I like Pigzby's idea, educational gaming with a payment/reward system, rly good stuff. And now the partnership with Wirex will help kids break their piggy wallet Cheesy

If Bitpay had a card in Europe I'd be using that instead. The costs are considerably lower and it was a simpler process to use overall. You just send BTC to it and away you go.

Interesting read. So, word on the street says Wirex is going to support more Alts. What is it now then?

1. The author doesn't know/understand much about crypto or spending crypto. I mean, really? "With transfer fees to consider, crypto doesn’t always make sense to the serious shopper."
2. From what I know the large number of supported cryptos is not new and it involves Shapeshift (so even more conversion fees).
3. Wirex has no direct relationship with VISA. Wirex has the relationship with Contis Financial Services Ltd, which handles the fiat operations and Visa.
4. The title of the article has nothing to do with the reality. Wirex is just a tool for conveniently exchange crypto into fiat which can be spent. And for most of the "other crypto" is probably cheaper to use another exchange to get to Bitcoin first, before getting to Wirex.
5. The only informative part for me was that Wirex itself has FCA approval, but this may be because I didn't read enough.

Interesting read.

The one, rather vital, thing that that article makes no mention of as far as I can tell is that Wirex have absolutely nothing to do with the actual issuance and operation of the card. They're a client of the third party who deals with Visa.

Sorry, I am off topic, but can I use the card outside the European Union? I mean other parts of Europe. Huh

Please check their T&C before you ask it here.

2.21 Wirex is prohibited from transacting business with individuals, companies and countries that are on prescribed Sanctions lists. Wirex will therefore screen against United Nations, European Union, UK Treasury and US Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) sanctions lists in all jurisdictions in which we operate.

So it means Wirex card has a limited location where you can use the Debit card so I think the card can only work inside the European Union and the other places listed above so, outside from European Union is not included.

Balls.

It's a visa card. It'll work wherever any visa card will work which is almost anywhere in the world if you look hard enough.

I used Wirex Card in Serbia and Macedonia (FYROM) in gas stations without problems. And they are not part of European Union.
However, you should know that Wirex card, although they work in most places, don't work in all the places, so a backup should be useful.
And if you have questions about a certain country, I think that the best course of action would be to ask Wirex support.

Is it possible to get a card without verification? Any lifetime limit?

Doubtful. If it was possible it would be subject to the EU 250 euro lifetime limit on prepaid stuff so it would be pretty useless and it would cost them too much too supply.

Now that they have an office in Singapore, I thought they'll expand the service to South East Asia.. The fuck man, EU always go first, a damn IBAN?!

https://www.financemagnates.com/thought-leadership/higher-limits-and-borderless-transactions-wirex-launches-iban/

Ho-lee mo-lee! Though it's limited to having to order a physical card (since virtual cards were eliminated), this is a huge step in the right direction. IBAN on a crypto/tradicional currency payment company just goes to show that the team behind Wirex has the head in the game, wish they could send the cards to more places, last I saw is they're expanding to Canada and Australia so yay for them!

With all the feedback and comments i've seen about Wirex the increasing of the account limits doesn't come as a surprise. I know you want one, but dont be so harsh on Europe, Serbian citizens aren't allowed to have one either, and last time i checked on the map Serbia was in Europe (if anything changed and i didn't got the updated map please send me the newest edition on PM). I guess we have to be patient bro.

but virtual card have they been eliminated?

i not see

Like most places, they lost their previous card provider which supplied pretty much everyone in the EU and beyond. They would've been the ones capable of offering the virtual card. Wirex have no control over that.

Wirex now have a new provider and it looks like they only do physical cards.
