I still go for Manny. I believe it is not the size of the opponent that counts/matters but the experience, the tactics, the moves and the fighting spirit. I believe money pacquiao have it all. It is just my opinion but i still do respect other’s. Goodluck to both.
If the fight goes to the distance I am 80% positive that Manny will win the fight. Matthysse  should aim for a knockout to seal his victory with no doubts coming from sports analyst and fans. Just like what happened when Marquez fought Manny for the 3rd time and he win, he retired and go back to his country ending the Marquez-Pacquiano trilogy.

The fighting Senator of the Philippines Manny Pacquiao announced that he is fighting this coming June 24 at Malaysia. The possible opponent is Lucas Matthysse the current WBA light welterweight champion.

For those of you who is not familiar with Lucas Matthysse below is his Boxing Record

Total fights - 44
Wins - 39
Wins by KO - 36
Losses - 4
No contests - 1

What we know so far is Freddie Roach has not committed himself yet to train Manny for this fight. Bob Arum is the the promoter for this fight, it will be De la Joya's Golden Boy Promotions and Manny's MP Promotion.

Earlier it known that Manny was asked to be an under card for Jeff Horns fight but Manny rejected the offer. There were also rumors that Manny can't fight in the US like in Las Vegas because he has issues with the IRS "again".

Manny is too old to fight. Don't get me wrong, I love Manny, but he should be retiring and not fighting anymore. He doesn't have it anymore, too much luxury, joining politics, church stuff, etc. He is too preoccupied to even be fighting anyone. He doesn't even train as hard before a fight like he did back then. This will be a clear win for Matthysse, but gambling wise, we'll have to see the odds.

I would have to agree. Judging by the shape of Manny right now, the win might go to Matthysse but the odds may differ when it comes to gambling. A win may be in favor of Manny because he is well-known boxer and many would still want to see him win especially at this time when he haven't been winning or fighting as well as before. Manny may have been a great fighter in the past and he definitely was fast but at his age, it looks like he won't be in good shape anymore.
As a fan, I will still place my bet for Manny even we seen that he's already old for this match and to accept the fact that he is no longer
the same Manny we seen before, but I think a fighter always have the will to win, so I will gamble for him as he still fighting to give us
glory and to stay remembering how good he was as a fighting champs.

Manny Pacquiao switched to the Muslim religion? He was Catholic before was he not? As most of the Philippines are of Christian and Catholic faith. As I last checked it was something like 65-75%.
Wouldn't this affect his political advancements in the polls next election? And even affect him trying to become president of that country next administrative term?
Now this gets more interesting when there's the political topics and discussions enters through the topic.

- Manny isn't switching to Muslim, he's a born again Christian now but it's true that he's a Catholic faith before.
- I also have heard that his planning to run the presidency on 2020 (I'm not sure with the year).
- Let's go back to the topic of discussing about the match.  Smiley
I think this match is made for Manny Pacquiao's political ambition. When he fights almost everyone in the Philippines will see him and remember his name come election time and also the proceed of this fight might be used to fund his election campaign.

Just an update on this fight. The schedule will be moved to July 8 instead of June 24 of this year. Fight will still be held in Kuala Lumpur. According to news articles, Senator Manny rescheduled the fight to give way to the Ramadan or Muslim Festival which will start by May 16 to June 14. World Boxing Association Welterweight title is on the line.
If that's the reason of moving the schedule then Manny Pacquiao is really caring for the Muslim brothers, let's settle down and don't tackle too much with religion. I hope whether he wins or not, he'll retire.

I think you got it wrong mate. He is not switching religion. They are just postponing the fight because they wanted to honor Ramadan. As we all know that they are fighting in a predominantly Muslim nation. So its really the right thing to do as not to anger Muslims in Malaysia. I don't know what his goal though, Maybe he will run for Vice-President or President of the Philippines remains to be seen.

i thought Pacquiao will retire after his previous matches and comparing with Pacquiao statistics matches

Total fights   68
Wins                   59
Wins by KO   38
Losses            7
Draws            2

it's clear that Matthysse have more good to percentages finished rate but this is only just statistics and anything can happen
When it comes to experience Manny do have the edge but if you do try to compare both stats we can able to see which do have good rate when it comes to knock out opponents but same as you said these are just statistics even the experienced ones would possibly be defeated.I havent heard out about Matthysse actually. Its just like it came out from nowhere. Grin If Pacquiao would lose to this fight then its time to retire i guess.

How come he can be retired if his last match defeat is very controversial. Jeff horn victory is not acceptable. I know his opponent a bit and he is a power puncher. The only thing Pacquiao finish is not flawless as him is because Pacquiao always challenging different division and the level of opponent he faced is different when you are on a limited division especially when you just defending a title and also Pacquiao change his religion that's why he has mercy on his opponents unlike when he is on early stage of his career.

I'm sorry though it religion has some factors affecting Pacquiao performance or his body is really experiencing the wear and tear of his boxing career. He is not flawless because there were reports that he wasn't able to concentrate of gives more time on his trading because we all know that he is already a sitting Senator.

However, I still believed that he really won the fight against Horn, although everyone is expecting him to at least KD or KO this guy out but it didn't happened.
Religion and having a position on the senate would be really a great factor which would mainly affect his overall performance which we can really expect that there would such changes unlike before on where he just only going full time with boxing without any jobs involved performance would really be entirely different but well he do already prove himself into the world. Controversial fight is over what ever would be the decision we cant really change it even though we do see whos the winner.

I think Manny Pacquiao is already needed to retired. He will not win this time because he is now old the body becomes weak, he is no longer faster as before.
How sure are you mate?
Senator Manny Pacquiao is still strong until now with the boxing ring he can still fight.
One thing that comes to my mind why he is continued fighting in the ring even he has many holding belts.
All of these just for his political career that wins or lost people of their country will still love him and re-elect for senator when elections come to their place.

For those who love Senator Manny Pacquiao, we would love to see him to retire now while his record is still good, while people still calls him a good fighter. Yes he can still fight, even when he reached 45, I am sure he can still throw a punch and knock out another fighter. But its seeing the pride of the Philippines take punches and maybe knocked out is not a good feeling. As I said we love to see him retire while commentators calls him a good fighter not as a has been.

Ok. I thought that the fight will be postponed. At least if will give them more time to train and at least if the tickets is not sold yet, more people can buy it to bring more money in the table.

We all know that Malaysia is predominantly Muslims and it makes sense for them to honor and not fight during the Ramadan. I commend both camps for their gestures.

Easy brother, they are going to fight in Malaysia and not US so you have to take into account their religious view here. But yeah, win or lose Manny should retire for good, there's no point in fighting anymore. He has the power and the money already.

Well, a lot of rumors on that before but it seems like Pacquiao don’t want to leave the boxing ring without a good finishing touch. This is gonna be a good fight, both is great statistically but who will convert it into a real fight.

I'm not updated with what's happening to the boxing career of Manny but if Freddie Roach doesn't committed himself to train Manny, do you know when he will start training him or Manny will train himself alone with the assistant coach?

Maybe he wants to try or reign in every division in boxing?
MP is an eight division champion so what he really does want? My opinion on this, it's not about the title, it's about the money.

Of course, I believed that everyone is really fighting for the money. Boxing is now a big business. While others still want to fight because of pride. And then some wanted to prove that they still have it. Another classic example is Muhammad Ali. His health is deteriorating that time, but he needed money. And then Dela Hoya-Pacquaio. He wants to proved that Roach is wrong, however, we know what Manny did to him.
Yes, boxing is a big business, MP had enough with the boxing career and now he is ready to retire. He made a lot of big bucks with boxing and he has stable source of money right now. And with the fight of Dela Hoya-Pacquaio I thought that Dela Hoya is that strong but well, still many won.
