Your friendly neighborhood Crypter.
If you don't want to wait for old wallet to sync (takes a while) then you can simply save your old "wallet.dat" and replace this file in your new wallet.
I tried that already but it still didn't work.  My old wallet is saying 86 weeks behind.  Maybe it's a blockchain issue or something.  Is there something else I can do?

Your friendly neighborhood Crypter.
Hey guys I have some NYCoins in my old wallet and I tried to transfer some coins to my new wallet.  But the transaction is unconfirmed, and my old wallet is not syncing.  I just wanna get my old wallet syncing so I can transfer my coins to my new wallet.  If someone can help?   Huh

haha you guys know that pool mining uses 'getblocktemplate' internally to generate work?
love these noobs!

by default if you don't specify a coinbase address to cpuminer/sgminer/bfgminer, it will default to getwork.
getwork was removed in late litecoin 0.9 codebase..

From NYC developer:

for getblocktemplate to work properly, you must specify '--coinbase-addr address' to bfgminer..

--coinbase-addr newyorkcoinaddress

I went back and tried both cgminer and bfgminer with this new wallet, neither could contact it. This is on the same machine with the same config file as the old wallet. What's worse is the two of them see different block heights. Something seriously ffed up with this new wallet at least it seems that way to me.

Can it be that this crappy network has anything to do with Upnp Portmapping is disabled?
https://github.com/newyorkcoinfoundation/nycoin/blob/master/doc/build-unix.md#miniupnpc

Now why would they do that. Is that not critical?

I am mining with BFGMiner, latest version that works with every coin on earth pretty much but not that new wallet version apparently.

From NYC developer:

User is referring to solo-mining via the getwork interface which was deprecated some time back.
True solo-mining is available still via getblocktemplate (bfgminer supports this with scrypt asic's still); however separate software is required to do stratum mining (this is the traditional pool approach).

While I can appreciate people are trying to rejuvenate this coin, that's great, we need to recognize certain functions such as solo mining must work. This coin is not able to function without solo mining. Pools cannot be counted upon to move the chain. I get intermittent response only from that new pool.

While I only have one connection I was able to send a test transaction through to Coingather so that is a good thing.

I would be happy to use the new wallet but not until it works with solo mining, and it seems others have had the same problem as I noticed someone else commenting on that as well.

I am back on the old wallet, completed a rescan, and have resumed solo mining. I am still curious how many connections others are seeing.

Has anyone been able to do solo mining on the new wallet?

I seem to only ever get one working connection on this wallet. How many are other people seeing?

This was a working coin in all facets until this new wallet came out. Now it seems to be a mess. Can't mine solo on the new wallet. New wallet ffs the old blocks so have to rescan to go back to the old wallet. And there seems to be next to no connections. What a mess. I think everyone should go back to the old wallet until that new one is fixed, at least it worked.

We need some working nodes.

Any NYC wallet should work before upcoming fork to reduce block reward. If you find one better than another for your intended purpose, please feel free to use whichever you prefer.

The new wallet does not seem to work for solo mining at all. Serious downgrade from my point of view. It worked flawlessly before and would rather go back to the old wallet. What has changed the break solo mining?

NEW YORK COIN COMMUNITY INITIATIVE - PLEASE VOTE HERE

Does the NYC Community want to implement an automatic 1% donation of all NYC transactions to an FDNY charity fund?

It may be able to be written into upcoming fork code. I will discuss with dev. If not, block explorer can be used to calculate 1% on a monthly basis.

The NYC Community would need to come together and reach into their pockets to donate/pledge enough NYC to make sure we have enough NYC to fulfil this commitment. Max donation pledge total of 1b NYC.

NEW YORK COIN FOUNDATION hereby pledges 250 M NYC for this initiative. We need a total further pledge of 750 M NYC in order to implement this amazing ongoing donation fund to New York's Bravest!

I agree! But do not leave the community, even with difficulties.

Me too I agree! Wink
