Oh, oh, oh, Lucky Ajax just couldn't do anything right, could they? Fantastic comeback to get to 3-2, and then the inevitable happened, snatching a draw from the jaws of victory, and then they also kinda lost their heads in the end. And that wholly unnecessary conclusion truly didn't have to happen but are we even surprised anymore? Game suspended, I suspect we'll see even more punishment after this.

Bookies wisened up too so I haven't even found good odds lately against them... will they be value bets next game with a win though? Or should we just call the mortician early?

not sure if anyone is watching, but Utrecht and Ajax are playing not that good, but really interesting match
Utrecht had 1:0 at half-time, scored one more at the start of second half, and when looked as another Ajax defeat mounting, they scored 3 goals in 10 minutes, to completely overturn match, 2:3
but Utrecht is back again, and just scored for 3:3, if you ask me, more goals will follow
nevertheless, match can go on any side, lose will mean more trouble for Ajax, since Utrecht is currently rock bottom in Ere divisie

PSV defeated their opponent and continue their undefeated run. they couldn't keep both the league and the champions league in the same way. Now they have to prepare for the match against Lens in the Champions League. They should at least not lose to the away toys for this match, but we can say that Lens is strong enough to win this match.
Az Alkmaar managed to defeat their opponents by three goals and continued to follow the leader. The hosts, who had a slightly more difficult match on their side, managed to get the three points.

The top teams have all won their games and you have to scroll down all the way to the bottom of the table to find Ajax Amsterdam there. There is still one game left for them to catch up and it would make it look slightly less dramatic if they win it, but doing the math and seeing that Ajax Amsterdam is 22 points behind PSV Eindhoven when about 25% of the season games have been played was unthinkable even in the worst of the worst case scenarios. There is no coming back this season and now it is all about performing damage control. All of the top teams are looking great and are constantly adding points, which really makes it impossible apparently for Ajax Amsterdam to win anything of value this season.

PSV will be looking to make it nine out of nine today. If we look at the matches that the title contenders will play today, all of them will be looking for a home win against their opponents. I don't expect all three teams to drop points in these matches. It would be a surprise if Az Alkmaar, Feyenoord and PSV lose in their home matches. But since there will be European matches during the week, these teams need to win these matches and prepare for European matches in a more focused way. In fact, we can see these matches as a kind of preparation for European matches. We can already see that these three teams are slowly starting to open the gap in the league.

If Ajax plays a bad season, they have to fear more players willing to leave the club, which makes the situation even worse entailing long term consequences for them.

next match against Utrecht on Sunday, and Ajax is favored by bookies to win it, although their form and being away match
not sure if that is good to take

match looks like derby, with former champions and top table contender, but Utrecht is also having a bad moment, being rock bottom with only three points so far
struggling derby, I would say

I think after this international break we can start to see a recovery from Ajax, they have time to train and to cool down a little bit the head and the organization. The BIG problem can come if they dont win this weekend because this can make much more deep crisis.

In this situation I agree that this break can only help them as there was not slightest of hope for a positive trend to kick in for them. If they can beat Alkmaar, it would give them their hope back and also engender some trust in their own strengths. But after having an easier game against Utrecht where they could continue a small winning streak, it doesn't get any easier for them with playing against Brighton and PSV Eindhoven in the next two games. They really are facing some hard weeks.

Ajax are the worst this season as far as I'm concerned. Last season they only suffered 5 defeats at the end of the season but now they have even suffered 3 defeats before even reaching the halfway point of the season. I'm not even sure about talking about the European league for Ajax. I haven't watched the Eredivise for a long time and I was very surprised by Ajax's performance this season. Ajax must win the game against the last team in the standings to get them back on a positive track.
Ajax's performance this season is so disheartening that I wonder what exactly is the problem with them, they are even relegation prone, in their last five games, the fail to get a win and they even had three losses and two draw unlike them last season where they were celebrated as one of the best teams in the erdivisie, they really got many surprised with this performance of theirs this season.

I'm hoping they don't get relegated by the end of the season, even if they are not good enough this season to win the league title, but if they can finish tops they could be considered a good one for the season, I'm optimistic if they could get a comeback a better form this season.

I don't see how something can significantly improve in Ajax after international break. They squad issame and it doesn't looks promising, manager also same. Yeah, they can start winning some games and get away from relegation zone, but they can't fight for something serious this season. I wouldn't bet on Ajax this round, mainly because Utrecht isn't that team which supposed to be in the bottom of table, after all, last season they were fighting for spot in UEFA cups.

In two days the league games will resume, Ajax is in a terrible position, even reaching the point of being in the relegation zone, it's shocking to see this:

In the last 5 games Ajax unbelievably failed to win at least 1 game, this is something very serious, they are now fighting to get out of the relegation zone, while they were a team that was constantly at the top fighting and winning the title. Seeing them going through this bad phase is something sad, and in the next game they will play against another team that is in the relegation zone, but that at least in the last 5 games has won 1 game, so this will be a very important game for Ajax who needs to win this game to move away from the relegation zone

unfortunately, this is my opinion, ajax no longer has a chance of fighting for the title this season, I highly doubt that they will be able to improve their performance much before January, they need to fight to have an acceptable performance while they wait for the transfer window to open so they can hire more good players to reinforce the team and with that they could fight to stay in the 3rd to 5th position at most, but also as they say that in football anything can happen, I won't be surprised if they also don't manage to stay in the 3rd to 5th position and end up in very irrelevant positions.

The saddest thing is that the season is just beginning and even so, we are seeing them so bad that it is already expected that they have no chance of fighting for the title, and that they are fighting to not be relegated, it is unbelievable. I don't know what the hell happened to them to end up in this sad situation

Has there ever been a season where Ajax was so bad and didn't win 5 games in a row in the Eredivisie and is now even at the relegation place? Ajax almost have to win the next game against the last team in the table, but it will be difficult with the Europa Cup places for next season.

If it was only the 3 defeats but the rest would have been wins, at least they would still be showing up in the upper half of the table, but this is looking terribly bad for them. This start into the season is like so bad that more losses and draws should most likely be expected. This doesn't look like a former champions has a few little problems and will soon be shining again. This rather is like they will have serious problems to get out of the relegation zone anytime soon. But bad results are only one part of the whole story once it enfolds. If Ajax plays a bad season, they have to fear more players willing to leave the club, which makes the situation even worse entailing long term consequences for them.

not sure, but can't remember Ajax being so bad recently
they are just bad, AZ and Feyenoord easy wins on their pitch are almost hard to call derbies, Ajax looked as relegation fighting team trying to save bare life against them, and playing at home turf

all being said, Stein is still in position, with 2 wins from 10 matches played, probably worst debut in Ajax history

AZ left Ajax in relegation zone
at least your bet passed
Ajax has three loses in a row, and it really does seem their crisis is big, and international break is on right time for them to consolidate

all other favorites took easy wins, it was just PSV that needed more than half-time to broke their opponent, but scored most goals in the end

The top four are playing through their games and currently have a four-way race for the top of the table.

I don't know what is more shameful - how Ajax is playing or how their fans is behaving. 0:3 after 45 minutes and soon in 2nd half fans started throwing flares into pitch. As I understand, game is abandoned and won't be resumed.

It's not just about Ajax, but in general, similar things happens in almost every big game involved by Ajax, Feyenoord, PSV or Twente. What's wrong with this league? I hope that league finally will take serious actions because such things can't continue.

I dont want to be that annoying guy who said " I said it" , but if anyone relook the thread i said in the beginning of the season this Ajax not start well and also can be very bad if they dont wake up fast, but asides of that thinking i dont expect this bad, they have a very good team in names, i dont really kinow what its happen.
Ajax is now so poor with their performance as compared to their form last season, this season they have recorded one of the worse of their performance, they conceed goals so much that is almost frequent with all their matches in recent times, they struggle to win matches unlike last season where they had steaks of winnings back to back.

Their fans on the other hand are becoming more aggressive than they used to be, probably because they are not used to so much defeat coming at them serially, this season they have recorded two or more games been abandoned due to the reaction of the fans after some minutes into losses and they feel there's no hope for a comeback and of course the players play in a style that doesn't seem as if they could possibly get a comeback. The decline in ajax is jus so bad I just hope they don't get relegated or sanctioned before the season ends because the players are underperforming and the fans are worse with coordinating themselves especially when suffering a loss.

This is really a call for help by Ajax this season. They have changed 3 managers in a really short time period. But this hasn't ended up well for them at all. They are even in worse condition now. Maurice Steijn would be the next manager to get sacked soon which wouldn't be surprising to be honest.  Smiley

Since Erik ten Hag left this team they haven't been able to do a good work for real. But it has taken them a really long time to see some progress and there is still none. I wonder whether there are managerial issues with the whole team. I have heard that Louis van Gaal was appointed as advisor a week ago but I don't know whether this will change anything.

How many people can guess after 8 rounds Ajax was gonna be in relegation zone? I answer 0, impossible, this mark how bad this crisis is.

What was the last time Ajax was in this places? Asides of Eredivisie, i dont remember a similar crisis in a team in big leagues, only Chelsea last season being bad but not this bad.
It is hard to say top teams in Ligue 1 since old and recent ones are fluctuating a lot from a season to another but Lyon are doing horrible with 0 victory and they are obviously sitting in the relegation zone. Lens, ended among top 4 last season and they are hovering around the relegation zone this season. Manchester United in the beginning of the last season were doing very bad in the end of the table but they woke up after Ten Hag joined them. For Ajax, I believe they have to figure out a way to fix their successive failures. It is sad to see a team like them performing like that. Management but also players should wake up and work hard to being the team to a competitive spot since with 15 - 19 goals difference, I doubt they could fight for the first spot or even top 4 ones..

Yeah men i forgot about that one, Lyon is doing very poorly and i also dont know why. But Lyon is not so historical big than Ajax for his own league.

Now we have 4 teams in top positions with a gap of only 4 points and 3 of them without losing a game.

But this downfall of Ajax Amsterdam is more like Manchester City dropping to relegation zone in two years from now. Ajax Amsterdam has been this far outstanding team next to PSV in the Eredivisie. Ajax Amsterdam and PSV have for very long been in a very unique position in the league and usually the title could not have been won by any other team except when these two teams had severe issues during a season. Ajax has been the champions from 2019 - 2022 for yours years in a row. Now it is pretty crazy because it doesn't look like they just have some minor problems and they will be solved in just a few weeks time. It looks like they might be struggling like never before this season.
