Hi, I have got my Wirex card today and have a few sats on my digital account. Is there a need to  exchange those sats to  EUR prior to the card  usage   at POS?

Hi.
I hope that I remember it correctly. Go to cards and under your card see Linked accounts.
If Bitcoin is not shown as linked account and it's available to link, click the link icon. Then I think that you should be fine.

Cashback 15%
Seems like everyone abandoned this service, or everyone is happy and they have nothing to complain in this topic, which of course it's not my case.

I still have the card, but don't use it much. Although it seems to behave much better than Binance card, the later one is much cheaper to use (although one may want to wait for higher price to sell Bitcoin).
And yes, those WXT rewards are simply useless.
Still, unless the card didn't expire, I don't see any good reason to throw it away, not yet, as long as there's no monthly fee.

RON to the moon? 500% in one swing is quite nice!  Grin

Well, not when I'm buying it Wink

Have you tried using the card by inserting it into POS machine each and every time, without that contactless thing? I know its a hassle for both you and merchant but just for the sake of testing it out.

It has happened to me even with an online payment, so I don't think that inserting it into POS could help, but, why not, I might try that too when I get the error.

Yeah, "cashback" which is not really cash but a token who has as I'm checking the market a habit of going 100% up and 50% back down, and you're not really getting it back either unless you stake!  Grin
So, it's more like a promise to get a cookie if you get an A+!
Hah, from what I know all crypto debit cards are giving tokens/coins back as a part of cashback, no stablecoins so Wirex is not that much worse in that regard. I am just looking at the WXT chart and it doesn't look that volatile to me, at least much more volatile than currencies of the competition.

This whole legalization and taxation of cryptos will sure give birth to some moron crypto experts over at our IRS counterpart that will manage to find I have earned 10 euros on some god-forgotten service I used years ago and not filled and paid my taxes. So the fewer possible headaches, the better, imagine asking for a detailed report on the profits made on each conversion.
Not worth it in my opinion.
True, I don't expect to use crypto debit cards for much longer either and will have to find some other way to spend crypto efficiently, maybe even go back to ATMs unless they put mandatory KYC there as well and combination of that and generally high fees would make BATM worst option possible.

Shortly, about every 4th-5th place I try to use the black card, it gets rejected and the app shows that 2 transactions were attempted.
For example if I want to buy something worth 100 RON, I see a 20 EUR and an 100 EUR (!!) transaction, both rejected.

Want more rewards?, instead of 0.5% to 2%, so easy, just stake 10k euros with us!

Are you talking about cashback? If yes that is crazy demand for only 2%. Afaik, to get 2% via Binance card you only need to have 2 BNB which is at the moment  ~750 euros.

Your Binance card is not reliable? I am asking because I don't have issues for the last 4-5 months, if we don't count the problem of that contactless thing not working every time I am paying something that is more expensive than 50-60 euro. But I got used to to it so when I am buying something more expensive than that I just ask for card to be inserted into POS machine immediately and problem solved.

Yep, unreliable, but I didn't really want to discuss here about the competition.

Since I've got a new phone I planned to do a lot of app cleaning, found wirex again, I wanted to see if it still works, suddenly the balance is 50 euros in wxt, since I had that wallet ignored previously I wasn't aware of the how much reward I had, so I said, let's spend it, blackjack and hookers!  Grin

Not so fast, when I tried to exchange my wxt seems like I need at least 18154 wxt at a price of 1euro =131 wxt so around 140 euros as they've probably set this limit to be around 150$.

So to get my so much advertised crypto rewards I would need to spend 30k euros on the standard plan!!!!
I know for sure there wasn't such a high limit before as I did trade some a year or so ago but now, this is pure bs.

WIREX IS A RIDICULOUS AND USELESS SERVICE.

Recently i ve got a refund from a merchant.I bought something 1year+ ago.I thought i had used my crypto.com cc but that was my mistake.I had used their old cc from their old cc provider(Contis) as ive been told.
Now the refunded money are somewhere with contis and since wirex doesnt "work" with contis they tell me that i must solve the problem my own.

No fckin wirex, i register with you not with contis. You will solve my problem.
They are ridiculous, how can a serious company refuse help to its customers?

...i have already emailed contis but i didnt get any answer.Just a confirmation email.

Wirex Support is absolutely useless, by the way.

So keep in mind when you use Wirex that it may be very difficult to get your money back.
For me personally the best and I believe the only decision to close Wirex account forever and to remember Wirex as nightmare.

I would like to close account too if I get my funds back.
But for more than a year it is not possible because they do not accept my uploaded papers... Angry

Hello!
I would like to warn everybody to stay away from Wirex.
Everywhere on the Internet there are a lot of reviews that people can’t withdraw their funds from Wirex. I didn’t believe but I experience such case on myself.
My account was not blocked. Withdrawal of Wirex Token on Stellar blockchain took 30 days. When I initiated withdrawal the exchange rate of WXT to USDT was almost 40% higher than on the day I was able to withdraw my funds.
Wirex Support is absolutely useless, by the way.
I used tons of crypto services around the globe and believe me Wirex has the worst support and the biggest delays in providing services.
So keep in mind when you use Wirex that it may be very difficult to get your money back.

Ok, so a little update on this

The whole change from Visa to Mastercard seems to be a small to medium disaster.
I've mostly stopped using it, only dumping a few tokens on it since I really don't want to use and exchange for 50-100$ worth of shitcoins, but seriously paying over the internet for small purchases is a pain in the ass, as I stated before, but now it seems there are more problems with it.

With the Visa card I had no problem outside the Eurozone while still being in the EU, seems that with the Mastercard one, once I'm out of my comfort zone nothing works. I've been on a trip to Slovakia and Hungary last week and decided to play with the card...
In Hungary, it didn't work for anything! No shop, Starbucks, restaurants, metro tickets, nothing worked! No ATm withdraws possible, all kinds of errors from "transaction declined by your bank" to "we're sorry the transaction can't be processed",  PoS errors were simple  "declined transaction" as the cashiers told me. Crossing the border in Slovakia, magic from the first gas station, everything worked fine!

Of course, I opened a support ticket on Wednesday...still no reply.

Today wirex have locked many UK accounts and are now asking for additional KYC above what they normally asked for such as

Passport / Driving license.
Proof of address.
Name
DOB
Ect.

They are now asking existing accounts to supply additional information such as source of funding.

They have limited access to both crypto and fiat deposit's or withdraw at this time and are asking for proof of where funds come from.  They did not give options for mining income though as one of the options.

Not looking good for wirex at this time the FCA seem to have them over a barrel and now they are locking customers funds and asking for additional info.

Unacceptable wirex....

anybody know how I get my crypto back because have tried over a year x-times for Proof of address and they have never accepted it.
(have the old Visa card and never used it because of this)
TIA

I have had good experiences with Trastra after leaving Wirex.

5% spread, same Contis issuer, I see nothing special about them, plus the fact that all their social media TW,FB,Reddit have zero comments good or bad makes me wonder if they have more than a hundred clients.

If Contis is "not a problem", there are more known options for the card, probably with lower fees and spread too (like Binance).
At least Wirex move to MasterCard resulted more reliable cards, or better accepted by merchants.

I have never had such a bad experience with any crypto card supplier. To just tell you they are closing your service and you HAVE to apply to maintain a card with their system is a very insulting way to deal with customers. Pretty obvious they don’t give a sh*t about customer care.

What do you mean to apply?
They've changed cards, dropped Visa for Mastercard, it was normal for them to ask you if you want to have one.
Anyhow mine is gathering dust right now and not Bitcoin dust, I got annoyed by all their shitcoins offering, the fact that you can't set default exchange to be to euro and it's always wxt shown so you have to be careful to change it and not buy their token, the fact that although you have some cashback program is again in wxt and you can't exchange those til you reach 25 euros which is bs and many more.

So, I got my wirex card in the mail on Friday, did a bit of testing with it before some feedback.

Some things have changed
- obviously, Mastercard and not Visa anymore  Grin
- the balance is no longer split on the card, you don't need to fund your euro card account with euro
- contactless payments are working far better. I did about 10-12 purchases, not a single time has the PoS asked for the PIN, with the old one it happened about one in 5 times.
- payment over the internet? This one is a disaster! Tried to pay my vpn subscription, failed, tried to buy a membership with one of the games I play online, failed, tried to pay my electric bill, failure again. The only thing I was able to pay was the bill with my ISP, they asked for a 6 digit security number, got that and the payment got through, All others, the sum is charged and then instantly credit back to your account. This is one big NO.
- the cashback is now in WXT, again..meh
- I assume this is a change too but in order to get higher cashback rewards, you need to pay for a subscription, which is, I don't even know how to call it other than BS, 10 euro a month to get back 1% instead of 0.5, you need to spend 2k euros for it to make sense excluding the other exchange fees, not going to happen.
- created a ticket about the rejected payments on Friday, no answer back till this moment

Overall, the previous Visa experience was better.
Note to myself, I need to stop collecting those damn crypto cards like they are pokemons!

But since we're comparing it, how's Binance charging you for ATMs withdrawals in your country directly in RON(!?) ?

I will answer now here, but please try in the future ask this on any other place than competition's topic. Let's be nice.

I've done only test withdrawals, and only 2. One was on bank's exchange rate, meaning some 8% fees (urgh, never again), one was at "issuer" exchange rate, which was exactly VISA exchange rate plus the usual 0.9%.
I don't know yet if it's eligible for cashback or not, since one withdraw was in the free period and one is too fresh. But that's all (!).
