Does Manny badly needed money to accept this fight? It's already a pity that he had to fight at his age like what Floyd once said but it's still acceptable since he's facing Spence. I don't see any reason why he had to do this now that he's facing someone not as huge or at least known.

Yes he badly need that fight since he need fundings. He plans to run a presidency so that huge amount of money is a big help for his candidacy. I do hope that he will win this fight since its a big shame to him if Ugas will defeat him since we know his opponent is quite not strong enough and not so exciting to watch. Let see what happen when the fight rolls on and for sure Pacquaio's opponent will do all he can do just to boost up his self since its a huge honor to defeat a legendary fighter like pacman.

There's nothing to be ashamed because this is sport, and upset could always happen. Ugas also has a good record, he has the belt for a reason, so let us not underestimate what he can do, Pacquiao is a heavy favorite in the bookies, but that doesn't mean he is guaranteed to win.
It looks like Ugas is more excited and ready to fight Manny and is confident he will win the fight later, and as usual and usually more ambitious opponents will be easy to beat.
especially against Manny who was never afraid to fight younger and taller opponents and Manny was able to beat him well because he was used to it.
Although Ugas has a good record, but Manny's record is much better than him.

Pacquiao was set to fight Spence late this month but because of a retinal tear he had in one of his eyes the fight could not go on which was unavoidable. But Pacquiao got someone else to fight in the form of Yordenis Ugas which could be his last has you all might know that Manny is now into politics and presidential elections are closing in and should he win them this might be the last time we seeing the Philippine.

Pacquiao could cancel the fight if he wants to, but the fans will be more disappointed, what he is doing now is he still want to give us a good fight to watch, and whoever his opponent, we will still see the same Manny Pacquiao that we saw in his previous fight against Thurman, maybe even better as he has a more intense preparation in this fight.

If we want to see a KO, this is probably our chance.
It's not just that, it's the race of age.  Cheesy Manny is getting old and if they could grab an opponent for him as fast as they could it would be a better deal.
Tickets had been sold for the Spence fight (correct me if I am wrong) and then pay-per-views are already bought.
They don't want to put that money in waste to refund it and if they can find an opponent for Manny then so be it. Ready or not, let the match be on schedule.
I think it's both money and entertainment for Manny as he want the Filipino people chanting for his name again and Ugas for retiring him which is big privilege and a good score for his status.

I think you are not getting the picture of what happened.

Why does the blame now turn to Manny? He has a scheduled fight and there's no problem on his side so he will push on it. So basically, you want him to skip the match because his original opponent is not available anymore?

Blame Spence Jr. instead for that as I'm now slowly believing in the rumor that he may think his clean record will now be given dirt if the fight push through.
I am not putting any blame on Manny. I'm trying to find a legitimate reason why he still had to pursue this fight and I can only think of money. He can still pull out of the original deal and wait for Spence to recover like what freedomgo said right? There was already a mention on an upcoming election so that further supports what I was thinking.

Nothing can stop Pacman's scheduled to fight on August 21, another much-anticipated fight.  I just don't know if this is Pacman's last fight, I've heard it before in his previous fight but here it is, his fight with Ugas is approaching.  He said that the intensity and fire that Pacman has not changed even though his opponent is different, he also said that there is no problem if it is right-handed.  He is also excited to recover the WBA.

Many boxers are going to envy Ugas for this fight he is in a position where boxers are only dreaming to happen and that is to fight the 8 division world champion, Manny Pacquiao, the two Garcia Ryan and Mikey are obsessed to fight him and so are the many fighters, Manny ended up with Ugas, I'm sure will give all his best to beat Pacquiao.

Money isn't a problem for Pacquiao anymore. In fact, he's planning to run for a presidential position in the coming election. He's really open and willing to help people who are in need using his own money. I believe that he's just too passionate in everything that he does. He only wants to fill the satisfaction of most boxing fans who are disappointed after Spence backed out.

No, money may not be a problem for him but he still needs money, who would fund it if he runs for president? isn't it coming from his own money? so he has to earn millions of dollars to fund his campaign as he is running the highest office in the Philippines.

The latest interview of Bernard Hopkins makes sense.

BERNARD HOPKINS SUSPICIOUS OF ERROL SPENCE TORN RETINA "I THINK THERE'S MORE TO THE STORY!" EXPLAINS

Spence should provide some proof that his eye was really injured, like an X-Ray result.. AFAIR, he has not provided any, and it should be in public.
As Hopkins said, he respects Spence but the timing is quite fishy.

I'm not sure about this news, it's just an speculation on Bernard Hopkins side.

The eye injury needs to be taken care of (if true) and it was reported that he had a surgery right away. Maybe they deem that it was not necessary to provide the X-ray result. But they have to produce some evidence if he has his eye operated in the next coming days so that there will be no suspicion from the boxing community.

It is definitely not as exciting as the original fight. The name Yordenis Ugas cannot make up for the loss of Errol Spence Jr. in this scheduled match. If I bought a ticket or a pay per view slot for this fight, replacing Spence Jr. with Ugas means taking away a lot of anticipation and excitement but it is what it is. Spence Jr.'s eye injury will come as a priority.

But I am still looking forward to both Pacquiao's performance and how Ugas would step up knowing that he's now facing a legend.

But the fight must push through, things like this happen and cannot be avoided, Pacquiao first title fight in the US is he was a replacement for Ledwaba's title defense, I hope history will not have a bad twist that a replacement for Pacquiao beat him, I have strong faith that Pacquiao will win in probably his last fight.

Thank you for this info bro, I totally forgot that Manny was also a late replacement and made his debut in US soil and bet the hell out of Ledwaba (RIP). And I remember Jim Lampley can't even spell Manny's last name, lol. But that was history.

Hopefully it won't go full circle on Manny if indeed this is his last fight.

Probably they realize that they can't keep up with Manny we can remember what happened to Thurman their stats are pretty much the same but Manny defeat them, it's not surprising since Pacquiao is one of the best boxers in the world.

Since the fight of Manny Pacquiao vs Errol Spence has been cancelled due to the injury of Errol Spence that needs to be treated immediately, we will now si this fight and I think it's also an exciting fight.

I have the same impression of him, the fact of being substituted takes away a lot of emotion, but Pacquiao is another level, for those of us who like contact sports it is always gratifying to see the technique and the enormous preparation that this boxer has. . . Without detracting from UGAS, it can also be his night if he manages to surprise Pacquiao with a good victory, although I see it difficult, in this sport everything is possible.

Perhaps the emotional blow has made many feel upset, but the event is equally promising, in fact the fight I want to see is a rematch with Mayweather, who in my opinion Mayweather practically ran in the ring and won the fight in a very technical way. , I respect what others think, but that's how I see it.

Let's just look at the bright side, at least we will witnessed Manny Pacquiao again, maybe this will be his last fight for all we know, so it's better to see him even if Spence is not his dance partner in this fight.

For sure Ugas will step up in this fight, again, he is the lucky beneficiary of the Spence pull out. But he knows that it will be a difficult fight as he will be facing the legendary Pacman. For sure he will be chin tested and see if it can hold or not against Manny's straight left.
