I've been reading through this forums for the past few weeks and all I see is "this coin is dead" or "everything is a shit coin". Is there any alt coin with potential to invest in or is it only bitcoin? I don't mean like a few here and there, I mean over 100 coins.

There are a lot of coins that have a good potential for investing. This is for example ethereum, nem, neo and ripple. In the long run, all these currencies will grow in value. 
Hodling longterm: DeepOnion, Neo, OMG, IOTA 
LTC has a lot of great news in this year, I think you would like it. Also now is good XLM, much better than XRP. And of course you should buy some EOS and ICX, brothers of ETH
I think NEO will be great coin in 2018, Because NEO improves on Ethereum’s algorithm, making it more efficient and secure.

This is impossible because there is a very large amount of work. And if a person is still somewhere studying or working, then he definitely will not have enough strength for such research. You can't check all altcoins obviously, there are more than thousand altcoins in the market. Sometimes you hear from someone and start researching it, sometimes you randomly check coins -mostly undervalued ones- and try to find a gem there. Sometimes you found a good coin and realize it was way too cheaper and you were late to the party. I bought NEO at 30 USD because I thought it was still undervalued. I was right, but I wasn't the first one who found that coin.

I have asked this question also. I did the such researches in forum and by google. You're right, there are some dead coins that you won't get anything in them. To my mind, if you really did your research there some altcoins that you can earn but they are not a lot. There are altcoins that are increasingly growing out in the market so you need to check which ones suits you. You just need patience some of the altcoin increase and decrease over time. So its really up to you if you want to invest coins that is low now and wait until it goes up in the future or you can invest in coins that is in the highest peak and just wait until it drops down then you can buy it, then wait until it goes up. All of it is, really, up to you.
CanYa is worth looking into. It has an excellent team, a working product released in Australia. And in March it will get released worldwide.

It was novemeber and december when I decided to buy TRX at 230 sats. At first I am just panicking and all stuff like that. But after doing some research and also following Justin Sun on twitter after few weeks I am surprised that it continues to pump. My .006 btc became .01 btc hahahah and when TRX prices 2000 sats my btc value is now .02 btc I sell them all and from .006 to .02 BTC now. I told to my self I will invest more on altcoins now trx price diped I buy it again hahaha.

Ethereum is the good one to invest. It is low as of now but can gradually increase. There is always a second option of bitcoin.
