Without reading all the other comments in the thread, my first impression after reading the title is Manny Pacquiao should retire and try not to tarnish his legacy in boxing more.

He already did enough for the sport and I assume that he already made enough money to live comfortably for the rest of his life. He is also a senator.

What is he trying to prove?

Manny is too old to fight. Don't get me wrong, I love Manny, but he should be retiring and not fighting anymore. He doesn't have it anymore, too much luxury, joining politics, church stuff, etc. He is too preoccupied to even be fighting anyone. He doesn't even train as hard before a fight like he did back then. This will be a clear win for Matthysse, but gambling wise, we'll have to see the odds.

Well Matthysse is 35 yrs old now and Pacquaio is 39 so I think it's not a big deal after all.

Matthysse is a heavy puncher? What about Pacquaio? - Soft puncher?

Well, age is just a number if they can still fight then so be it and besides if those ages are not qualify anymore both team will not push this through.

Both is a great puncher, as we can see in their records. I think this is gonna be a good fight and hopefully to be a clean one, let’s place our bet on this. 😊

Manny Pacquiao should have retired 3 years ago. He is a sure hall of famer. I don't know why he is risking his life out there in the boxing ring, maybe the fame is the reason. In my opinion, this fight will be used for his political ambition.
He can still fight and we don't know what's rounding on his mind. He's totally rich and he can live the rest of his life with his net worth from boxing alone. Not including other investments that he made and also his salary as a public servant.
I guess this is an interesting fight
Every fight that Manny has been is always interesting.

What we know so far is Freddie Roach has not committed himself yet to train Manny for this fight. Bob Arum is the the promoter for this fight, it will be De la Joya's Golden Boy Promotions and Manny's MP Promotion.

Earlier it known that Manny was asked to be an under card for Jeff Horns fight but Manny rejected the offer. There were also rumors that Manny can't fight in the US like in Las Vegas because he has issues with the IRS "again".

I don't know that these issues are existing with Manny Pacquiao. It wasn't reported to the news that he was offered to be an underdog or he chose to keep quiet and choose to be silent.

Correct, I thought that he has indeed settled that issue with the IRS long time ago. But I know that he has make arrangements with the Philippines BIR (Bureau of Internal Revenue) about the tax evasion filed against him.

Correct me If I'm wrong but isn't it US has imposed stricter tax laws under Trump's administration? So I think it would make sense for Manny to fight outside US soil where he has to pay like 10%-20% against the new US tax law for non-residence to pay as high as 36%. Nevada doesn't have income tax that's why a lot of high profile fight happens in Las Vegas but with the new tax reform law, it looks like it was overshadowed.

Manny Pacquiao can not fight in the US due to issues with the IRS?
Aren't half the fighters out there in battles with the US tax department with unpaid taxes on their winnings?
If that were the case than Floyd Mayweather wouldn't of been fighting last year in that big fight.
I am certain his money club isn't paying any taxes on this:

Where he flaunted it at the club with the strippers:

Matthysse gave a hard fight on his peak? What about Pacquaio? - Hmm so the Pound for Pound king is a joke?

Matthysse is an aggressive fighter? Is that the main course of Pacquaio? - Smiley

Manny is old? Oh so old that he make young and prime Jeff Horn looks like a punching bag.

Stats don't lie but in general , the verdict will happened on the ring on the day of the event. Goodluck to all.

if he fight paquiao in his prime no doubt manny will win but now manny is older and slower than before i think lucas has a big change winning this fight because lucas is agressive fighter and heavy puncher the only advantage i see on paquiao is his experience and durability i dont know if he still have power in his punch.

When you think Manny is done he surprises you by making this announcement, hmm it's more of a one sided contest. Manny has been great but common there comes a time when one realises that one needs to move on. The stats speaks for Lucas, and what's going to happen to Manny in the ring. I would put my tons of bucket filled with cash on Lucas as he's the winner without doubt. When will this be made official.

I guess this is an interesting fight, there is this possibility that Manny Pacquiao may kiss the canvass with a heavy puncher as Matthysse.  Remember how Marquez knocked down Pacquiao?  This might be the fight Matthysse may watch and study.  Aside from that Manny is not as prime as he was when he fought Marquez.

I give Lucas a punchers chance here as what @Kemarit has said, he is a heavy hitter and Manny chin has been cracked by Marquez already. And Manny is on the downside of his career. Although Lucas has not that active as well, but he is the more fresher than the two. Manny has been in many wars and the wear and tear has been catching up with him. Its gonna be a close fight, if its goes to the scorecard, I see Manny getting a nod, however, it Lucas hits him flush then its goodbye Pacquiao.

With these stats its clearly seen that this man is a heavy puncher, above all of his wins on 3 fighters didnt able to get a Knock out. Going back on where i do really idolized Manny pacquiao because of the aggressiveness and to his fast punches but now he do already have other priorities in life which is mainly affecting his boxing career and we can really expect non so outstanding performance on this fight.

Lucas Matthysse is no pushover. Although he has 4 losses on his record, he is a big puncher, and has fought a lot of fighters during their prime (Zab Judah, Devon Alexander, Danny Garcia) which he all lost, although its very controversial. His last lost is against Victor Postol (which we all know was destroyed by Crawford). He was even touted as the next Manny Pacquiao, however that fight with Postol was ugly and he went into hibernation after that because he needs to undergo a eye-surgery. Its also interested to note that his fellow Argentinian Marcos Maidana, another big puncher, gave Floyd one hell of a fight. And who wouldn't remember Maidana's destroying Adnier Broner. LOL. Its really hard to predict the fight though, as I believed that both (specially Manny) doesn't have it anymore. It would be nice to see them fight like 5 years ago, however, its not to late to see those big puncher getting at it this 2018.
