Why is Manny Pacquiao still fighting? I am sure that he has earned enough to retire with over 60 boxing fights and a previous champion. I would not risk it if I was in his position and he risks losing his impressive record because he will not be as good as he was in his prime.

If you look at his training and look at his previous fights you will see that his speed is still the same and never have depleted, his strength is still the same and you can surely see from his latest training, so if you are wondering how he does it at his age when boxer like Mayweather has already retired, that is because even though on his hectic schedule on his family and his work as a public servant he is still in condition, and have a routine to still exercise inside his home, and he would retire if he would feel that age is getting into him, but as far as I can say he is still on his prime.

Yordenis Ugas is a great boxer, and has good techniques that he can use to pit against top-caliber fighters. The Cuban fighter is also getting old, so I guess this match-up can also be good show of how age doesn't slow down fighters that are exceptionally great on their own. Anyhow, Pacquiao should have just taken his time to look for an opponent that's on his tier or at least close to him and not accept a bout that will not really be satisfying for a lot of people. Pacquiao is perhaps eager to get into a fight before the election campaign period starts in the Philippines and get a paycheck or something.

indeed in this case, Pacquiao must be able to find a balanced opponent, and a Jordanian though not yet said to be balanced when compared to the reputation that has been achieved by Pacquiao. Will we see magic in Pacquiao final boxing ring?
He must be able to deliver a landslide victory, however, Pacquiao stakes lie ahead once he is ready to run for president.

The point of rushing everything before the election might have the big influenced on why Pacquiao takes this fight instead of waiting for a caliber one to face inside the ring.

The pressure of upcoming election push him to take whoever fighter that will provide for him, he's done with all the trainings and conditioning and if he'll wait for some delays, the fight might be moved to a much later time.

He needs to win both for glory and for the money; he needs to have deeper wallet before the election, needs to form leaders as early as now he needs to survey his chance and that thing won't work without expenses Cool Wink

I believe he has an easier fight now, and he still makes money since he is already guaranteed with $5 million USD which has a big equivalent in Philippine money. Gate entrance and PPV could be another source of revenue, so basically, he can take enough money to fund his campaign in the coming election. However, we should also not assume that he can get everything that was reported since he has to pay taxes which I believe 30% from what he will make in the fight, plus, another percentage for his manager.

Nah, I'd say he still the Pacquiao on the ring on the welterweight division at that age. And probably Pacquiao has the advantage on this fight, the speed and punches. If Ugas will not improve his fighting style based on his last fights as seems like he doesn't have a KO power, then that title (super champion) will be taken from him.
There's no doubt about that, the odds are in favor of Manny Pacquiao, and I don't think Ugas being a slow fighter could pressure Pacquiao. This is going to be a fight between a superstar and an amateur fighter, believe me, it will look like that, but people will still be entertain as Manny would win.

Indeed, even if Manny currently has to fight Ugas as an alternative, he wants to immediately focus on his political field. So he will soon end the match with an easy win. In the Philippines he already has a sizable vote, and with 2022 being the first time he officially runs, there should be many generations after he retires.

I would like to correct you, he is already in politics for more than 10 years, and he is gunning for the presidency but he is up against a wall against the daughter of the present president, he needs to win this fight and wins it spectacularly because the boxing community is expecting it, being a heavy favorite and of course he will have a blast for his up coming campaign on what ever position he desires.
He really has a big chance to win this fight but if we talk about winning as a President if he ever he runs for it, that is certainly uncertain.

Well, the people coming from the Philippines and his usual supporters are expecting a winning knockout during this fight. I'm not seeing this as an easy fight for him but probably a full of action and more intense fight. Wishes keep on coming and his experience advantage over Ugas could possible give him the chance to regain his belt once again.

I do agree with you mate. The enthusiasm of many to see Manny fight has gone south due to that Spence injury. High risk for Manny but i don't think that Ugas have a chance to beat Manny. With due respect to Ugas, he is not on Manny's level even if the latter is this old.

Double black eye for Pacman as his supposed mega-fight before retiring is gone while he is abandoning his duty as a Senator in this hard time in the Philippines. I'm pretty sure that no hero's welcome when he goes home lol.

It may not be a hero's welcome but still, he deserves a warm welcome win or lose it could possibly be his last fight he will be busy next year because of the election and if things go on his way in politics he will have to wait in 2023 to fight again, and because of his age things will be very different at that time, and his priority might change, but at least a knock out win and another title is a good way to bid farewell to his career even though not from the top boxer in that division.
^ That is possible to happen and probably the underdog will win on this match, who knows.
But I confidently say that Manny Pacquiao will easily defeat Yordenis Ugas, Manny has trained very well and that was months preparing himself while Ugas only had weeks preparing himself for this match.
Nevertheless, on the other side about Manny Pacquiao's political career, he should give a focus on this, he can't be able to continue his boxing career because his getting old now. Switching into political is a good option.

Definitely a high risk low reward for Manny on this fight. He has nothing to prove on this fight and all his training is focus for Spence. I know that Pacquiao is good but defeating Ugas is not what Pacman looking for a final fight before his retirement. I hope that he already retire after this with a good boxing career record. His political position is already affected by his training so maybe he should focus now on one thing.

Does Manny badly needed money to accept this fight? It's already a pity that he had to fight at his age like what Floyd once said but it's still acceptable since he's facing Spence. I don't see any reason why he had to do this now that he's facing someone not as huge or at least known.
I think he just loves boxing so much he want to entertain us more. Who knows, maybe this will be his last game and we will surely miss him being on the boxing ring again. He will just become another story for us or history in our discussions. I believe he can still do this and much better, win it.
The fight will be on August 21 (night) for other countries while August 22 10AM for GMT+8 countries. This is going to be good. Of course, I will root for Pacquiao but I think I will pass with the bet.

I do hope that you are right on that one - for the love of boxing. He is a politician in the Philippines and he has already missed so many civic duties, "for the love of boxing". One story being told in some gossip halls in this country is that a Pacquiao loss in his match with Spence would affect his political image as well and maybe made a deal with Spence so he can back off then have a lesser known fighter fight Pacquiao. Though a great boxer, he has already been charged with dishonesty by many politicians and even fellow Pastors in the non-Catholic faiths. The reason of the dishonesty is that he was being accused of paying a university to get a faster Political Science course instead of getting the complete 4 year course. He was able to defend himself on that accusation.

In my opinion, it is for the love of boxing. If you will follow the social media channels of his daughters/sons and even his wife, Jinkee, you will know that he doesn't actually need money anymore. They are like billionaires in his home country but they are living a simple life. As what Pacquiao said, he just wants also to fight who is the best in this generation for the love of boxing. You can also feel his true passion on this sports by watching his interviews and work ethics despite of what he has already achieved.

Yes he badly need that fight since he need fundings. He plans to run a presidency so that huge amount of money is a big help for his candidacy. I do hope that he will win this fight since its a big shame to him if Ugas will defeat him since we know his opponent is quite not strong enough and not so exciting to watch. Let see what happen when the fight rolls on and for sure Pacquaio's opponent will do all he can do just to boost up his self since its a huge honor to defeat a legendary fighter like pacman.

There's nothing to be ashamed because this is sport, and upset could always happen. Ugas also has a good record, he has the belt for a reason, so let us not underestimate what he can do, Pacquiao is a heavy favorite in the bookies, but that doesn't mean he is guaranteed to win.

Well we can only see the result once the fight is ongoing but as other says I do agree that this is winnable fight for Pacquaio since he has a lot of advantage. But if Ugas is the lucky winner of this fight then his fighting career will boost up. For sure he will earn a huge respect and he became more famous once he know Pacquaio's butt in the ring. I'm excited to witness this fight and will cast my bet to Pacquaio.

Pacquiao is one of the most known boxers because of his strength I guess base on experience and recently matches we are sure that Manny can handle this game and win but again this is sports anything can happen. There is a lot of rumours that after his last fight there's retirement for him and take serve the country of the Philippines his already a senator and I guess it's too hard to serve if you are fighting for your country too. Well if this match will happen I vote for Pacquiao.

It's ok that Pacquiao still wants to do a professional boxing compare exhibition match. Don't want to see Pacquiao vs Logan Paul, Pacquiao vs some Japanese boxer, etc. That's a trash record for his legacy.

Mayweather should just shut up his mouth if Pacquiao still fighting professionally today. If he likes to become a clown fighting personalities outside boxing, then who's more hungry for money now?

Back to topic, I don't see any upset here for Ugas. I'm not underestimating Ugas but that was a reality.

Hoping that Pacquiao will get his belt again. Because it was his belt and they just sent an email to Ugas to claim that belt. Really hilarious! Pacquiao got the belt from then-unbeaten Thurman and WBA just handed the belt to Ugas just like that. How can he fight during the height of pandemic? Wishing that Pacquiao will win via TKO at early rounds so he can shove it to WBA that he is the real owner of that belt.  Grin

He have high chance to get it back since if we look at the stats pacquaio have more wins as well as power to knock Ugas off the ring but for his opponent its questionable if he can able to defeat the legendary fighter. We know Ugas is the currently holding the belt but for experience for sure Pacquaio will prevail unto this fight. It will be amazing if he can K.O Ugas since we can see more fights if Manny succeed to win this match.

Hopefully he can get a KO, but Manny hasn't KO anyone in the last several years so this might be the case here in this fight on Ugas. But we will love to see Manny win whether by KO or UD, that's what we wanted to see him get the belt that he held back 2 years ago. If Ugas tasted Manny's power though, he might react differently and would just cover up and not really go for the win because he is afraid of Manny's power.

The WBA have demonstrated that they are the most corrupt organization in boxing. They issue more belts than anyone else and they are under threat of losing their ability to sanction fights in the United States. It would be great if some high profile fighters refused to fight for their title until they have cleaned up their act.

To be fair with WBA, it's not the only corrupt organization in boxing, I think WBC is, beginning from the old president Sulaiman and now his son is running it, with many belts just being handled or being created for the purpose of any said fight under its banner.

Yeah, this could be motivation for Pacquiao and go for a killer KO to proved to WBA and get his belt back again.

either who is corrupt or most corrupt yet this is the issue of legalities in which Manny is still on hold. but anyway i don't care if Ugas is temporarily holding the belt because for sure Manny will take this again after the fight.
Manny has a better odds now, I think this could be an easy win for Manny Pacquiao it's just surprising that Spence Jr. backs out when the match is near. I was just curious what will happened to the training of Pacquiao since all his training and strategy was for the preparation for Spence Jr. but now it's different since it's Yordenis Ugas would that be a big impact?
Spence did not backed out but instead there is a issue first that must be taken.

For the record though, he didn't back out on purpose, he back out because he has a injury that was detected during a physical check up routine and it's a dangerous injury that he needs to address through surgery.

Definitely, they have to shift their training regimen to Ugas. Both Manny and coach Freddy has been in the business more many years so for sure they know how to adjust in the last couple of days in their training.
