Isn't it she was given a wildcard in Qatar Open? She didn't take advantage of it. lol.
I think age is catching up with her. Now in her 30's, she is slowly losing to the young generation and I think that the somewhat the drug related ban is still on her head that's why she can't perform as she uses to be.
She won the first set though, but after that, everything went against her. I say given a few more tournaments, if she didn't perform well then I guess Maria S can call it a day. Maybe she can concentrate on her modelling career.
I think she has been given too much attention this year after she was allowed to play again. She even went to play in a center court as far as I can remember. So I think the organizers are putting here in the spotlight so that the women's tennis could regain its glory.
Sadly though, she is already past his prime and she retire. Same with the men's, young lions are trying to upstage. And there will come a time that we will totally forgotten how she took the tennis world by storm.
