Compared to many other teams, Sevilla was lucky to have a group like this because this group is not really hard for them, The only strong team is Manchester United so they should be worried about the games against this team Also Lens and PSV are not really strong however even Manchester United is not in their good situation after this summer and even after hiring players like Mason Mount they didn't improve at all.

Sevilla isn't even close to their best shape and now it remains to be seen whether they can show their A-game in the Champions or League or not. They have certainly been lucky in the draw for the group stage because Lens and PSV are exactly the teams Sevilla would be destined to eliminate during the group stage and, hence, secure their ticket into the knockout stage.
Looking at their performance in domestic competitions, they even performed as bad as before. But on the other hand, in this case, I now don't want to doubt them first, especially when looking at their performance last season which was sometimes surprising and the group conditions were not too difficult because apart from Arsenal, who are the favorites, PSV and Lens have almost the same quality of players as Sevilla. .
I think for now their strategy remains the same by focusing first on the Champions League while making some different performance changes in La Liga so they get back on a better track.

Sevilla had a similar situation last season when they crashed the table almost all the way down and were then fighting for every single point to not really be threatened by the relegation zone in the end, but they have at least been ranked 13th when there was halftime in La Liga.

But the funny truth is that they also started with just 1 point out of the first 4 games in La Liga 2022/23. After 10 games they had 10 points, which is essentially nothing when you think abut the fact that at the end of the season they won an international title in the Europa League. I have no idea what kind of issue that could be, but something is going wrong.

It is hard to conceive though that they just switch between the different competitions and suddenly play Champions League level. It was hard to believe that they did that in the Europa League, but in the Champions League it should not be possible.

Sevilla's current Laliga form is not encouraging, and this may have an impact on their Champions League performance because teams like Arsenal and PSV are playing very well in their respective leagues, with only Sevilla and Lens having poor starts to their respective league seasons; as a result, I predict Arsenal and PSV to qualify to the round of 16 ahead of Lens and Sevilla.
I don't imagine that Sevilla performed so badly in La Liga earlier this season, but there is a possibility that they can do better in the Champions League to win a place in the last 16. Sevilla are a different team in the Champions League so we shouldn't underestimate them just because of their poor form in La Liga.

In my opinion, Sevilla still has a chance even though Arsenal and PSV are able to perform well in their respective domestic leagues. Even though it can be used as a benchmark for analyzing the possibilities, I am sure that Sevilla will look different in the Champions League.
You are right we shouldn't use the performance of a club in the domestic league to judge the performance in the Champions league. Sevilla has been coming up with poor performance since the beginning of this season,I think that there is a reason for this. Maybe they want to stay more focus on the Champions league,who knows ?

This was how they started last season and ended up being the champion of Europa which gave them an automatic ticket to the champions league. So let's relax and watch how their performance will be in UCL,maybe very poor or not.

Sevilla Is definitely a good performer when it comes to the Europa League. They were able to win the Europa League competition without too many complications. They had to work pretty hard, but I have to say the Champions League competition and the Europa League competition are very different compared to each other.  So I don't know how they will be performing in the Champions League.

Performance from them in the La Liga has not been good. But of course that was also the case in the last season but they were able to win the Europa League. I wonder how far they will go in the Champions League this season. I also wanted if they will actually target touch Champions League instead of trying to get better in La Liga.

Galatasaray are joining the Champions League group stage for the first time after the 2019/20 season. But they are really unlucky to have such group with especially Bayern Munich and Manchester United. I don't see Copenhagen as a big threat honestly. We should be able to beat them in both games.

I don't think we can even get close to getting one point against Bayern Munich. They are just too strong and our defending has really big problems these days at the same time.

Maybe we can steal some points from Manchester United in our home game. But in Old Trafford I don't think so. The only way to qualify for next round for us can be to do an extra work like beating Manchester United home.  Grin

There are many other examples if you want to mention them. I mean; PSG, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, and several other top teams failed in the Champions League even though they were title winners in their respective domestic leagues. I agree with you that a team's performance in the domestic league cannot be completely used as a benchmark that they will perform just as bad in the Champions League.

~~~
This is not something new because if we remember last season they were also like that in domestic competitions.
I think in this case Sevilla will still be the same as before where they will continue to struggle but when they get good momentum they will return to form.
Now it's quite interesting what José Luis Mendilibar will do whether he will focus on at least competing to qualify for the Champions League group stage or give up the Champions League in the hope of finishing in 3rd place and repeating in the Europa League just like last season with a note that they have to focus more on La Liga in order to perform a little better.
With the current conditions I think one must be taken because seeing last season they were more focused on the Europa League it was good depending on José Luis Mendilibar's plan whether to follow the same plan as last season or change by focusing on improving in La Liga.
I don't consider Sevilla really capable of qualifying for the knockout stages this season if they can't improve their performance. Their chances are not better than Arsenal or PSV, but they have a chance to win the match and get points. The main target remains, they want to qualify for the last 16 but maybe it would be better if they went down to the Europa League and competed better there instead of just falling in the last 16.
The two teams that competed in the quarter-finals last season, namely Benfica and Inter, will be in group D for this season's Champions League. Both will be accompanied by Salzburg and Real Sociedad, who are also newcomers this season. If we look at the competition in Group D, it is very likely that Inter will win the group and for the runners up it will be a battle for the other 3 teams. I'm not underestimating Benfica but Real Sociedad and Salzburg were also quite competent in domestic league competition last season so anything can still happen. It seems that group D will also be quite a surprising group and in my opinion the ones who will qualify for the next round are Inter and Real Sociedad.
I'm not really sure who will be the winner in this group, it will be between Inter Milan and Benfica, maybe Inter Milan will be stronger than Benfica moreover, currently Inter Milan is performing quite well in domestic competitions, they have won all three matches they have played and have not conceded a goal but Benfica will always be a team that cannot be underestimated and in this competition, the team can appear different, stronger or vice versa, but I am quite sure that the two teams who will qualify and play in the knockout stages are Inter and Benfica while Salzburg and Real Sociedad will be very doubtful about their appearance in the champions league.
But if these two teams which is considered weak compared to the other two teams can overcome the match against the superior teams, maybe we will see a stronger team get eliminated early, and that is the beauty of this tournament and is also awaited by many football fans.
I'm thinking the same thing about this group, I mean I'm not entirely sure who's going to qualify for the next round yet. Maybe INter Milan are stronger than the 3 clubs here, but that's no guarantee, because I think there will be a lot of surprises in each encounter.
Real Sociedad and Salzburg are not to be underestimated, and Benfica is no exception. I think all the clubs will try to topple each other because in terms of chances I see no significant difference between the clubs and it could come down to goal productivity at the end.
Form the performances of the clubs in the group D of this season's UEFA Champions League competition so far, I think Inter Milan are the favourites to win the group. They've been exceptional this season and if they continue their great form in the Italian Serie A, they might be playing in the final of the competition once again.
Benfica I think also stands a chance to progress to the knockout stages. Real Sociedad and Salzburg didn't come to waste their time in the competition so they also will do their best to qualify
Inter Milan have everything it takes to lead the group ahead of Benfica, Salzburg, and Real Sociedad, but as we all know, the Champions League can be unpredictable, and teams that you think will qualify may not make it to the round of 16; however, experience matters, and Inter have a very good chance if they play like they did last season.
I think group B is inhabited by balanced clubs, it's true that Arsenal have become more superior after their movements in the last transfer market. If you look at group B, at first glance it looks like a club that usually plays in the Europa League competition. However, all clubs have experienced a lot of growth after buying and selling players this summer. I favor Arsenal and PSV to qualify for the next round, Sevilla and Lens are still very much in doubt.
Arsenal have been very successful in the EPL so far, they just beat Man United 3-1. It is possible that Arteta's squad will wipe out all the matches in the group phase with a win, let's wait for their action.
I guess this was the biggest surprise for most of us knowing how rich Newcastle United potentially is. But I couldn't find a reasonable answer why they did not really become very active on the transfer market. Is there any specific reason to that or was is just consent among the club bosses?
I think it obviously didn't pay out so far and some big names on their team would have certainly helped. It is still the relatively unknown squad that everybody was surprised about last season, but some enforcements would have been so important. Now they have the perfect failure for the start of the season.
Maybe last season, or rather last season's success happened earlier than they had planned? And despite the fact that the club qualified for the Champions League, the management is not ready to change long-term plans because of this. And it's too early to judge whether it's reasonable or not - we have an example of Chelsea which spends a lot of money but achieves absolutely nothing.
Yes and I am not saying that Newcastle is making a big mistake here, but I think they could have been a bit more bold in the transfer market. The means are there and maybe they are throwing away some momentum now if they fail hard this season and so far it isn't looking good. It's still not catastrophic, but we know how quickly this can develop into a whole that they can't dig their way easily out of.
I'm already imagining Sevilla in the Europa League after the group stage. Because even if they deal with Lens I don't think they can do the same as for PSV. I don't even mention Arsenal because I believe Sevilla don't have a chance against them. Arsenal can beat them home and away both. Sevilla should be grateful if they get one point home at least.
As for PSV they seem far stronger than Sevilla now. Their way of demolishing Rangers home was really impressive. I think PSV can get at least 4 points from Sevilla without exaggeration. Sevilla would finish the group as the third and fight for the Europa League title again.
I also think Inter will take first place. As for the second place I think it could be Benfica, but Salzburg also have the possibility to compete for that. The fact that Real Sociedad will not be able to compete in this group is a fact. That leaves three clubs that will fight for the first two places.
This can still change even if you say it as a fact, because basically all the teams in one group will compete for first place. But if the first place option is no longer available, it will push three more teams to aim for second place by giving everything they have to get there. I think the competition in Group D will also be quite fierce apart from the competition in Group F which will also look quite tense because there are also many teams that are just as good.
I don't know about all four teams. It seems to me that Real Sociedad is the weakest club in Group D. Of course, this is football and it cannot be ruled out that all clubs will be fighting to get out of the group. But I think that Sociedad will not be able to compete with the others.
Agree with you, it seems that Inter and Real Sociedad will try to attract attention, especially Real Sociedad whose existence cannot be underestimated. They can still show strong competition, especially in the UCL. Real Sociedad will be motivated. At least if you qualify as runner-up, that is quite an ordinary achievement. Benfica and RB Salzburg are also clearly clubs that are difficult to predict how Benfica and Inter will always be regular UCL clubs. However, for this season I tried to choose Inter and Real Sociedad as the favorite clubs in Group D.
Real Sociedad will try to attract attention after becoming a dark horse team in Group D, Inter Milan, who was runner-up last season, need not doubt their quality, they are also able to maintain their best game this season. Benfica cannot be underestimated in this group, Benfica came to the UCL as domestic league champions who joined Pot 1. Real Sociedad must fight tooth and nail to qualify for the round of 16 because apart from having to overcome Inter Milan, they also have to be able to get full points from Benfica, who have always been a regular team in the UCL.
I think Real Sociedad is also not a weak team and not an easy team to beat too. Because ya, even though Real Sociedad doesn't have a good chance in this Champions League, but that doesn't mean Real Sociedad doesn't have the ability to win in one of the matches later. Besides, if I think about Salzburg, at least their league in the Austrian league also doesn't have any competitive rivalry. So of course, with these factors also at least make Salzburg have a very good dominance of the local league. But in my view, it seems Salzburg quality is not much different from Real Sociedad. Therefore, for third place it seems like a contested between Real Sociedad and Salzburg, and for positions one and two of course it will be contested by Inter and Benfica.
It seems that group D will also be quite a surprising group and in my opinion the ones who will qualify for the next round are Inter and Real Sociedad.
Groups D, E and H seemed to me the ones with different possibilities. I mean the other groups have already two favourite teams to qualify but in these groups, you have one and a hard competition will occur between the rest.
In group D, I think we all agree that Inter is the favorite one to qualify most likely in the first place. For number 2, we have Benfica and Real Sociedad, both are quite good and could pass to the next stage. I don't think Salzburg will be a candidate but it will be an obstacle for one of them. I find Real Sociedad a little bit better than Benfica but I am not fully confident about that.
Sociedad also hasn't shown good performance at the start of this season. Even though they have never lost, the results of 4 matches in La Liga 3 include a draw, which they even got against a team that I don't think is that strong.
I will probably support Benfica more to accompany Inter to qualify for the next phase.
but this season group F is probably getting a lot of attention from fans. strong teams will fight there to fight for the 2 best places. I hope PSG can get 1 place to qualify, otherwise, this season is too bad for them.
It seems that group D will also be quite a surprising group and in my opinion the ones who will qualify for the next round are Inter and Real Sociedad.
Last season, I predicted that Inter would be defeated by Benfica. but the fact is that Inzaghi was able to work around his strategy, which in the end Benfica had to fall over Inter Milan. This season there are several Benfica players who have left, so I don't really know how they are currently performing. However, referring to the domestic league, Benfica remains the team in the top four of the standings. So, it's interesting for us to wait.
while for Real Sociedad, I don't have a picture for the squad for this team from the Spanish league. I don't mean to underestimate them, but it seems difficult for Sociedad to compete to be runners up or group winners. while for Salzburg, it's the same as Real Sociedad. these two teams, have to work hard to compete in the Group D phase.
As for Inter Milan, they should be able to carry out their matches in this competition as they did in domestic competitions. Currently Inter is at the top of the Serie A standings, there is a big possibility that Inter will win the group. But, this is only assumption and temporary speculation. to find out more, we must follow him.
I also thought like you, even though at that time Benfica was unstoppable and always won big, but again, a team like Inter is an opponent that has history in this competition. Goncalo Ramos is leaving this season, which makes me think that it is possible that Benfica will have difficulty gaining a position to qualify for Group D and we can see that Benfica's match results in the domestic league are also less than optimal. I mean, usually Benfica always wins with a landslide score over their opponents, but now they have quite a hard time doing that and often only achieve narrow wins. However, I actually still hope that Benfica can be like last season and as you said, this is only temporary speculation and apart from that, all developments between these teams will continue.
Sociedad is new comer this season that's why UEFA was putting them into pot 4 and i think they were a bit lucky because after drawing results Sociedad was not into hell group and the most favourite on group D indeed Inter Milan and Benfica because last season Inter Milan is the finalist and Benfica had good achievement because they can able advances to quarterfinal and almost made a history but unfortunately they lose from Inter Milan and eleminated
Sociedad has hard task to qualified because their opponents had more experience than them even Salzburg also cannot be underestimate moreover Sociedad performance at their domestic league still not stable and i know this is too early but the competitions for group D is only belongs to Inter Milan and Benfica which mean most likely these teams will be qualified to the next round
