Yeah, the penalty is a typical one to concede. Lovren played incredible. However, I always feel he has a mistake in him even when he's playing like a boss.

I have been keeping an eye on Lovren career from his beginnings (we are both from Croatia). He gets quite a lot of space in our sports newspapers, so I read short reports of his games even when I am not watching the particular game.

By far the best quote which perfectly captures his performances is: "Lovren is often the best man on pitch, until he isn't". I believe it was said by some Liverpool legend, probably Jamie Carragher.

Probably accurate. He can dominate games when hes on his game, but then he has the habit of making a pretty bad mistake, and then running himself into the ground. I'm not 100% familiar with Lovrens story, but I do remember him having quite a heartbreaking one, and he also had his house broken into in Liverpool.

I have close up & personal experiences of Lovren fucking up & costing us games, at times almost single handedly. He’s been good since Spurs away last season though on 22/10/17 where he got subbed off before half time after some embarrassing mistakes. But as I said he’s been really good for a while now so no complaints from me.

I read about his wife doing shit to him, disgusting really & I don’t want to talk about that Sad

Liverpool with their blitz tactics within the first few moments of the game could of really punished City. City seemed to be in dire straights, and couldn't even get out of their half without giving up possession. However, there wasn't any shots on target at this point so City could probably be happy with their defense which has proven to be shaky in the past against Liverpool. Mahrez penalty was a shocker. Having said that Alison seemed to dive the right way at least.

Exactly. Liverpool almost did the job in the first 15 minutes, but for a lack of penetration to keeper. And Alison had his glove in the right place too... though the venom on the shot, had it been on target, would probably have still guided the ball in. We were lucky, and this kind of luck will get us through.

Can't help feeling a bit bummed. Draw was a wonderful result, for sure, but this was Anfield. We'll need to smack them full force away.

I think VD was good, everybody makes those mistakes, he was literally an inch away from a brilliant tackle.

And is Lovren a changed man or what? Pity he wasn't half as incredible when we lost to Chelsea.
That's why I'm really not to concerned about Liverpool in the title race so far. They are joint top when their front 3 haven't even been firing, and on form. As soon as they start linking up like last season, but actually putting away their chances we could see Liverpool not only win most of their games, but rack up that goal difference too.

I mean seriously...  I didn't bother to check but is this round of international matches anything of importance?  Qualifiers for the next WC maybe or for the UEFA Euro 2020...?

No?  Just some friendlies to risk some players getting injured?  Seriously...

Yep & we’re only 8 PL game down & it’s the second one of the season, it’s ridiculous. I hate international football, for once though it might have come at a good time for LFC for once. We’ve played Chelsra twice, Napoli & City in a gery short space of time, we look tired.
At least with the internationals they’ll all only be playing one game a week.

For once, I'm glad for the break. We've not been able to find any momentum since the League Cup loss... I think the first few games back from internationals should give back some confidence to our front 3, before we take on Arsenal and PSG in November! They look happy in training, so it's obviously plain old exhaustion.

WTF WAS THE PENALTY GIVEN TO MAHREZ?  Jesus H Christ!!!

It was a penalty, poor tackle by VVD which is rare because he’s usually so calm. Very lucky to get away with a draw considering we were facing a penalty on 85 mins. I think a draw is probably a fair result though in the end, both teams showed each other a lot of respect.

I would definitely have taken a draw before the match.

It was obviously a penalty, but I think he's asking why they let Mahrez take it. Regardless, it was a very silly penalty to give away as he was going nowhere and unlikely to get one on target from that angle. Should have just ran the ball out or blocked the shot if he even managed to get one away which I doubt. City deserved to win, but I though Liverpool deserved a point also, and glad I got at least another point from the draw. Boring international break now.

Yup!  Why Mahrez?  Jesus...  David Silva should have taken that penalty.  Sane could get that pen in, Jesus or even Kyle Walker ffs.

The second they said Mahrez was taking it, I already kinda knew it won't get in.  They shouldn't take these kinds of 'risks', in these crucial matches (not taking anything away from Mahrez, but he does suck at taking pens).

Absolutely, and not the kind of mistake you would expect from VVD, who otherwise had a fantastic game.

I saw a very good point made elsewhere that Jesus practices penalties against Alisson for Brazil, so maybe Pep had already put Mahrez on penalties before the match.

He pushed Jesus out the way to take the penalty. He has a 33% conversion rate on penalties. Their most important penalty to date. Strange behaviour all round.

I wonder if Pep will punish him for that. It's not like City don't have plenty of midfield options.

Nice. Last week I put in a few 2-0 predictions and they all hit. This week 2 1-0 already hit, but I got nervous and changed Chelsea and Liverpool results now, after Arsenal scored 5. No one got a close result for Arsenal even, shows how well they beat Fulham, but feel sorry for LFC and Crwth, predicting 3-0 and still getting the same points as us who predicted 2-1.

Strange week for a lot of us, I'm lucky to get 10 points so far, it wasn't like the matches were upsets so far or anything, but maybe we went for draws? Congrats to Big G for climbing 9 ranks, and you guys are so hard to catch, especially LFC, slowly climbing up 1 or 2 spots every week.

^  Wut?  McGregor's camp vs Khabib's camp just had a tussle and both are rumored to have connections to some shady organizations.  Dun dun dun...  Grin

And yeah, could be a draw between City and LFC.  I feel City will be stale again.  There's something with Klopp that Pep just can't seem to figure out.

Damn it! I had Arsensal to win 3-1 and I was hoping to get the 3 points, but Emery had to bring Auba onto the pitch to make it 5-1  Tongue Didn't even get the 1.5 pts but only 1pt...Btw, why are the Fulham defenders so shit? That last goal was something you would see in 2nd or 3rd division football, where the ST takes the ball inside the 18-yard box and smoothly turns to score a goal...no defending whatsoever, though props to Auba for making that sweet turn LOL

Anyways, Ramsey's goal was a beauty, a counter attack with a bit of one-touch football to end it with a nice backheel goal.

@LFC_Bitcoin last time I saw you in the leaderboard, you were outside the top 10, now all of a sudden you're 2nd! Good job!

There’s this weird thing that every time Ramsey scores the next day somebody famous dies, seriously google it.
I had Arsenal to win 3-0 so I got the 1 point but nowhere near the correct score.
I’ve got Chelsea to win 3-1 so we’ll see what happens there.

Got a bad feeling we (Liverpool) will lose today but in our pool I went for a draw.

The table for our poop is really tight, a couple of good weeks can take you from nowhere into the top 5, it’s really close. Seems a lot of us know what we’re doing Smiley

^  Arsenal on a 9 game winning streak (League Cup and Europa League included).  Poch and co. at Tottenham should be worried right about now...  I think they're the weakest (ok, arguably the weakest, sheesh) among the top 5 at the table.

I thought to have done disastrously wrong in today games, but I see I have done 5.5 points so far and only two persons did better than me while many others did the same score. I am 11th and I have an 8.5 points difference with 1st place. It is really tight with this CLOSE 1.5 score of SUPERBRU.

Easily my worst week. Only two points so far. If Manchester hadn't of got that late winner that would have been even one less point. Kinda wanted United to lose though haha. Two nil down after ten minutes. I doubt Jose would have been the manager this morning if they'd have lost that game (or maybe even drawn). Looking forward to the Liverpool/Chelsea game but the result is too difficult to call.
