I wish I could have posted this in a more better place but since the thoughts came from gambling addiction, I thought it wise to ask this question over here and I hope we can discuss and get this straight.

Just as the tittle already ask, I really want to know if people who are successful in gambling also seen as addicts because I believe  for one to be successful in gambling or whatever they choose to do, there must be some good amount  of time and effort invested in it as well as money and we know that a successful  gambler must have invested  both time, effort and even money to make any reasonable  winning  and these also are features of an addict as there are always excessive time spent on a betting site.

Now let's be sincere, will you also classify a successful gambler as an addict?

Before this question would be answered we need to agree on our definition of a successful gambler. Now the question is, who is a successful gambler? If we know this, we will examine whether successful gamblers can be called addicts.

Who is a successful gambler
  • Someone who does nothing else to earn a living apart from gambling
  • Someone who has more wins than losses in gambling
  • Someone who regulates himself, and knows when to gamble and when to stop gambling
  • Someone who has spent good number of years in gambling and still gambling
  • Any other definition of yourself?
We can take it up from here, once I have a reply.
Many people can relate to being a successful gambler in different ways. But in my opinion successful gamblers are those who have good gambling experience and use that experience to get positive results in their gambling. Hence only those who win more in gambling I would not say that they are successful gamblers but a successful gambler can make relatively good decisions. He can stop if necessary. He gets positive results in applying his techniques. Successful gamblers are those who can take active risks with long-term good decision-making and, above all, maintain a profitable position.

Controlling one's excessive greed is very difficult, those who can control their excessive greed lose less amount of money in gambling. Be it a profit or a loss then we should take a break but we don't at that time we take another big decision without thinking and that decision becomes the main reason of losing our money. If I win a big amount of money in a gamble then my brain will encourage me to gamble more and at that time it is difficult for me to make the right decision but without considering these things if the decision to gamble is not made then the outcome is more likely to go against us. Every one of us who are gamblers should make a decision to gamble with conscience because it is not written to gamble again after making profit or loss and there is enough time to gamble so we should take the next decision with time.

Yes, our brains are used to process the world like that.

If we obtained a very favorable outcome, say winning while gambling, then we immediately want to do it again.

That's one of the reasons why the casinos are so wealthy, and the gamblers so poor. It's all designed to use our brain against us.
If it wasnt really that profitable then we arent really seeing any casinos as of this moment but since we are seeing the opposite then it does really indicate that this is really indeed a profitable business.
You cant really just that make yourself that able to avoid to play up even more on the time that you are winning, emotions and specially greed would kick in on which it would really be causing for you to play further and this is something that would really be just that so normal. Thing here is that you should really be setting out those kind of limits and moderation specially when it comes to finances because if you do make yourself that being impulsive or being that careless, then you would definitely be putting up yourself on such big trouble.

It is not possible to become addicted to gambling but gain from gambling. When a gambler is too addicted to gambling, he makes more wrong decisions than right ones, causing him to lose money instead of making money. A gambler who is addicted to gambling may not earn money by gambling, but when he is out of gambling addiction, he can gain from gambling by making the right decision. I was addicted to gambling at one time and I realized that it took me a long time to get out of gambling addiction and I was able to get out. During the time when I was addicted to gambling, I used to make more wrong decisions in gambling but when I came out of this addiction, many wins came in my favor through the right decisions. I said from my opinion that as long as a gambler is addicted to gambling he cannot make a profit.
A gambling addict can also win, but that will not stop him from gambling. There is even a possibility that he feels that he has received additional capital to gamble longer, so he will continue gambling. It is very difficult to realize that someone is addicted to gambling, but you can get out of gambling even though it takes a long time. But when we compare them with successful gamblers, they are not gambling addicts who gamble continuously because successful gamblers know how to use gambling and do not consider it as a place to make money or want to gamble for a long time. They have many things that most gamblers don't have, and they also know when they gamble and when they stop gambling. And it is true that a gambler who is addicted to gambling will often make wrong decisions, and that is different from successful gamblers in making decisions where successful gamblers can make good use of their time in gambling so that they can get out on time.

Well first of all , gambling addicts will not quit in gambling whether he wins or loses in gambling, isn't it ? If a gambler wins in gambling then no one will call him addicted even if he is doing excessive gambling or irresponsible gambling. The reason is that once the money is coming to a person no one will considered it bad and no one will try to find the source of that money whether it is true responsible gambling or irresponsible gambling.

Also think for a second that a person is doing excessive gambling and he is winning a lot of money and then suddenly you come up and told tell him that you are addicted and you should stop gambling then what he will do ?
he will just laugh at you and ask you to go away because he doesn't want to stop his income source.

It is very difficult to be successful with gambling because of the small chances of winning and the high risk of being a spur in gambling. maybe strong luck can make someone successful with gambling, but however do not force yourself to be successful with gambling because this is just a means of entertainment not a means of making money to support someone's daily life.
Moreover, there are no gamblers who are truly successful, most people force themselves to be successful at gambling, even though they will never get it even if they gamble all the time or say become an addict, we should know that gambling should only be used as entertainment as a place to find money. pleasure is not a place to seek success or wealth.

I saw an addict who spent his time gambling, they really didn't feel successful, in fact they spent their money all the time when they gambled, so it's impossible to say that a successful gambler is an addict because that's very impossible, but actually successful or not successful. At least gambling should be able to be enjoyed without having to achieve the winning target you want to achieve.
I sometimes still think with title of this thread why gambling considered a success and some people take this seriously whereas gambling just a place provided to bet with little money to enjoy the games we want to have fun but why do people think that gambling can be successful ?
So I agree with you that gambling addicts are just  bad effects excessive gambling and cannot be considered success unless the gambling company  built to be bigger and I will admit that is what called success.

Well, success is measured in many different ways, and I have given that in the thread, the things they think and everything how they express it because of their way of thinking is good, but personally I am a bit more direct, for For me, a person who considers himself successful is someone who always wins every day at the casino, that is, if he plays for 1 hour today and comes out with a positive balance, well, if he plays 3 times a day and comes out with profits, it seems to me that he is a similar success, But if it is measured in weeks or months that the general balance of the person in the game is positive balance, for me he is a successful person in the casino, for me there is no other definition of a successful person except for him to play and win, of The rest is an average player who probably has wins and losses where losses predominate, that is for me a normal player, of course it sounds a bit eo, because up to that point I include myself too, but just as in tading there are successful people doing it, too In the casino there must be very lucky people who always win.

In another order of ideas, we can meet people who can spend all day in a casino gambling and when we go to the casino they are always there, and well it is something that seems quite strange to us because it is something that is not very common, however when we We review things well, those types of people play throughout the day, sometimes they win, other times they lose, but I know that they are in a casino all day and they win, but they are there all day long, I wouldn't call them addicts, because addicted gamblers They usually lose and that is something that is not considered a success but quite the opposite, so in this type of thing we must be very emphatic and say things like they mean, if I am in a casino all day I leave without money If I can consider myself addicted because it is something that I always lose, I don't bring good results and that is a bad thing, that will eventually bring me problems and that is what we want to avoid.

So if you think like that, is it possible that there are people who are always lucky in every gambling, with the fact that they often play 3 times a day and always win? if I think that people who have luck in gambling will also not get a continuous victory, there are times when they lose and go home with negative results, or people who get a big win but only once can be called hockey? If there are people who always win at every game and always go home with a positive balance, they are very lucky. because surely the winnings they get exceed the capital they deposit. and if that's the case, does he have a trick to always get a win at gambling? so he can always get a win.

someone who is in the casino all day doesn't mean they are addicted, they could just be watching. but if they are just watching I don't think it's possible either, of course they bring a certain amount of money to bet by trying their luck, winning or losing is no one can predict if in gambling because it is difficult to make sure the victory will be easy to get. because gambling also has a random system, I've read in another tread that someone said, "the chances of winning in physical casino gambling are greater, than online gambling". whether that's true or not, what do you think?

I consider that things when it comes to doing better things in casinos, it may be that a person is in the casino all day, looking, playing, but you have to see both things, if you are in a casino just looking, you will Your time is up, you just don't take risks, you don't lose anything, you just watch the game, I don't think you are learning strategies, or maybe, swi, if so, because the techniques in the casinos, in their games, are very few , and that is learned quickly, in addition, I consider that a person's playing time in a casino should be brief, if he won, then he won, if he lost, then accept and accept defeat, in this sense things can be like that, and not there is a need to play all day, now if the person makes small bets throughout the day, well that is something else, everything changes, of course this is something that depends on the people, I actually like to play in a casino, I enjoy the time I spend there and I can dearly believe that it is pleasant. I compare it when I go to the soccer stadium to see my favorite team, or my national team, because it is like entering another world, and you have to enjoy that.

Now, if the person likes something else, like socializing, the atmosphere, the music that the casino offers, then that is another thing, and that is something that the person enjoys as such and it does not mean that he is an addict and That also means that it is something normal, maybe it is like that, but I think that when it comes to doing more the moments in the casinos should be brief, if you play longer term I don't think you are going to win more, We must always remember the advantage of this as it is a fact, now, between the traditional casinos and the online ones, is that physical casinos are not going to require any KYC and that is something that sounds like a great advantage and something that does not It will make you angry, because the money is instantaneous that they will give it to you, on the other hand, the disadvantage that online casinos have is that you can play from home in peace, but I think that to win more or less in some cases, for me the possibilities are the same.

In my opinion, gambling addiction has nothing to do with the success of the gambler. Based on the mathematical analysis of gambling in the long term almost every gambler will lose to the casino or bookmaker. What success are you talking about? We are all well aware that gambling is not a job, which means in this area will not be able to earn consistently. Today you are successful, and tomorrow you lose everything. Or am I wrong?
Successful gamblers are never addicted to gambling because they are always patient and keep gambling patiently without panicking and do not gamble for a long time together, gamble with a break and cool and withdraw immediately if they get a big win. Because they know very well that if they keep gambling like that, they will eventually lose them all. And panic gamblers always want to get rich quickly, which is why they quickly exhaust their gambling budget by placing high-amount single bets and re-deposit.  In this way they suffer huge losses financially and they can never be successful
I think I agree absolutely with @coinerer that there are actually successful gamblers and frankly I’ve seen a professional gambler ie. someone who gambles as a profession without any remorse and then he believes life isn’t fair and you shouldn’t expect a fair life from gambling, hence we should only gamble what we can afford to lose and one funny thing about the guy is that he said “I stake a game carefully like my life depends on it but yet I act like I already lost the game “ with all this been said, there are successful gamblers but just like every other profession, nothing good comes easy.

Skills and luck combine, but that mindset that he's not expecting, but he's leaning on it, there's a gambler who can balance their emotions and so good in terms of money management. They allow things accordingly, and they assess where to get that opportunity, then grab it to make sure that they can convert something good with their skills.

Successful gamblers who use the venue to make money are not usual, only few who can manage. That's why we are still seeing more and more gambling sites that offer decent bonuses, as the amount that they use for it is just a dust of the money that they can earn if there are many gamblers that use their services.

A successful gambler does not have to be an addict while not all addicted gamblers were not being successful, the target is on oneself, how do we see gambling and what are the way we make use of each time we are at it again gambling, we don't also have to always win before being a successful gambler, the way we got satisfied and contempted with gambling style we have adopted is enough to make us successful in gambling.

I think the extremely small minority of people who end up winning more than losing in a casino have to be extremely lucky but also extremely diligent with their gambling.

If you continue gambling when you won big, you will probably end up losing it all anyway.

So, any addicted gambler will probably end up losing everything.

We must agreed for one thing in life that is "sacrifices"
Yes certainly before someone or something must yield a meaningful results it is assumed that such person or groups of people has put in an unending effort being sacrifices and when they becomes successful we all turned out to call them all manners of names that could leads to something like "such person is a gamble addicts or such person sold his car to gamble, probably he sold their property" yes all these are called sacrifices while the other way round we can say it's an addict. Bit truth be told successful gambling aren't easy to emerge because of how difficulty it's have winning knowing too well that gamble is a game of probability or luck based game.

No matter what the outcome of the game will be, selling off property to gamble is not a good decision to make. Even in investing in something, if we want to invest our money in anything, I won't even give anyone advice to sell their property and invest in anything, talk more about something like gambling.

What if they are unable to win the game in which they sell their property to play? What will be their faith in life? We know there is sacrifice to be made in order to achieve greatness, but there are also some that are considered very risky, and it's not worth the risk and could be considered a bad decision in the eyes of others.

If the person invests his time in the game in order to make a good prediction, that alone is sacrifice, and they don't need to sell or borrow funds from anywhere else to make the bet or before it could be considered a sacrifice.

You are referring to games where skill is a key factor and those are the best examples to confirm my little idea, but I'm sure that there are other games not so based on skills which can be profitable for a few innovators who think out of the box. The most evident case would be those influencers who make recurrent earnings gambling in games based on pure luck, but there must be other cases too, maybe secret, maybe undiscovered yet, only reachable for the sharpest minds.

It would be an interesting topic for another thread, but let's get back on topic and I will finish my contribution answering to the question in the title  that no, in my opinion successful gamblers are not seen as addicts, or at least I don't see them like that.

The skills was the key factor to make the winnings from the gambling site, because now gambling site also launching the skill based games. The gamblers who doing their games over few years will know the fact, gambling sites allow us to make win based on the skill on the particular game.Only the new people opinion was the gambling was purely based on the luck, but the gambling also based on the skills. If the gamblers look on the poker game, the techniques should be used to show the cards at the earliest stage.

The successful gamblers is not the gambling addicted person, they are the inspirational story for the new gamblers to the site. They also influence the more new gamblers to the gambling site, some of the new gamblers will follow the steps of successful gamblers in their gambling play.

Well, I would like to add a little idea here, and it is that some people get really obsessed about different activities, and some of them can eventually master them. I'm not talking about the addict who keeps spending in the hope of winning someday a big jackpot that compensates previous losses (which is very unlikely), but about the professionals who are willing to learn maths, statistics, marketing and/or other disciplines that will help them succeed, even against the tide.

There are people who are obsessed to learn more about the game that they are playing, they will do everything to succeed and once they did that
it can be use as advantage, we tag those people as expert gamblers.

They manage to study things that will give them that edge against their opponents, card games like poker is an example of this game.

Experienced players use that advantage to read people's body movements even facial expressions, things that may add up on how they
will deal their cards and most of the time they manage to win.

You are referring to games where skill is a key factor and those are the best examples to confirm my little idea, but I'm sure that there are other games not so based on skills which can be profitable for a few innovators who think out of the box. I wish I could have posted this in a more better place but since the thoughts came from gambling addiction, I thought it wise to ask this question over here and I hope we can discuss and get this straight.

We can take it up from here, once I have a reply.

A successful gambler is rarely considered as addicted they are not fully addicted they have enough experience that they win gambling games and fall under the category of successful gamblers. Gamblers who cannot sustain success after winning become greedy and become addicted. Successful gamblers know enough about how to protect their funds. Gambling has been involved for a long time and their practice is very good. At the end of the day they are successful gamblers and do not have addiction problems due to proper practice.
It could be that successful gamblers do not experience addiction because they have experience in how to overcome addiction, which can come at any time. A successful gambler knows what to do when he has been gambling for a long time and he will choose to stop gambling rather than lose his money.
This is what differentiates successful gamblers from most gamblers because successful gamblers can overcome everything that would have a bad impact on them. They have more experience than most gamblers so they can decide what to do.

Honestly, I wouldn't say they are successful gamblers, because clearly success is more  directed towards success in achieving something at the end point, while in gambling everything will return to the beginning  when the session you have done is finished and you find the answer between winning/losing, here I will rather calling them intelligent gamblers, none other than all the ways they have that they get from  an experience in their gambling involvement and all of that they get from a condition that makes them feel bad - like maybe losing with a large amount that they can make it a lesson and finally now they can find and implement a better way so as not to get stuck in the same hole.

Smart gamblers are obviously very different from regular gamblers especially beginners who are just getting involved or with those who are always aggressive in their gambling, I think the difference is in terms of experience and way of thinking and you have said it above. That means that gamblers who are now beginners still have the opportunity to become smart gamblers like the main object we are discussing here, but it all comes back to them if they just can't think well and are not one of  the people who are willing to learn from experience for a change then obviously they will not be able to become smart gamblers to stay safe..

Moreover, successful gamblers cannot be linked to gambling addiction. Usually people who are successful and rich at gambling always consider gambling to be just entertainment, so that when they succeed in winning big they consider it just a bonus, but on the other hand, in the view of poor gamblers, it is usually a win. It will be considered a great success, it all depends on how each person views it.

An addicted gambler can rarely be successful. Successful people who gamble are careful with their time and disciplined with their money as well. They know how to manage their time, money and emotions well so they don’t get sucked into the moment and gamble away most or all of their money.
Addicts are barely successful(financially or otherwise) and a gambling addict isn’t far off.

Even though you group two different types of gamblers, you need to know that both do not lead to anticipated losses because successful gamblers also experience bigger losses because they are always active in gambling, gambling is related to probability and luck which is closely related to the risk of loss and the more bets, the higher the losses, so change your mindset that gambling is not for chasing daily income but only for gambling for entertainment, avoid gambling addiction by limiting the funds used for gambling and choosing a type of gambling that has a chance of being won rather than slot gambling.
Every category of gamblers experience losses in one way or the other except they stop gambling els you can't be too smarter than the casino no matter how good you are or no matter how experienced you are with the casino, you must definitely suffer losses at some point but if you try to be too smart you may even suffer worse than expected.

Gambling shouldn't be seen as a place where you can get daily income as you may be disappointed by the possible outcome if you Chanel your mind in that direction, this will most likely make you chase losses because in a bid to get something out of gambling daily you may turn out to loose some money and not willing to accept such losses you will want to keep playing maybe you could be lucky to recover and gradually addiction creeps in and you get a second problem to deal with again.

If you look at it that way, it's a must to have everything. I mean it will be a combination of your skills and good self or emotional control. Being wise about knowing where to stop is always the best attitude when you are involved in this kind of industry. I see the point where gamblers do have that mindset that they can win, and they can make decent profits when playing / betting.

It's a kind of adrenaline that keeps on lingering inside you that you can have that chance to win over. If you can control that, it will lead you to a bad gambling habit or much known as addiction.

There is no other skill in gambling other than self-control and money management skills. Every other possibility or probability skill relies on luck. The self control and money management skill is on the gambler's decision. Professional gamblers who spend much time gambling, limit the time and money spent on gambling and don't lose control over changing their decision when they're losing or winning. However, some will spend more time if they win more money from the money limited to gambling. For instance, if a gambler wants to gamble with $200 for 2 days, he'll gamble $100 per day, hence allocating at least 5 hours each day for gambling. They'll have to play the game bit by bit until it gets to 5 hours. If eventually the gambler wins an extra $50, he can gamble more with the $50 he's won. Which won't affect his decision to gamble for two days. it'll only shift the 5 hours meant for gambling each day to at least an extra 2 hours making it 7 hours. When the money is exhausted, they'll stop gambling for the day. Because they're not there for the profits, the player doesn't care about those wins. He only gets happy because it'll buy him more time to gamble. I think it's what makes a successful gambler different from irresponsible gamblers, who will gamble more than the $200 set aside for gambling, in the adventure of making more wins.
