not sure what Ferrari can do, two good race in a row, third would be too much

Another nice line I like is car to set the fastest lap at 6.00 for Mercedes.

Anyway, here's the time table for the race.

2023 F1 British GP Schedule
09 JUL  Race  15:00
08 JUL  Qualifying  15:00 - 16:00
08 JUL  Practice 3  11:30 - 12:30
07 JUL  Practice 2  16:00 - 17:00
07 JUL  Practice 1  12:30 - 13:30

You can be extra motivated all you want but if the car does not respond to your driving skills then that extra motivation will be useless and I doubt they will be getting a podium if they perform the same as they did in Austria,in fact it looks like Mercedes has started a downward trajectory when I compare their performance in the previous races with the last couple of them.

What I want to see is McLaren with Lando in the podium as it is also Lando Norris home race and he said he was very happy with the car upgrades,he expect a couple more improvements and he would love to be on the podium in his home race at Silverstone which he described as the best weekend of all the season for him,so the extra motivation here could serve him well, better than the Mercedes drivers.

Ferrari gave some hope to the fans in Canada by making the right strategies and having a solid race. But this didn't last long for them I'm afraid. There was another tactical mistake here indeed and Sainz's race got even more difficult. He showed his reaction to this bad call and a long pit stop time on the radio as well.

Now we have entered another race week. The next race is the British Grand Prix. Silverstone can be the track to determine Perez's fate at Red Bull as well. Because recently it is speculated that Perez might be replaced by Ricciardo after this race.

Actually, Ferrari after Barcelona did a huge upgrade on the car, now they are at the same level or above Aston Martin.

RBR is on another planet and I don't think Ferrari wants to push more for this car, is a wiser choice to spend the remaining money of the salary cap in the 2024 car at this point.

Hoo yeah, finally put in my predictions early, caught your post jeremypwr Wink

Superbru has updated the results, I had no idea there were penalties and positions were gained and lost, and, hooray for me, I moved up to 6th spot just like Lando Norris benefiting from penalties. From 2 points off the leader, I got to only 1 point distance, so I guess I'm doing better than the average required. Seems like CLS63 retained yellow cap after all!

Yeah there were so many time penalties given even a long time after the end of the race.  Grin  I'm relieved that I still haven't lost the yellow cap despite the latest changes. Good job for you as well as there is only one point between us for this race week.  Smiley

This race was really challenging for the drivers due to having serious issues with staying in track limits. But I still enjoyed watching it. Despite not having a wet track we still watched a great competition among the drivers except Verstappen's dominance for the win.

I just checked the new results and I moved up 2 places which honestly I did not expect at all yet I am eleventh and with little distance to that 6th place where you are at at just 3 points distance  Grin.I would love to start doing what I did last season as exactly in these races I started being 2nd or 3rd every race,of course it will be much difficult now as we are 28 people compared to 12 of last season but I am liking what I am seeing. We are still for a fight in the prize spots many many of us so this pool is becoming more and more interesting with each passing race.
