What just happened and why Ireland couldn't even bat 20 overs? Woakes and Broad took all the 10 wickets with 6 and 4 so I thought they would get MoM but it went to Leach for 92 runs. Looks like they'll always prefer batsmen over bowlers.

Like usual the excuses of Ireland that England exploited the conditions but their performance was worse than miserable after playing well on the first day.
In each match I think there should be some expert bowlers and batmen’s too when a team contain both so they use to win.  I have notice lack of batting skills in Ireland because they have worked good while bowling but they were weak in batting we should try to improve all skills of our team

I think that very interesting results can be obtained if we analyze all the meetings of England and Pakistan.  I think it will be very interesting for gamblers to have suitable results in order to make profitable bets.  Although London is beginning to alarm me with its unpredictable results.

"The very ruins of greatness are great."
That's what England proved. Even though England was in huge pressure, they came back and proved their strength. I was not expecting such a match at all. Their changed stratgey in 2nd innings was noticeable.

Wow IRE land all outed only in 38 runs!! What a miracle has happened in this Test match between Englan and Ireland! Firstly England all out in 85 runs then Ire land in 38. That's really a big Revenge by England,

It was more important for England to win this test match and save their face. Ireland could not manage the pressure of chasing around 200 runs to win and hence they were bold out too cheap.

Pathetic performance by Ireland. It was the worst performance by any team in a test match. The ICC should seriously consider revoking their test status and reconsider the decision only when they are 100% sure of their competitiveness. Their appalling performance brought disgrace to all the emerging teams and now test nations would be reluctant to stage any matches against these lesser teams.

Safe to say Match gone Cheesy

No maiden test victory for them. 6 wicket down,  now they just need to make 2 more runs to avoid lowest total in test cricket history Cheesy

Previous existing record is 26 runs and its belongs to New Zealand Cheesy
England's two bowlers end all hopes and dreams of Ireland first win all team wrapped up 38 runs on board and they lost this match by 143 runs now Sun is also shining in London so they can enjoy this win but still need to think about Ashes as they have no good enough batting line up.

Lol fifth gone for 24, this is stupid. Does rain have affected the the pitch badly, they was playing better in the first innings. The hope for the maiden win is nit anymore alive for them. RIP.

First wicket down for Ireland.

4 down now lol

Picture doesn't look good for Irish team. Let's see what Kevin O'Brian does from here. He's the key wicket to take for England's perspective.

Edit : 5th wicket gone and 24 run Cheesy

First wicket down for Ireland. William Porterfield out for 2, with Woakes picking the wicket. Looks like they won't even make 100 in their second innings. And this is what I got from espncricinfo:

Michael Holding just said that 182+ has only been chased 5 times in Lord's rich history.

The odds are heavily against Ireland. But they need to bat it out like their life depends on it. This is the closest they could get to a test victory, for the next 10 years.

LOL! Was so happy to see first come first out scenario here. 182 runs is a good score to chase but definitely this rain is irritating as always. Looks like England was praying for it.
A good 50 partnership will help then team to get a good start here. Still hoping the rain will stop before 1 but don't feel the test would end today.
This could either end in a draw or England winning thanks to the rain since the pitch will probably be more favorable for bowlers providing England a better chance. Ireland needs to step up their game if they wish to win this one.

Rain has played spoil sport once again and this could end up ruining a monumental win for Ireland. Sad indeed.

Talking about Irish batsmen: James McCollum has barely played matches for Ireland and has debuted in 2017 while William Porterfield has much more experience but his SR is worse than James. Ireland need better opening batsmen but I've read that Ireland is not so interested in cricket and that may be the reason that they are way behind other country teams.

First ball of the day and England all out for 303. The lead is 181 runs. So Ireland will need 182 to win their first test. I am still leaning towards England however if Irish can make some good partnerships at the beginning then it's going to be very hard for England.

I can understand that the mods have a shit ton of work on their hands and they can't always check everything thoroughly, but they need to try and change this system by deleting the spam post itself instead of deleting everything linked to it.
I hope they improve in their job. Deleting good posts which all of us are seeing but only them (the mod who is deleting) and the reporter agrees that those are not relevant or spam or whatever - is worrying.

I already stopped quoting and replying anyone who is not regular in cricket thread and who post once in a while for signature spam and don't follow the existing conversation.

And i noticed you quoted other guy as well with your deleted post. his post is deleted and automatically your post get deleted with him.

Pffrt's thread : My on topic posts are getting deleted
It all makes sense now. This is a pretty messed up situation. I have quoted different kinds of posts on this forum from several years and this is the first time that I have had several quoted posts deleted in a few weeks and I quote sensible replies only. Thanks for the tip though.

According to this BS theory, 2nd post get deleted so post three, four, five, six also gets deleted. Then let's stop making any conversations. Sick theory indeed.
I assume whoever is the mod here has very less knowledge of what he is doing. He is just relying on the reporter whoever it is. If you are too much dependent on that repoter then retire from your job and give it to that reporter. He deservs the money you are taking from the forum fund.

My prediction is like this:

If the lead is <150, then Ireland has a great chance of winning this test.
If the lead is in the range of 151190-200, then both the teams have equal chances.
If the lead is >200, then England has a great chance of winning this test.

Now the lead has increased to 181, and let's see whether they will be able to cross 200 or not.

TBH Yesterday pitch behaved very differently in every session.

First when Jack Leech and Jason Roy were batting, pitch was looking easy to bat after that bowlers took the advantage of pitch. Result; Collapse in English middle order but in the end English's tailenders added some useful runs easily.

So I prefer second scenario, if it happens then its going to be good contest between ball and bat again.

It has been raining today and it just stopped raining now. It doesn't give me a good feeling as yesterday's game was called off when England's innings were just about to end and now since it's a new day and Broad is in full form, he may try adding up more 30-40 runs which is dangerous for Ireland. Ireland are capable of chasing 200 runs and hence if they lose, the margin will be so less. Adair is still bowling so hoping that he takes the fourth wicket.

BTW, someone had claimed that 9 out of the 11 members of the Irish squad were born in England. This is not true. Check this:

WTS Porterfield: born in Londonderry, Northern Ireland
JA McCollum: born in Waringstown, Northern Ireland
A Balbirnie: born in Dublin, Republic of Ireland
PR Stirling: born in Belfast, Northern Ireland
KJ O'Brien: born in Dublin, Republic of Ireland
GC Wilson: born in Dundonald, Northern Ireland
SR Thompson: born in Londonderry, Northern Ireland
MR Adair: born in Holywood, Northern Ireland
AR McBrine: born in Londonderry, Northern Ireland
TJ Murtagh: born in Lambeth, England
WB Rankin: born in Londonderry, Northern Ireland

The only player who was born outside Ireland is Tim Murtagh and he is playing for Ireland because his grandparents were from Ireland and he is an Irish citizen since 2012. On the other hand, the England captain (Eoin Morgan) was born in the Republic of Ireland and holds the Irish passport. To this date, he don't have a British passport.

The Irish cricket team is the United Ireland team (Republic of Ireland + Northern Ireland). In football and all the other sports, they play separately.

People started reporting from this thread too and mods are deleting them? This is very poor justification. I will again say the mods are not setting any standard here. Shame.

back to the test match, we are going to see a result today. the match is on for both team but I will keep England ahead. It's third day and pitch will have cracks so batting is not going to be easy for Irish.

By the way, Malinga's last match : https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.51955687
