My antrouter R1 only runs on a 10 Mbit/s connection? Is my antrouter already defective or can I change the settings?

Eyeboot asked last year if I'd be interested in designing a new router style device better than the R1. It's an interesting idea, but I've had a lot of other stuff going on. This year should be good for new projects. Who knows, might get around to a better mining router later on, one where the miner part is upgradeable.

Yeah. The sides of these things are actually aluminum (I always thought they were plastic) and the side has a heatsink protruding directly onto the chip (with some paste in-between of course).

I’ve been away from these parts for a few years. Cool to see the evolution of the Pac products. I miss my little sticks.

BM1384 was also the S5, S5+ chip. 5.5GH I believe is 100MHz clocked, but with adequate power and cooling the chip could do 400MHz/22GH. Because of the non-linear relationship between speed and power (a higher speed requires a higher voltage because more energy is needed to flip the switches faster, but a higher voltage will also push a higher current into the switches' capacitive gate loads and resistive transition loads, so the effect multiplies), quadrupling the speed to the max would cause a more than quadruple increase in power, from under 2 watts to above 10 watts at the chip.

UPDATE: I had a non-functional unit so decided to pull it open. This unit uses the BM 1384 chip, same as the GekkoScience 2Pac miners.

I'm curious, then, why the R1 was only rated at around 5.5 GH/s - did they underclock them to keep heat down?

Depends on the voltage standard in your area. If it's "only" drawing 24 watts that means you're running it in 120V North America. In other places that use 220V like Europe it's going to take 44W.

If this was the case, why would anyone use 220v over 110v, you pay your electrical bill based on the KwH consumption which is directly related to the wattage, it would be cheaper to get a step-down transformer and run everything at the lowest voltage possible.

As Haqqs mentioned, electrical engineering is complicated, electricity consumption on the other hand is rather simple, if it says 1000w on the label and assuming it's accurate, it will always print 1000w on your meter regardless of the voltage, the voltage will affect the amps (lower voltage = higher amps).

But if you are interested in calculating the amps (which is pretty irrelevant for this case) I = W / V where I is the current in amps, W is the wattage and V is the voltage, so if something consumes 220w on a 220v circuit, it will draw 1 amp, if you run it on a 110v it will draw 2 amps (220/110 = 2), but of course this is sort of oversimplifying the subject to give you the general idea.

The input current they list is the max. input current for lowest allowed input voltage, so for 100V.
So the nominal power from the wall is about 20W.

In 230V systems the current is lower, close to about 0.1A.

Just to get things straight, to get the current drawn from a specific voltage like 120V, I multiply this max input current * the lowest voltage and then divide that by whatever voltage I'm working with?

e.g. 0.2A*100V/230V

The Anrtouter R1 draws 0.2A. So Power (W) = current * voltage = 24W for 120V and 44 for 220V.

Does any one, by any chance have the 'option freq' range
for the Antrouter R1-LTC ?!

all i have in the cgminer.conf is:
option freq '600:300:0b83'

and ofcoz is different than the R1-BTC chips...
it has a B1485 inside for LTC/Scrypt.

would be nice to run this one a little bit faster aswell.   Cheesy

Desculpem mas eu não falo inglês mas gostaria muito da ajuda de vocês.
Queria ter certeza se tem ou não chance de conectar o R1 a uma pool diferente da antpool.com.
Vi que ele vem configurado para minerar solo, e isso é perda de tempo. Na verdade eu gostaria de conectar ele a MinerGate. Alguem sabe me dizer se isso é possível?

The chance someone will hit a block is to small, also the stock software will not let u know, I even think you never know you hit it.


doesnt it? the antminer UI has a "foundblocks" column (at least on most of the miners) where it would indicate if you had any success.  that said, if "solomining" through antpool it might not function correctly.

also, it only records that stat for its uptime. if it finds a block, and later the miner restarts itself, it will drop the stat back to '0'
"foundblocks" column will never change, even if you find a block, sorry.

If you have this small little miner, you need to use the alternative Software Eyeboot or Crazyguy created. I suggest to mine Peercoin solo, hitting a peercoijn block is not impossible, of corse and enjoy the wireless accespoint.

Hi All,

I have recently acquired an Antrouter R1 and an Antminer U3. I am however confused about setting it up. I have my bitmain account filled in under the R1 settings and I can see it doing it's thing in the Antpool. The thing is what should I do with the settings for the U3? I found the stratum+tcp://stratum.antpool.com:3333 settings for Pool 1 etc, but what should I put for Pool(x) Worker ? I tried different things but I never see anything happening on the statistics page or on the Antpool webpage. Or should I join another pool with the U3, I'm a complete noob regarding the whole mining thing. I do understand that this setup will not make me any money, but I got it very cheap and I'm trying to learn.

I think you are supposed to put in your antpool username? Have you asked antpool/bitmain for some clarification on the matter.

this. plus the way the stock software uses your email to log into the pool they might not even let you know and keep the bitcoin...
since you arent actually solo mining with them, you are mining on a pool and they keep the bitcoin they make and hope nobody gets a block so they dont ever have to payout.



the whole thing seems sketchy.
