So, my first stuck deposit is now solved after being escalated "to the relevant team".

My second stuck deposit now says successful, but has not been posted to my BTC balance. Sneaky skim attempt number 2? I probably wouldn't have noticed with that small an amount normally. Probably a bit cynical to suggest that, but the sky is blue, the grass is green and if you keep hold of something hot you get burned. Intentional or not, I bet many people would not notice a small missing deposit. Sounds like a cheeky little earner, even if it is a genuine fault.

I've also just checked the automated response I got when opening my ticket about the card not working and found they have set all PayPal category tickets to be auto closed. I got this email instantly upon opening the ticket, so thought it was just the standard acknowledgment. I never considered for a second it was a notification my newly created ticket had been instantly closed. I've asked them to re-open my ticket and actually read it, lets see how that goes. Email is below, I'm fine with it right up until it says "Your current ticket status: Solved." If that's being done I would want it obviously stated in the subject field so it doesn't get missed, not slapped on the end of the automated message.

Anyway, it appears my issues are slowly seeing some progress, though I am still not gaining much confidence in Wirex.

I think I've seen a page with the new limits, but I can't find that one now.
However, this may be of help too: https://wirexapp.com/important-note-unverified-card-limits/
It's the note that tells that the unverified accounts get heavily limited - 250 USD/GBP/EUR total (lifetime) card balance.

Thanks for that, that would seem to fit with my experience. It seems utterly ridiculous though that 3 months after the limits were changed (not just changed, massively nerfed) that the site hasn't been updated and still advises the old high limits are in effect. All FAQs at Wirex link to the page I posted above with the $2000 limits. There's no mention of any $250 combined simultaneous balance limit that I can find other than that blog post.

If the $250 balance limit is still in force then this amounts to bait and switch, so in my mind is a scam based on the poor exchange rate. They've baited me into depositing my money, then skimmed a portion off when doing a currency exchange. Free money - they made £30 on my currency exchange (7.5% below market rate). The fact that I can withdraw my BTC at a loss is irrelevant, the exchange rate skim is the scam. Once my BTC deposits are fixed I think I'm through with Wirex as I certainly don't trust them enough to send them my drivers licence and bank statement. Will try Cryptopay next I think.

Thanks for the reply - that would definitely explain why my transaction wouldn't go through. However this wirex page quite clearly says its $2000 lifetime load limit from BTC with a max transaction value of $800 for ePOS on unverified accounts.

Given the experience so far it wouldn't surprise me if these advertised limits are incorrect. Wirex seem neither thorough nor attentive, a very poor combination when dealing in finance.

I sent them scans of my ID and my utility bill.

If this helps, I used my bank's credit card "bill" (I don't know a better word) along with driver's license and they got both accepted in the specified time, from the first attempt.
The idea was that I expected that banks go easier / accept easier bank papers and it was a good guess.

I gave up on banks a long time ago Wirex will be my new bank (hopefully). I only have electricity bill's and utility bills to sent and I sent them a copy of my passport which should be good enough.  I just feel the reply saying we do not accept po boxes when my address is quite clearly on the letter then asking me to submit again which I did to be told there not acceptable but no reason as to why?

Also waiting days for replys from them regarding the issue really frustrating.

I suspect i'll be asked to complete bank verification, who knows if that will help.

I also suspect that you'll need the complete bank verification by Wirex. The lifetime $2000 is old news, it has change about 2 month ago to $250 for unverified cards. And until it gets verified all the transactions are rejected.
I had the same surprise for not understanding correctly the changes back then. However, after verifying my Wirex account it worked fine (but I did just normal purchases, I didn't link it to PayPal).

For what its worth here's my experience as a new customer (registered 9th September) living in the UK.

Sign up went fine, selected a GBP virtual card and it was issued, all without sending any btc to wirex.

Sent 0.15btc from my wallet, it immediately appeared and was exchangeable after a single confirm.

Went poking around on ebay for something to buy, found a cpu I fancied, but it was listed in dollars. Figured id get a USD virtual card to avoid currency conversion fees. Applied for the card, it was issued but cost me 0.0007 btc. My account total was now very close to the amount I needed, so I figured id transfer in a little more btc to be on the safe side. Sent 0.007 btc...which stuck pending. It now has hundreds of confirms, still pending. When this didnt show up after an hour or so, I figured id send another micro transaction to see if that went through - sent 0.001btc which also got stuck pending. Raised tickets for the pending amounts, and so far have only received a very poor reply saying sometimes it takes up to two weeks for transactions to be included on the chain and show up in the wallet. This is irrelevant as my TXs have hundreds of confirms each. Lazy support response just intended to see if the problem resolves itself. No wonder they have a backlog of support tickets.

At this point I was a little frustrated, so decided that my $620 balance should be enough to cover the $618 item I wanted. Linked my card to my paypal, it went through fine. Saw the $1 charge appear, even though it was not deducted from my balance. Paypal confirmed the card was added, everything looked ok.

I triple checked all the deposit, withdrawal, purchase and lifetime limits on the card - max purchase $800, max deposit (lifetime $2000), btc deposits unlimited per day (min 0.0001), unlimited POS/ePOS per day, so I should be able to complete this purchase with my card. So I tried to use the card on ebay..."We can't process your payment" when trying to use as a paypal attached card. Tried to use it as a standalone debit payment, again "We can't process your payment".

Went back to paypal and saw a new button had appeared on the card for verification....doh!!! Clicked the verify button and a $1.03 charge and a pin code appeared immediately on my online account with wirex. Added the code, card now verified. All looked good so tried to make the payment again...but no. Spits up the same "We can't process your payment. Please select a different payment method or check your payment details including your billing address.". Interestingly when trying the standalone debit card option a $1 charge is successfully taken each time (but not deducted from my balance) by paypal/ebay. Tried using ebay UK and ebay US, but no dice.

My billing address on ebay, paypal and wirex all match, as do my phone numbers and my name. I've raised another ticket with wirex (my third now) querying the failed payment but obviously no reply yet. I suspect i'll be asked to complete bank verification, who knows if that will help. If it wasn't for the stuck pending deposits I would've just pulled my BTC out by now and written it off as a bad experience, but I still have nearly 0.01btc stuck in limbo waiting to be credited to my wirex wallet.

I'm unsure what I'll do at this point, my experience so far has given me little confidence in uploading my personal documents to Wirex. I don't care about anonymity with this card, but obviously still care about protecting my personal data.

It's not been great. Plus the ebay item I wanted has now gone up by $70.

Edit:
Ticket IDs: 211719 confirmed deposit stuck pending (received irrelevant response to this ticket), 212906 confirmed deposit stuck pending (ticket allocated, no reply yet) and 212918 payment unable to be taken (no response yet).

5 days later, still no resolution to my issue:

1. The funds are still missing. I'm not aware of where they are atm.
2. I have no information on what happened and why. What should be done to avoid such issues in future?
3. My Wirex account is unusable as I'm not sure my next transactions won't disappear too.

Thank you that does answer an important aspect of my query because I did not know about the possibility of addresses used to originally load my personal wallet. I assume this would be, for example, defunct exchanges e.g. Intersango ?

Usually, it can be if the wallet was loaded from the black market or the same very suspicious services. Anyway, each case is individual and we recommend to communicate with our compliance team.

I don't understand that page it's quite unclear to me. Is the most I can load on this card 800 usd ? if it's unverified.

If your card is unverified you can spend (exchange to BTC, online, offline, ATM) only $800. It is the limit per account, not only per card.
To increase the limits you need to complete verification.

I am not pleased to see I will already be needing a new card.. Since I am in Canada the card I just paid for will not work after October 15? I literally just bought this and feel ripped off..

I believe they are busy with the card transition process. As you know, Wirex (like most bitcoin card providers) are transitioning to a non-Visa system. Visa International recently acquired Wave Crest. As a result of this merger and acquisition, radical changes were introduced in line with Visa's policies, one of which is to stop distributing the cards to non European residents.

Your Wirex card will be valid until midnight of 15th October 2017. Beyond this day, if you are a non-EU resident, you can consider your card a souvenir piece or just a useless space taker in your wallet.

if your tickets are being ignored, try posting on their Facebook and twitter pages.

Wait so i am not going to be able to use my wirex VCC past the 15th October mark? Will i be able to get a new anonymous card for free still, or will i have to verify my identity to continue using Wirex's services?

I mean i'm not the biggest fan of Wirex but hey, what other choices to you have other than cryptopay Tongue

Anyways i noticed that after the update i am now able to load my card and exchange it back to BTC without any transaction fees. Thanks wirex for implementing this, before it was costing me way too much money to send between card and btc wallet.

Already tried both FB and Twitter no response so far. And yes, I live in Europe so the whole card story shouldn't affect me. Anyhow, it's not an excuse as they should have politely replied they're looking into my issue please stand by or something like this...  The worst part is the lack of communication, no information on what's going on. Look, when you call your bank and they don't pick up the phone - will you feel safe about your money?  Embarrassed

Hi,

We've sent a transaction on September 7 to add funds to our account but it hasn't appeared in our account until now (please check our tickets 209260, 210169, 211227). This transaction shows as complete and confirmed in our BTC wallet (359 confirmations). Could you please look into this for me? When can we expect the load to complete?

Our system may have identified that you made a few transactions with suspicious wallet addresses that fall outside of our permitted risk parameters. I mean not only your personal wallet address that was used to load Wirex wallet, but also suspicious addresses that were used to load your personal wallet before the transfer to the Wirex.
We can’t provide you full details about the reason why our system flagged your transaction for compliance. We prefer to keep our internal risk-based policies confidential.

Thank you that does answer an important aspect of my query because I did not know about the possibility of addresses used to originally load my personal wallet. I assume this would be, for example, defunct exchanges e.g. Intersango ?

What are your unverified card loading limits? Not very clear to me.

Hello.

The limits for unverified cards you can find here: https://help.wirexapp.com/hc/articles/115001824585
And after verification, the limits are: https://help.wirexapp.com/hc/ru/articles/115001789829

I don't understand that page it's quite unclear to me. Is the most I can load on this card 800 usd ? if it's unverified.

I was pleased to see how quickly i was able to load and the fees weren't bad since segwit implementation.

I am not pleased to see I will already be needing a new card.. Since I am in Canada the card I just paid for will not work after October 15? I literally just bought this and feel ripped off..
