@LFC I can't remember the last time we played with such verve... I still remember the sides with El Nino and Suarez and we were delightful up front but haven't been as steely at back since we lost our great Finn and Carra.

This time everyone is playing with something a bit different in their eye I can't explain... And yes Arsenal (but I think spurs too) don't have that yet.

Maybe I'm romantic and always think it's because we get players who only want to be with us, am sure all teams think the same too but I think Klopp especially doesn't want a player whose heart isn't in it, hence offloads and fringe times to some, but result after 3 years is a team that loves playing for him, for each other, for the 12th man.

I predicted 2-0 instead of my usual. For once we are on same page haha! Boring day with only 2 goals so far and half time almost here.

Liverpool sure did a great job during past few games. They won games their easily and were lucky enough that City hit a rough patch. If you ask me that rough patch for City was long overdue. They were practically unbeatable in the league for past 2 years.

Really happy that all those Liverpool fans are finally getting some joy. They are for sure one of better supporter groups in the world and deserve to see their club lift a big trophy.

I generally also believe in the "overdue" thing, even though that's pure superstition. Which is why I wanted to kick Lovren for his post Man Utd "speech" heh. But OK he goes to score the way he did so maybe he's entitled to his big mouth haha. All the same, I don't think City's overdue blip has anything to do with it. We expected it from them last season and it never came, this was just other teams realising that City's defence isn't the best in the league, and hasn't been for a while. Said it ever since Liverpool made them pay last season - you attack them and their back line gets jittery.

But yeah, this is some joy. I never forget the other seasons where we enjoyed Christmas at the summit, and I have so many memories, and I'll say again, whatever this season brings, this already is a great one to remember.

@LFC, and way to reclaim #1 spot and in some style, with a huge lead too! Wink

Thanks man, I just try my best every weekend. I came 3rd in last seasons PL pool. I came 2nd in our World Cup pool in the summer. Hoping to complete the set & get 1st this time Cheesy
It’s a really tough competition with you guys though so I’ll be happy to get in the top 3 I guess.

I think we will beat Arsenal tomorrow you know. When we have a trophy to fight for & a good chance to win it there is no atmosphere like Anfield.

Arsenal are a good team but I think they have a soft under belly. When the going gets tough....they don’t get going.
Sure they can destroy teams when things are going well but look at their last game vs Brighton. It was cold, wet & Brighton were fighting, Arsenal didn’t cope.

One thing this Liverpool team has is fight & a never quit attitude.

Liverpool 2-0 Arsenal

My prediction.

Hopefully City slip up at Southampton, I think Spurs will beat Wolves comfortably. I expect Spurs to slip away as the season goes on though.

Edit - My 1st yellow cap of the season I think, shared with Leea-1334 with both of us getting 13.5 points.

Lololol.  LFC fans have been following the City fixture at Anfield too...?  That's hilarious.

I wonder what's going on with Pep and City tho.  Prolly the winter?  Grin

What a night! Why didn't I back Leicester oh god bloody bloody Vardy. Didn't watch the game at all but Anfield was roaring when Pereira scored, and then I'm seeing Delph got a red card and even Aguero caught himself a yellow.

4-0 Pool and 2 losses in a row for City means even the goal difference is now cut down to just the 1, which hopefully swings our way when we meet in 8 days' time. No cards, clean sheet, Salah back in top form, Alisson crazy save in injury time... what a time to be Liverpool!

And guess who's in 2nd place? Spurs with an even better 5-0 against Bournemouth.

Next up is Arsenal. Come on, you Reds!

^  I'll check it out later thanks.  I have a long shot bet in mind that could pay a lot.  It reminds me of Chelsea winning the CL against all odds back in 2012, or was it 2011...?  Anyway, yeah.  Should be another good one.  Can't wait for the KO stages!  Smiley

Don't forget we've got a bumper Boxing Day today, and just the 1 game tomorrow, so put in your picks, gentlemen! @Welsh I see you've still missed rounds but there's still the weekly bonus to play for so don't miss out on the fun man!

@tokeweed. Fairlay has CL futures, and more competitive than Nitrogensports too so go for it. I have a Liverpool at very close to 10/1 waiting to settle in May Wink Should have taken it before the Napoli game but I didn't have an account then. Think it was even 13/1 at that stage!

I thought I had done poorly with only 9 points this week, but turns out I was joint second highest scorer behind tokeweed on 11. Lots of low scores because lots of crazy results, and very few 3 points for exact scoreline being handed out.

As our leader slaman29 only scored 4 points, LFC_Bitcoin has closed the gap and is now joint first with 199 points, and the next 5 or 6 places all also closed the gap by a point or two.

Remember the next set of matches are on Boxing Day, so probably wise for you all to get your predictions in before you get too drunk over the next day or two!

^  Yup.  Lol_Citeh.  Lots of people (mostly LFC supporters?) are gonna have a field day with that one.

Anyway, does anybody know where I can bet on CL futures that isn't a fiat bookie?  Nitrogen seems to have taken it down.

I’ve only just seen Townsend’s goal - WTF haha, what a strike.

@buwaytress - Unbelievable, can’t believe City lost. Advantage LFC Wink

@o_e_l_e_o - I was constantly refreshing my phone worrying when it went 2-3 Cheesy

That strike from Townsend was absolutely magnificent. He probably won't strike another ball as sweet as he did. What's more impressive it was pissing down with rain and he managed to keep his foot planted while doing a sort of half volley. Liverpool go 4 points clear before Christmas.

I give up guys.  I'm switching to Lawro mode.  Lol.  I'll just be copying his weekly predictions from here on out.  Good luck to everybody in the top 10.  Smiley

I've been dropping further down the table week by week and doubt I'll be getting many points from this round. Seem to have got 2 out of 2 correct scores so far on Cloudbet's Euro-wide predictor so far so hoping I'll win that one as it's the last round this week and I'm already up in second place.

Palace are currently 2-1 up against City following 2 goals in 3 minutes and absolute BANGER of a goal from Townsend: https://streamja.com/LoPv. Did you see that? He must have a foot like a traction engine.

If it stays like this, Liverpool will go 4 points clear at the top of the table. LFC_Bitcoin currently praying to every god in existence. Grin No on in our league predicted a Palace win.

Fucks sake  Cheesy. City along with Chelsea were my bankers on the Sky Bet price boost this week and Chelski are 0-0 at half time. City will probably bounce back though, but at least if they don't there's a plus in that it gives Liverpool a further lead. Liverpool really can't afford to drop any points as it'll be rare that City do and I still think they're a stronger team so this would give them a huge boost. City and Liverpool are playing each other in January as well. Will be a right game and could end up being the title decider further down the line. If Liverpool can grab the win at the Etihad then that would be huge for the title race.

Looks like a murderous week so far with only 9 points on this weeks leader. And it all started pretty predictably too. Liverpool 2-0 then Arsenal 3-1. OK maybe Chelsea losing to Leicester at Stamford Bridge was enough but City losing to big old scary Crystal Palace at Etihad? I said it so many times last night and today, and asked if it was too much to ask for a favour but wow we got it. Like you say, if Pool can win Newcastle (and I expect City to also win next), then if we win at City on 3rd Jan, it will be a huge psychological blow. I wondered if City would do as well chasing instead of being chased, on this early evidence, to my benefit, it looks like not!

Lost out my parlay too with Chelsea, but then I needed Newcastle to win too, so wasn't like it was a hair's breadth.

This was a rare result, and the stats show that City were seriously unlucky not to get the draw... 13 corners to none? and to concede the penalty, but well I'm taking this to bed happily. Feel stupid I didn't take the underdog bet on this one but then who could have predicted this other than a Palace fan?

@LFC Merry bloody Christmas to us!

Agree with Trofo, if Liverpool keep playing this way, then I have to say they deserve the luck as Mourinho said, to go on and win it. City are of course good too, but we are all sick of them. What I don't like is teams still play Liverpool like they can be beaten, whereas they play City like a draw is great.

Wolves are deserving of every praise also. I watched the game and I was really quite shocked at how Liverpool managed to still come out with 2 good goals and kept the clean sheet. I think even City did not look so comfortable against the same Wolves side. They are really strong and they deserve to get Europa League place at least. If every team played like them against City though, they won't have won the league so easily last season.

I know what you’re saying slaman. A lot of teams are beaten (in the head - psychologically) before they even step onto the pitch. It really pisses me off to be honest.
Teams still have a go at Liverpool but we have dealt with almost everything that’s been thrown at us this season.

I got the nice perfect score at 2-0, did not watch the match but from the reports, Mo Salah is now top scorer and even got healthy assists. I am a Spurs supporter but I do not see them winning the league this year. I hope at least they can win the League Cup since they are in semifinals, at least it must not be an empty season. Champions League is of course still a target but we do not have enough quality. Just worried our manager will be tempted to join United.

Anyway, I am off today for a long holiday, so I put in all my picks till January, see you guys next year! Maybe I come back and see a nice bonus of getting top score;)
