I´ve just show that the lst check from Cryotsy at the ZEIT wallet was at 2014-12-18 00:27:53 (you can check that in https://www.cryptsy.com/pages/status).

Cryptsy is..... [paste your invectives here]

Mitras had been waiting many weeks (or months?) to get the lost 40M ZEIT back.
There is only one way that 'might' help: Tickets, tickets, tickets - trolling the chat and Twitter spamming.
ZEITCOIN official will not do that - but you guys can.

There is no maintenance, there is incompetence as its best.

They need 1 day to add a IPO Scam wallet, because of the trading fees they will earn in the following 3 days.
Helping an old 'friend' like ZEIT is too much work for that minor profit. That's how it goes. A donation would help.
It's not the first time.

I've found some Chatlogs between Cryptsy and our Dev from March '14. I will not continue with this or make anything public about it - the logs are safe.
But it shows me how the world actually works and how much we need the ZeitKnights.

Cheers,
Ray

great work on the new explorer Ray, as always. Hats off!

as for the exchanges, YObit.net is on my observation, however I am a bit sceptical, to any new exchange taking into account how many of them disappeared quicker than they showed up. Many (recent) examples include: sharexcoin.com, cryptex.biz, ... you name your examples
On the other hand, I am now trading comfortably at comkort, and despite their low volume they already convinced me. Very good and responsive support, more than reasonable GUI. The only problem they have is the low volume, which I hope will improve soon.

Yeah, seems to work OK.

When you add it to the OP (etc) remember to add YoBit exchange too - seems legit, so far.

I added another 'WTF?' note to the crapsy ticket but don't expect any more response than I got from the first 4.

WANKERS

Yobit has a place on OP/Website news since the beginning.

OK, Explorer is working (for now - don't ask why, I have no idea - hope a daily chain backup helps).

A question for the Linux pro's.

After some testing with the explorer, kiklo and I be sure: the VPS needs an upgrade.
Zeitcoin Daemon eats up around 70% (512) of physical memory and 80% of CPU while syncing.
After that, zeitcoind uses 69% mem, 20% CPU.
(free space 9GB, zeitcoind niceness=+15)

While the Daemon gets synced, zeit-coin.net mainpage is very slow. (Which is ok for me, I could limit the CPU usage for zeitcoind)
After some hours of working well, zeitcoind destroys the blkindex.dat. (irreparably)
Code:
EXCEPTION: St13runtime_error
CDB() : can't open database file blkindex.dat, error 22
zeitcoin in AppInit()

terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::runtime_error'
what():  CDB() : can't open database file blkindex.dat, error 22
Aborted
Rebooting the server in this case is not possible anymore without external access.
All services (including SSH/FTP) are blocked, crashed or dead.

Well, next upgrade level is 1 GB RAM and a Xeon Dual Core. Would try this.

Any experience?

Specs:
OS: Debian minimal.
RAM: 1 GB
CPU: 2 Xeon
HD: 40 GB

Services:
mySQL Server
postgre Server
apache2+php+....
zeitcoind
fail2ban server

Unbelievable for me: Most wallets are successfully working on a RaspyPI with apache, sql etc...... (256/512MB, slow ARM CPU)
Compiling takes many hours till days (on my VPS only 8 mins), but daemons are running there..

Any idea?

Thanks in advice,
cheers Ray

We have a new (3rd) Explorer. It's not as comfortable as chainz, but it's our own and it's free.
It's a bit slow at the moment. I will upgrade the VServer and the kernel version for a better performance/security in the next days.
Link coming soon! (after syncing  Cheesy )

It's one of the first Tools I am working on. Graphical price chart, faucet and API will follow.

Ray

I agree. Exchanges are a necessary evil. I don't trust them, but I still use them. But I learn from other's misfortunes and I don't leave my Zeit on the exchanges any longer than I have to. Most often I make a purchase and withdraw immediately. I haven't sold any of my Zeit, but I understand that some people do in order to maintain market fluidity. It is a risk some people are willing to take in order to shore up sell walls and what not. I'm just not very trusting by nature. But the good thing is that Zeit has mostly been left alone by scammers and dumpers lately. I'll keep my eye on this exchange for sure. The one good thing I can say about it is that we didn't have to buy votes to be listed there. That is one thing I simply can't stand and have never been a fan of.

Very true, NO centralised exchange is ever truly 'safe'.

LOL those sell walls are mostly mine, doing my best to 'keep things honest' while this exchange 'proves itself' Wink

The (BTC) withdrawal system works fine, so far - I sent some to 'trex to buy a few BYC earlier.

There can't be any safe Exchange as long as people are working on it.
I don't need the green ProjectInvestors SSL bar in my browser. It says nothing about their security status.
Have a look at BTC-e. It's one of the biggest and oldest BTC marketplaces in the scene. Do we know who's behind?

We know Paul Vernon of Cryptsy. But who cares? If they loose 10000 BTC Paul would say: "We were robbed! It was an inside job!"
That's all - Cryptsy will close the doors.

If Comkort get robbed, Admin would probably say the same. There is no difference. In both cases we are screwed, eh?

All we need is luck  Grin

I must admit, I was a bit skeptical of the YoBit thing when I first read it here. I mean, having Zeit priced at 800 satoshi? Although that would be nice (will be nice, that is), it just seemed a bit fishy to me. It seemed at first like an attempt to get people to start dumping their Zeit on the exchange, for whatever nefarious purpose, I don't know. But I had just awakened from a serious lack of sleep after having been at work all night, so my mind was going a bit off.

But now that I am about to enjoy my first cup of coffee for the day, and I am more awake, I took a look at the website and it looks pretty professionally done to me. I see that there are sell walls at 2 through 7 satoshis and a buy wall at 1, so that looks more reasonable.

Still, I think I will bide my time and keep an eye on this exchange before I start using it. I am inherently distrustful of exchanges as it is. And we have to face facts, the Chinese do have an unfortunate reputation of being scammers in the crypto world. I really hope this turns out to be legit though. Having an exchange in the Asian market will be good, I think.

Additional

Despite the FUD on their thread about it, registration was spot-on.

I then sent a few thousand Zeit over - it confirmed before I rolled one Wink

One thing I've noticed that I like is that the minimum order value has to be at least 0.0001 BTC

Did anyone else notice that some lucky bugger sold 100 Zeit for 800 sats each earlier today?

Dear Forum Members!

ZeitCoin is listed on YoBit.net Exchange (free coins in chat): https://yobit.net/en/trade/ZEIT/BTC

Our topic on BitcoinTalk: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/yobitnet-cryptocurrency-exchange-multicoin-dice-free-coins-every-1-24-hrs-914975
I wonder what Lion thinks about this mickey mouse exchange.

I think that

a) It's too early to judge a new exchange - so no major deposits there until it's proven good.

b) Zeit/btc pairings - esp. in Chinese! - are potentially a VERY good thing as ltc is collapsing faster than paycoin Sad
