I believe @SquirrelJulietGarden already addressed your concerns, so I'm not going to repeat what he/she said and I don't think you'll be getting a different response in here.

I believe that if they insert these new badges, it will probably encourage users who have a lot of knowledge on this topic to always be sharing with us their knowledge, analysis and other things.
AFAIK, those with enough knowledge will always share regardless of having a badge or not, but the moment you encourage users to do it for the badge, most of the users with limited knowledge would try to gain that badge for the wrong reason and that always leads to a disaster [one way or another].

Hello guys, how are you?

So, I was looking into the badges that exist in BitcoinTalk.

I would like to share my opinion (if this is possible)

What do you think about the feasibility of inserting new badges here on the forum?
Any analysis in relation to this?

What do you think about inserting a badge related to economy? (I don't know if economics would be the most correct word to exemplify), but for the user to have this badge, he needs to have solid knowledge of macroeconomics, monetary theory, knowledge of how the market behaves.

Another badge that I thought might be interesting to insert in the forum would be a badge related to the "research user", as he doesn't have the necessary knowledge to be a "Bitcoin expert" or "Bitcoin-Qt", an excellent way for him to contribute on the forum is, writing and sharing scientific papers (perhaps from your master's degree or PhD), perform researchs, and always analyzing and seeking knowledge for cryptocurrencies.

I believe that if they insert these new badges, it will probably encourage users who have a lot of knowledge on this topic to always be sharing with us their knowledge, analysis and other things.

What do you think!!? Is this really feasible?

Of course, this is my humble opinion on this subject.
I am so grateful to be sharing my idea with you!

obs: I searched the forum and didn't find any topic related about new badges

when I can become to  next level- Member?
To reach the Member rank you need to have 60 points of activity and 10 merits. Currently, you've hit the first requirement, but not the second. Your rank will change as soon as you gain nine more merits.

You may want to read this: Merit & new rank requirements.
And this: FAQ: Everything you need to know about forum 'activity, account ranks and merit.

I wouldn't overly concern yourself with the formula as it is confusing, but basically it's saying you can only get 14 activity points every two weeks and to get those you need to make the 14 posts. However, you only need to make one post in each activity period to get the potential merit? and you can collect the rest later by making the required posts. Everything is explained here: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/faq-everything-you-need-to-know-about-forum-activity-account-ranks-and-merit-2766177

Potential merit? You mean potential activity.

Yes, i think he meant activity and not merit. If you make one post in 14 days, you will get the potential activity. Later when you complete the posts (30 Posts for Jr Member), you will rank up (if you meet the merit requirements).
There is no potential merit sort of thing. The more merits you get, the quicker it will be for you to rank up provided your posts/activity requirement are fulfilled.

Can someone explain to me this:

activity = min(time * 14, posts)

what is min and what is "comma" posts. I just never seen a comma in an equation so I am not sure what to make out of it. Smiley

Where exactly does it say the merits that are needed for Hero and Legendary? I remember Full member being at least 100 merits, but this thread doesn't mention the required merits, only the activity.

Also, I don't get why Legendary should be within a range of numbers. Isn't this a little unfair?

I'm not sure why theymos made it random but I think Legendary should be fixed at 960 merit to follow the format of the other accounts. I also think a new rank should be added at 1920 activity but maybe make it a very high merit requirement so only the best of posters achieve it.

min is a function that receives 2 parameters:

value 1 = time * 14
value 2 = posts

It then returns the lowest value.

Example:

time = 10
posts = 40

activity = min(10 * 14, 40)
activity = min(140, 40)
activity = 40

(because 40 < 140)

How to increase my rank?
If you've already "read the very first few lines of this thread" and you're still confused, then the short answer is:

  • Be somewhat "active [you have to post instead of just roaming around]"and earn "merits [it's meant for high-quality posts but some tend to give it for useful posts as well]".
    • Take note: Don't ask for merits and refrain from spamming or rather making useless posts.

Anyone Can Explain How Can I Achieve Jr Member Rank Freely.

You are on the forum for more than a year and you did not understand the basic thing that you need merit if you want to become Jr. Member and above. Looking at your post history shows that you have not been active anywhere on the forum except in the bounties. You will not get any merit by anyone if you  only interested in hunting bounty.

Ranks

Update on 9/19/18: Merit points are now added
In addition to the activity points, merit points (click for more information) are required to advance your ranking. You will need at least 1 merit point before you can be a Jr. Member (click for more information).

And following the link, you'll read that you need the following Merits+Activity points to rank up:

In addition to activity, everyone now has a merit score, and you need both a certain activity level and a certain merit score in order to reach higher member ranks. The required scores are:

You need to have merits in order for you to rank up. A single merit can make you a Jr. Member as your activity has already completed.

Good proposal and you can achieve that in a years time if the proposal is accepted Tongue Grin.
Spend some time and you will achieve those if you are really looking forward to get your promotion.

Some will achieve the rank by contributing to the forum while some other will achieve it by contributing half of what the Legendary did? I think that will be disrespect towards the real Legendary who will achieve by following forum requirements.

As I'm running a forum myself I see the point here, and you both are probably right that it will be more "fair" and good for the community as a whole when ppl are contributing with ideas and opinion on topics here.

I have a proposal:
Hero member with 10yrs membership == Legendary  Grin

As the rank states, no need to prove anything, or ask for merit... real legend never does Wink

I don't see what's unfair about it since there are no advantages (besides the colored coin) that come with the membership. I think that a bit of suspense can be fun Tongue
