This semi-auto offside technology seems like it can be very helpful in the World Cup. Sometimes referees can have big problems on detecting an offside even in the presence of the usual offside line technology. I assume that this new semi-auto one is going to be tested in an official tournament for the first time. If it becomes successful then we can see it in many leagues after the World Cup ends. Decreasing the number of mistakes to minimum must be utmost effort for the people in charge.
I welcome when there is a lot of technology that helps to minimize mistakes in football. But on the other hand I feel it will reduce the drama of football itself a bit. As I especially feel, what makes us more interested in the match is the drama, although sometimes I feel irritated when there is a referee's decision that is considered controversial.
I don't know, less drama seems like a good thing to do actually, why would we want more drama? Just have the decisions checked each time from the VAR and you will get the results. As long as the VAR results are aired on TV, if the ref makes a wrong decision when the VAR clearly shows the right one, then people could see if the ref is bad or not, and ref association or whatever could warn the ref.

So all in all we shouldn't really be wanting less tech, we should want more. Of course, it is going to stop the games a bit more and it would have a bit less flow, but it could still be something enough to go on. All in all, just realize that drama is the outside of the pitch stuff, and we shouldn't want those dramas.

The VAR will certainly be used at the world championship in Qatar. The VAR should be a great added value, but there too it is the interpretation of how a referee and his assistant view a situation. You don't always have written rules for situations, even with a penalty for example. 50% of the VAR would give him and 50% would not. Honesty and accuracy is not guaranteed with the VAR and that is the main problem.
Despite everything, I think that the VAR will have a great added value at the World Cup.

I feel the same thing too, too much of this introduction of technology will spoil the game, var has already been introduced and it is enough if you ask me, it is not like i like var, i believe it slows down the game too much, and even if they have time to decide on a decision, they make mistakes a few times and increase controversy in football, but i will prefer if var alone can do the job in making sure mistakes are cut down to the very minimum. I don't like the idea of semi-automatic offside technology, and i hope it ends in the world cup, we don't need it in our football leagues or the champions league.

Right now, VAR is being used very rarely. Only once in a while, the referees need assistance in deciding whether the ball had crossed the line or not. But if they implement it for off-side, then my concern is that it will cause a lot of delays. Because in the same match, we may have 3-4 instances of off-side. If the match gets paused this often, then the fans may complain about it. As of now, I will not prefer VAR for off-side. For deciding whether the ball has passed the goal-line, it is OK. But let's restrict its usage just to it.

If you welcome and accept well then you have to be able to let the drama you want go away and I wonder, you welcome it but you can't lose from the drama itself, how can that be. However, the development of that era will occur and we must be prepared for all the changes that occur, because we live in a world that is constantly evolving. After all, even though technology has been applied in football, drama will always come with the latest version. You can see how VAR works, even though it has been applied but with this technology the tension in football is still high, right? and football will still have its drama in every match.

This semi automatic offside detection technology seems to use cameras to detect the limbs of the players.

This type of technology not always works as intended, and it gives slightly different positions of the arms, legs, etc, because it's based on general training data.

I know that the PR department of whoever made this and FIFA will say it's "perfect" but it's not.

It's not as perfect, as for example, a finish line detection system in races, where you have a robust system that detects exactly where a point (person or animal running) touched the plane of the finish line.

This technology is way more complicated and it won't work as well. It will just allow the referee to make a bad call and nothing can be said about it.

Introduction of Video Assistant Referee (VAR) was a revolutionary change in football and therefore I am confident that the new innovation would also please the fans. My only concern is regarding the delay. How long does it takes to confirm whether the position is off-side or not? Viewers may get irritated if the match is paused in between, so that the referee needs to take a decision on whether a goal needs to be allowed or not. If it is less than a minute, then I don't think that anyone will be having an issue.

VAR is a football assistant referee in charge of reviewing the head referee's decisions by viewing instant video recordings.
As far as I know VAR is not yet part of the laws of the game, but its use has been tested by the International Football Association Board in several tournaments.

I think that this kind of new technology in football matches is very good and can solve problems on the field, such as unclear goals, serious fouls, diving, and other drama dramas that often occur in the field.
regardless of your concerns about delays.
football will still be interesting and may possibly prevent arguments between players or referees.

FIFA will formally introduce the semi-automatic offside system for the Qatar 2022 World Cup. Match officials can use these tools to help them make decisions more quickly and correctly both on the field and in the video room. The success of the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) at the 2018 World Cup in Russia inspired the development of this semi-automatic offside detection device, which has since undergone trials at the Arab Cup 2021 and the Club World Cup.

To create and enhance semi-automatic offside detection technology, FIFA closely collaborates with Adidas and a number of other partners.
FIFA have been doing quite a good job, doing everything possible to improve the game. The introduction of the VAR system has changed the game positively and improved officiating in the game, the success of the VAR in the past years gives encouragement and hope that the semi-automated offside detection device will also improve the game and improve officiating the game.
I just hope FIFA is willing to try to keep improving the fairness of the game, for a very long time they refused to accept any technology into the matches because they argued that it will disrupt the flow of the game, however they disregarded the desire of the fans which wanted to see nothing more but a fair competition and not see a championship being decided by the mistake of a referee or by a dubious call, something which has happened already several times.

FIFA continues to strive to improve the quality in the world football match, so far VAR has been one of the important guidelines for referees to make decisions and I think VAR is very helpful and makes matches more fair, if FIFA is successful in realizing offside technology then this will be a new breakthrough in football so that later in football matches no clubs or country feel aggrieved by the referee decision, besides we will see new technology applied to the world cup later, the 2022 world cup will also be good news for women because of several media I read,  FIFA will make a new history by appointing 3 female referees, the appointment of 3 female referees will be the first time in the history of the world cup because so far we have never seen a female referee officiating a match like the world cup.

Interestingly referees can still make big mistakes despite having a system like VAR. We see these mistakes in some games even though not the majority of games are like this. However I still hope that this new technology will hinder big mistakes in the World Cup. Some positions can be very tricky to decide whether they are offside or not. You just need to look into them in a very detailed way. If this system doesn't have any technical problem then these positions wouldn't be evaluated wrongly as of now.
Technology in sports is future because we all know how things are going so FIFA is also trying their best for having things which could be acceptable for all and take less time and have better view so still chance of mistakes on, but change is good which will having better impact in the future.

Once we will use this then surely all parties will try to have implemented because this can reduce mistakes but still these all are having chance to change things because chance of improvement is all time on.
Recently we already have good changes in many other games with technology and now empires and referees are trying to the best use of this and have less chance of mess up during the game.

There are other strong teams in South America, such as Uruguay, which was twice the world champion and played in the semi-finals of the 2010 World Cup.
It is true that Europe has more quality national teams, but the main reason for this is that Europe has many more countries than South America.
And some other South American national teams were also very difficult opponents of the European national teams at the previous world championships, like Chile or Paraguay, as far as I remember.
We will see who will be more successful at this world championship in Qatar, European or South American teams  Cheesy
I do not believe even Brazil and Argentina, let alone Uruguay. This is why I do not think that any of them would do anything to win it. Why I believe that? I do not know if this is wrong or not, but I feel like those teams do not have the seriousness when they are playing to make this work, like they play with more talent and fun then anything else, and they lack the discipline required to be a winner of a tournament when playing with other continents.

Maybe I am wrong, but if you look at it, last time a team from South America won, was 2002 Brazil, it has been 20 years, ever since then it has been just one more finalist, and all others were European.
Be careful, you cannot underestimate the colossi, you are talking about Brazil, Argentina, and the first country that won a World Cup, which is Uruguay, do not echo what Mbappé said that they have silenced him enough, both the European and South American teams they have a high level, I think that a European player would not feel good playing in Manaus in a temperature above 42°C at noon, where the sun hits much harder and the humidity is impressive, where your head it can become as heavy as an anvil and where sweat is the drops of water that you don't want to leave your body, because that's what it feels like to run (Just run) in the Arena do Brasil (Manaus) I tell you properly because I've played there, and you know something? the Brazilians play there at that time as if they were very fresh, in fact, the one who played there was CR7 in 2014, and they had to do intervals of time to give the players hydration, because the Europeans couldn't stand much, then the stronger conditions makes stronger players.

and semi-automated offside technology which is expected to provide additional and more accurate VAR information, as well as assist the referee's decision-making process and make the review process as efficient as possible. And I really wanted to see how it worked on the pitch because this technology is a first in football.
This type of system is much more reliable, because even so with the VAR the one who has the last voice is a human, and I think the technology is much more reliable, hopefully all kinds of assistive technology can be implemented for a referee and that Above all, it is visible to everyone, so it is much easier to detect not only a play, but it also reveals any type of corruption that the referee himself wants to do.

although sometimes the losses experienced by the team are not in the form of direct goals. but it can affect the emotions of players on the field.
we will see how this technology will be successfully implemented or still requires further development.

Argentina will be stronger if they play together with team work. Everyone knows Messi is the most important player in the team but that shouldn't dispute against the idea of team work and team spirit. Every player has their different role to play in the squad and if this roles are carried out effectively and efficiently the team will do a lot better in the coming World Cup.
Indeed, football is basically a game that relies on teamwork. But in Argentina recently it has not been seen at all, they seem to have their own game so that it has an impact on the team's overall performance. Messi is a star player, I have no doubts about that. But if the burden falls on him alone I'm not sure he will lift the team's performance. Still, there must be good teamwork.
