ever since Ashley Barty retired from tennis, she's been winning everything there is to win. It's a shame that Barty stopped playing tennis at that age. It would be good for tennis if someone comes to play her game, because then we get a little more tension. This is somewhat reminiscent of Djokovic's golden years, when he also won about 40 matches in a row. This lady seems to be working on something similar.

Anyone watched the WTA final on Rolan Garros?

Swiatek won 6-1 6-3 against Gauff and it was just too easy. Swiatek continues to dominate and this is her 35th win in a row and 6th straight title in a row. She is so close to break a couple of records and if she continues to play like this i dont see anyone getting close to beating her

she is managing to conduct a very good series of sensational results. perhaps (maybe?) this is due to the lack of noteworthy opponents ... Roll Eyes

now there is criticism that women's tennis is less interesting than men's tennis
https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/tennis/amelie-mauresmo-mens-womens-tennis-27126187
this year in RG it has been clearly at a second level respect the man tournament....

I didnt watch it TBH, Her win was a foregone conclusion really. There isnt anyone who
can challenge her and she has the chance of winning every tournament this year,
if she stays injury free.

From the result today it looks like Gauff didnt create much of a challenge.

I dont think the womens tennis is less interesting, the matches which Swiatek is
not playing are interesting. There are plenty of good players there who are able
to beat each other which makes for interesting matches.
Couple of stats regarding Swiatek, first of all she is just 21 years old and already plays on such high level and with such mental composure.

This was Swiatek's 9th win in a WTA final, what is even more baffling is the fact that she did not lose more then 5 games in any of them. Must be enough to put some fear in her opponents.

This was her 35th win in a row, which is enough to catch V. Williams record. I am guessing she will be on top alone very soon.

I dont see honestly anyone stopping her at all. She plays so easily and serious and she dominates the field against any opponent.
I see her honestly for a long time on the top and now it will be a difference against 2nd ranked player by 4000-5000 points

Anybody watching Nadal-Zverev? Really strange second set with bunch of breaks, WTA stuff. Not a good day for Zverev, spilling 6:2 in set one tie break, not managing to serve out for second set and just now bad ankle twist. I think this match is over and most bets are off. If he comes back after this I'll be really surprised.

Hopefully this will not be a long break for him, but it did not look good.

It didn't look good and it is apparently a very serious injury so probably Zverev will be out for a couple of months which is unfortunate. It would be a very big surprise if Nadal doesn't win his 14th grandslam. Checked the odds and there is not really a lot of value. The only semi interesting bet I could find was Nadal -6.5 games @1.93.

Tottal domination it was a really incredible performance i wonder what caused this change i think bartey retiring made way for less competition for her with the other players out of shape she managed to win all these titles i think she will  break the records soon.

I don't see a way for Ruud to make big problems for Nadal. Everything Ruud does in his game Nadal does better. Čilić would have had minimal chances to shoot trough Nadal on a perfect day. Ruud has none IMHO.

Yep, agreed. A straight sets win for Nadal seems the obvious outcome.

It does seem a bit of anticlimax for the final, but it's just because of the luck of the draw. Nadal, Djokovic and Alcaraz were all in the same half, Alcaraz obviously got knocked out early so Nadal vs Djokovic was the big match of the tournament. Then Nadal vs Zverev yesterday was closer than a lot of us would have thought and quite an enthralling match until the unfortunate ending.

But the bottom half of the draw was wide open - because Medvedev had to be seeded 2 because of his ranking, but is obviously weak on clay, and then the other big name Tsitsipas, who really had a golden opportunity to get to the final, also got knocked out early.

It always looked like the winner would come from the Nadal/Djokovic half, with the only real problem being tiredness from a string of tough long matches. Nadal however only had to play 2 sets yesterday (albeit over three hours).

Cilic is up after first set with Ruud

was not aware of that, but Cilic is first active player out of top4 (top3 with Murray) that reached semi-finals on all GS
it was a domination decade, or fifteen years, and it is a question does it near to an end

Ruud has break in second set, but Cilic is closer to final, IMO

Cilic had a great opportunity to play in the finals of the RG, but he once again succumbed to the pressure, as many times before.
After a long time, Cilic played very well in one GS tournament and was realistically the favorite in this semifinal match.
Unfortunately, Čilić played here for himself and for Ruud, he made a lot of mistakes and practically gave the victory to the opponent.
Realistically, Nadal is the absolute favorite in the final and anything but his victory would be a very big surprise.

But Nadal against Ruud is not that bad, just have to look at what betting options we got.

The womens finals is about to start, same as with Nadal's case, Swiatek is the favorite to win and it will take a lot from Gauff to win even a set against Iga here. We haven't seen this kind of performance from a lady since the Williams sister, specially Serena incredible run during her prime.

Man. Can't believe the luck I'm having. I actually got refunded on the correct score (3-1) when Zverev retired, but have to say Nadal got away with that. Might have won it eventually but when you're already this far in nursing an injury, you get that kind of walkover and you save your reserves, it's a big deal.

In agreement with everyone else. Had Cilic gone through, and Nadal went the full stretch in the semis, I'd be backing the underdog. But a fresh king of clay and a lucky Ruud? This one's Nadal's to win.

Still, worth a small Ruud win as a hedge (sportsbet superboost takes you almost 5/1!), but I'm going 3:1 Nadal.

I can't imagine Ruud is going to win this. Nadal is just too good and also a lot to experience. He cannot be beaten here in Paris, and certainly not by Ruud. Although Ruud is of course not a bad player at all. Still the top 10 in the world. But Nadal also knocked out Djokovic in a big way. It would be a huge sensation if Ruud wins this tournament, but I think the chances are very small. Too bad for Zverev, of course.
Looking at the current odds, Ruud is 4:1 underdog against Nadal. So that is a big line coming from Nadal to win. So I would agree that Casper is going to really play hard and flawless if he wanted to upset the best clay court player we have seen. But Maybe Ruud can win at least a set here, I reckon. Zverev though is just unlucky, he leads both set at 4-2 but can't convert it specially the 1st set.

True, although I skipped both of the semi-finals match.

And I would agree that Nadal is unstoppable in clay, we already know this and the one player that might have a chance is his compatriot Alcaraz.

Probably going to be a close 3 set wins for Nadal with  tie-breaks. So the Over might be a bit tricky to bet as the scores will really be perfect.

i agree, even the odds show that Ruud is not a good competitor for Nadal in Roland Garros with Ruud to win @5.85 and Nadal @1.18, i think Nadal can win the title with three straight sets, and the odds are pretty good for it @2.1, i might consider it.

Really a sad outcome of the match. Really bad injury for Zverev and now he will be off the field for a really long time and he was really close to that no1 position. Nadal is just lucky and has a good chance to win the rolan garros again

Very unfortunate ending for Zverev, we don't want players to end their game with injury specially in a grand slam semifinals match.

So now it will be Nadal vs Ruud, first man from Norway. But I think with the way Nadal is playing, he might win another RG and put cemented his name as the best clay court player.

Wish Zverev's injury is not that bad, just a ankle twist.

Yes, a terribly unfortunate end for Zverev, and he will likely be out for quite some time. I hope he recovers quickly.

There's been a fair amount of anti-Nadal sentiment in this thread recently, and I have to say I don't really understand it. Nadal is certainly not "just lucky". Remember he was actually a set up and winning the match when Zverev suffered his horrible injury. Remember also that Nadal has won this tournament an absurd 13 times. Remember also that his career record at Roland Garros reads as follows: Won 111, Lost 3. There is quite simply nothing comparable to this in modern tennis. He is a phenomenon. Yes Zverev's injury was unfortunate for Zverev, but there is not really any argument against the fact that Zverev was losing the match at the time of his injury.
