Hi,
the altocoin market is so variuous and there are dozen of interesting projects that can be supported.

But  i'm a little investor (500$) and i'm seriously thinking to put all my money in only 1 project I think is very good which curretly is in the top 40 of altcoins. I don't want to say the name because my topic wants to be very general: what do you think is the risk  by doing so? Should I invest in 2 or 3 coins instead?

Thanks
It is a very risky strategy you are making mate. There is an advise from experts on not to put all your eggs in one basket because if that coin fail then all your money will be gone. Spread your portfolio as much as you can.

It depends on how much money are you going to put in there.. If you only have $10000 and you are going to put i all in there, then you need to be 100% safe that this coin is going to rise, otherwise you are going to lose a lot of money, maybe all the money that you invested in there.

If you really like some project, you believe in it, do not invest money there. Need an objective analysis and no feelings. Those who are guided by feelings will lose their money.
You are a clever guy no doubt for you are asking before investing. This is an extremely irrational decision to invest your whole money in Alt. One should always keep the diversity in ones portfolio. This help sharing the loss if the value of a particular asset goes down. The rest of the money invested in other assets simply either stay at the initial position or rises. There should always be the element of diversification in your portfolio,

If I had such a budget I would have invested it in a few altcoins. Ones of them I would hold for a long time, others - I would sell, and invest in next. For me, this is the best option.

Yes, it is too risky, just don't bet your money in one altcoin, you might never know when it will take a dip or shutdown, keep in mind that there are a lot of altcoins out there in which you can invest that are considered a long term investment, just make sure you know how to choose them and choose wisely. You should also learn hoe to diversify your money, so that in any case one coin is down and the rest is up, you can see that you are gaining or breaking even, but for sure you can prevent further loss and also one of the basics of investing is no to put your eggs in one basket, you should've study it first, since there is no magical coin that is a guarantee that will beat the value bitcoin, most coins still need to prove themselves and all of them have a long way to go and do not just give in to a hype of a coin.

Whenever I trust an alt-coin and think that it could go higher than it is I always put all of my extra money in it.
You should only invest what you could afford to lose and you should really study the market you shouldn't fall for the coins that are getting pump because the next thing that could happen is it could fall down easily.

It's not good to put all your money into one coin. Diversification between 2-3 coins is better. This will reduce the risk of losing all funds. On the other hand, investment in btc or eth is quite safe and there is a high probability of a good profit in long term.
It is not bad to put all the investment money at just one place only if that coin has the most potential to grow and has already demonstrated its capabilities. I won’t mind spending the whole amount in bitcoin. But that requires some guts and trust too which is only possible if the investor has done some good research on this topic. Otherwise, holding the top altcoins is a good option.

It's too bad this thread was started in December. The markets have been hard and that probably means that what the OP had are less than the $500 that he started with.

Of course, keeping all the money in one asset is a big risk. I know some guys who had $ 500-1000. They invested in different projects for $ 10-20. This is the real diversification! Grin

Risky because you might lose everything if you will not succeed with it. Better to diversify your money to other altcoins so that you can have a place to gain back what you lost in the other coin.

If you want to stay safe and 2x your investment, invest in eth, if you want to also stay safe but 20x your investment this year then invest in blockport (bpt)
of course for immediate benefits can be suggested, I suggest to invest in large quantities as intial capital if you want to invest in ethereum. because for the profit is also much obtained when the price rises slightly

Obviously that putting all your money on ethereum or bitcoin is not risky, but if you put all your money on a single altcoin that is a low cap coin, you are risking a lot, maybe you are taking too much risk for a single coin.

This is too risky. Divide your money and choose a coins that has a capacity to grow 3x  after a month. Choose 3 or more coins and make a research if it has a good background and many people invest in it too.

Yes it is, aside from Bitcoin it is, so if you want more opportunity that your money will bloom as it could then try to divide your money into different coins as you said make list from what you saw on exchange.

Absolutely hell YES. Never put all eggs in one basket. If it's top 10, BTC, ETH then you have a bigger chance not to loose your money, but if it's altcoins, even dont think about it. Just seek for promissing projects with low price, like 0,01 - 0.1 per token. And your portfolio should be diverse. 500 dollars is not much, and not a little. Information above, about separation investment into parts, most of it investing in the top 10, and the rest in different altcoins is the most win-win in my opinion.

Ye, it's risky. But I read mention that diversification is way to safe money but not to profit. If I spent enough time for investigation and do not use russian roulette it will an excellent investment. Not risk

it's logical that I'm already on this planet, but it's not worth it to be involved in multiple projects with such a low budget.

If you are 100% sure and if some form of force majeure is ready to wait a long time then you can humiliate. I think the best half is in a coin of the top 40, and the other half in a new and promising coin in their opinion.

If it's invested in a single altcoin other than Bitcoins, then it's super risky. If it were invested only in Bitcoins then I
wouldn't bother commenting if it's risky or not. There must be significant reason for attempting to culminate in such
a thing, the market is too volatile to leave things to chance or luck, you must research before deciding where and
what to invest in. Diversification of you $500 would be better than placing it all in a single altcoin. Try investing on
the stronger coins to improve your chances of profit in the future.
